I was really disappointed with my visit. I've always heard the radio commercials and meant to try this place while on the road and really regret stopping. They boast lots of award certificates in their window for best food, but I can't imagine by whom.
I was served the most disgusting plate of food ever in my life.
Never before have I said "I can't eat this."
I thought I couldn't go wrong with veggie kabobs over rice but what I got was rice literally swimming in oil with a few spoiled and overly seasoned veggies on top. The tomatoes onions and peppers tasted like they had been pickled to preserve their life and then had a ton of gross dry herbs on top to mask the fact that they were rancid.
I couldn't even drink the tap water because it tasted like dishwasher detergent and chlorine.
I guess it depends on what you order, because my friend enjoyed his salmon burger and the french fries were decent.
This place is a great stand-by. It's a typical diner, nothing fancy but it's quality. I like going here for breakfast, it's affordable and you get a good bang for your buck! Sitting in the front part of the diner is an experience and reminds me of being a kid. The owners are friendly and welcoming. Plus, they have a great jingle :)
Review Source:A diner is a diner is a diner and the Quickway Diner served me a delicious breakfast in record time. Â Trying to get home for the holiday, I was hoping to scarf down some grub and be on my way in the blink of an eye -- and my mission was accomplished.
However, I think I could have spared the extra minute that it would have taken for the cook to melt the cheese on my egg...and actually toast my bread instead of merely warming it up.
All things considered, the Quickway is the best bang for your buck along this portion of Route 17.
On your way out west towards Binghamotn/Ithaca/Rochester/Buffalo? Or heading back to NYC area from those points, then you will find the Quickway Diner along Route 17. Â I stopped here for breakfast on my way out west and this spot was exactly what I thought it was going to be. Â Quick and inexpensive breakfast that will be served within minutes of my order.
The one thing i love about long road trips is stopping at a very local place along the way. Â I prefer to hit up a local restaurant than pay triple the price at fast-food corporate chains that occupy the major highway rest stops. Â For $6, you can have breakfast for two people here.
The food? Well, it is a diner, so you know what you are going to get. Â All they had to do was melt the cheese more on the eggs and toast the bread rather than just warm it up a little and I would have no complaints. Â
No reason to complain about this place. Â You are not in NYC any longer if you are heading out West, so don't be snobby. Â Just enjoy the local spots and continue on your journey.
An okay diner...okay food for the middle of the night. I've been coming here for a long time after drunken nights out and the food has been, basically, the same. Our waitress was patient with our intoxicatedness and she delivered us hot food. My burger was good, but nothing to continue writing about....
Review Source:Just had lunch. Service was really nice. Food was great. At the end of the meal we experienced the horror of having a roach crawl along the table as we sat there. I tried to kill it but it flew at me and I brushed it off my clothing and on to the floor. We didn't want to make a scene out of respect for the establishment but after we told the cashier about it, she and several of the other waitresses ganged up on us and denied it and basically told us we were wrong. Â I work in a restaurant, I've seen cockroaches, and it was a cockroach. They did nothing to discount our bill or compensate us, just continually exclaimed how ridiculous it was that we said we had seen a cockroach. Â It was incredibly disrespectful. Never again.
Review Source:Apparently the quick way dinner is a staple in Bloomingburg. I would have never stumbled upon it unless we were directed to go there to check in for the Extreme Homemaker that was taking place this August.
The place itself looks a little dated/scary from the outside and inside. We honestly did not know what to expect when we walked in. We sat down in their carpeted dining room and ordered burgers (my friend had the turkey and I had the beef). My burger was really good. Now, it had no frills to it, but it was good. (Tasted like something that Dad would have cooked on the grill.) And you can't bet the price. $3.75.
P.S. - My friend really liked her turkey burger as well.
As far as the staff is concerned, out waitress was top notch! (I think her name was Jasmine). She was extremely friendly and attentive. I would go back, just to have her serve us again.
No wonder why this is a staple in Bloomingburg.
I had a great experience at the Quickway Diner (please see my review of the Mountain View Restaurant if you'd like some backstory).
Though we arrived with no reservation and a group of 11 we were seated in the busy dining room within moments of arriving.  The staff was friendly and conscientious. The food was delicious, exactly what you would expect from a side of the road 24 hour diner.  The only reason for four stars instead of five is that they were a little slow at the beginning, and we had two people who had to get on the road. I think we waited about fifteen minutes before someone even came over to  take our drink orders, but I think that's reasonable for a large group on a Sunday morning.
