Racquets Downtown Grill

From the outside one can not tell much of what is waiting behind the door, other than some beverages of alcoholic persuasion and some bar food. However the history of this establishment is far more riveting. When Muskegon began to endure the first wave of business recession, many local hospitality locations were unable to continue keeping their door's open, or chose to just pack it in and extract their businesses from the potential of continuing downturns in the Muskegon economy. Not Racquets. They kept serving their patrons, sticking with the same game plan the business was conceptualized from, which created a true downtown feeling that no other bar can lay claim to. Good for Them!!
The food is decent, the pizza will not get the highest grades, but overall it is very well balanced and hits the spot when the beer munchies come a calling.
However, the wraps are really good, I strongly recommend the Thai wrap.

4/5. Great place for drinks, decent food.

This was near the hotel where my boyfriend and I stayed on our vacation.  We didn't visit Muskegon/Grand Haven during the typical vacation season.  

We stopped by Racquets before going to dinner to catch the Red Wings game.  It seemed pretty low key.  There were a few people at the bar that seemed to be regulars.  We didn't try any food but ordered a couple beers.  They had a decent selection for a small bar.  I was happy with my Sunset Wheat on tap.  There were two bartenders on staff.  One of the girls seemed pretty clueless but the other was more helpful about telling us their selection.

After we went to dinner and watch the rest of the Red Wings and Tigers game somewhere else, we decided to stop back at Racquets before going back to our hotel.  The atmosphere changed a lot in those few hours.  The people who were there earlier had left and the new crowd looked a little rough.  There was actually a little scuffle in the bar right before we came back.  We still had a lot of fun as most other bars in the area were closed.
