We were in town to check out the Monroe County Courthouse and see the place that inspired To Kill a Mockingbird. Radley's was the suggestion given to us at the courthouse for Saturday lunch. In their defense it may have been the only open restaurant in this sleepy little town. The place is a converted fast food building. The interior seemed put together on a shoestring. Our waitress seemed annoyed withto our questions about the menu and was not too friendly. The food was not good. Since there were no vegetarian entrees we ordered several side dishes. The side salad was iceberg lettuce and sliced tomatoes with shredded cheese that looked old and dried, like pre-shredded cheese that's been opened and sitting too long in the refrigerator. Â I picked it off. The Italian dressing was awful...the cheap bottled variety in which oil and vinegar are magically bound together. I will say that my baked potato was good, cooked just right. The "fresh steamed vegetables" were tasteless and watery and I'm pretty sure came out of a freezer bag. Â The fact that they served beer made the meal less painful. Would not eat here again.
