Great Polish restaurant, in a great Polish town!

Best polish food outside of Hamtramck. This town of Polish people has needed at real Polish restaurant.

Potato burger is the house special and does not disappoint for even the hungriest of people. The potatoes from the burger are from one of the many Polish potato farmers in Elmira. The horseradish Sauce is awesome! You are asked grilled or fried( if your Polish you'll know how to get it:)) Its on a pretzel roll which is sweet!
If your not in the mood for awesome Polish food( or its to heavy for you), the pizzas are really good. Get Italian sausage on it( its unreal). A great appetizer is the house made potato chips. Service is normal for up north, and in the winter it gets packed with snow mobilers. Karaoke I tons of fun on weekend nights. If your in town( chances are you won't be) stop In, it's awesome.  If your at Boyne or Gaylord make the scenic drive over.Make sure you have a 4x4 car in the winter.

        Enjoy!

What a great find. I love coming here, especially after a long day of skiing.

Note: This place is not for the faint of heart. The food can be very heavy (but very tasty!)

Our favorites are the polish nachos and the kielbasa and sauerkraut. The polish nachos are way too heavy for my stomach, but I end up eating a whole bunch anyways. And the sauerkraut and kielbasa are the perfect match for each other.  The pierogies are also tasty. 12 year old boy loved the cheeseburger.

I also like that the local people seem to flock to this place. I've been here three times, and twice there were more snow machines than cars in the parking lot. And the other time, there were more motorcycles than cars.

Looks like they sometimes have live bands there, but it's always been really quiet when I've been there.

This joint is without a doubt one of the best kept secrets in all of Northern Michigan.  The polish food is outstanding, the service is friendly and quick, it's a biker-friendly joint that you can take your kids to, the beer is affordable, but all of that is just icing on the cake when you consider this bar's claim to fame: the world famous potato burger.

For almost 20 years now, my father and I have made a point to stop in as we drive west on M32 to Ironton, and every time at least one of us has made a point to order this beast of a burger.  For the uninitiated, the sandwich is composed of your standard red onions, lettuce, and tomato, but also features a patty composed of ground beef, spices (which remain a family secret) and of course local shredded potatoes.  They then take that entire monster of a patty (easily half a pound or more) beer-batter and deep fry it before slapping it on a chewy pretzel roll with horseradish sauce on the side.

The potato burger isn't merely another gimmicky sandwich, it's a divine experience.  The grease from the beef which would normally serve only to render your bun a sad, soggy affair is absorbed by the shredded potatoes, keeping 100% of the flavor in the patty.  The crunch of the airy beer-batter makes for a textural experience like none other, and although you CAN order the potato burger grilled rather than deep fried, I recommend sticking with tradition.

To maximize your potato burger experience, I would also encourage you to order it with cheddar cheese, and not to skimp on the horseradish sauce (it's not THAT hot).  Furthermore, potato burger veterans might remember that back before they rebuilt the Railside Bar, the burger was served on a Kaiser roll.  If you want a trip down memory lane, feel free to order it on a kaiser, but make sure that puppy is toasted.

If you've driven past this gem on your way to East Jorden, Charlevoix, or anywhere else, you owe it to yourself to stop by, enjoy a potato burger, have a beer, and maybe make a couple of new friends.

"Up north" Polish dive bar.  Great pit stop on your way to Boyne.
