On our way to nearby Ruston to eat, I noticed that the new business, Ra'jo's Chicken & Waffles was open. Upon entering the Diner in the College Town of Grambling, I was surprised at the upbeat decor. We grabbed a Menu and began to make our selection. Wait staff is on point as is the food. We both opted for the house special, Ra'jo's 4 huge Whole Wings, and one Waffle. Perhaps because this was their first day and also the food is cooked to order, we waited about 20 minutes for our food. When the food was served, it was well worth the wait. The Wings were hot with heat, and Crispy on the outside, while being Moist, Juicy and Tender on the inside. The waffles were satisfactorily covered with melted Butter, and the Syrup provided was enough for the Waffle. This special is $6.99, well worth it. Ra'jo's Chicken and Waffles brings a level of dining not seen in Grambling for over 30 years. They offer the traditional hot wings, with 50 sauces and flavors. Their Menu lists sandwiches such as Tilapia, Pork Chop, etc... Cold Cut Sandwiches, Fish, Shrimp, Whole Wings, Tenders, and on Sunday's they offer the "Uncle Willie's Soulfood Sundays". Yesterday I returned and ordered 12 wings, with Garlic Butter and Onion Sauce. The flavor was as good or better than Wingstop. The story of the restaurant is that the Family has a Son enrolled at the University, and upon arriving to the small town, found no decent restaurant. I wish them much success.
