The drinks and food are a little on the pricey side - but a perfect spot for a date or to treat yourself to something special. Â The service was fantastic, we were checked up on many times with a friendly smile. The food was flavorful. Our spare ribs came out cold but tasted great. Â I think they just have a few more little tweaks to make and it will be a stand-out spot very soon.
Review Source:Went to the Real Mccoy Home Bar and Kitchen last week, having been wanting to check it out for a while. Â From the outside, the place is fairly uninviting. Â First, the name is kind of odd, and the glass window and door are smoked, so you really can't tell what the place is like from the outside.
Once inside, you enter an open room with a couch section to your left, tables and booths past that, and the bar is all the way at the back. Â The decor is clean and inviting, but it has this sort of modern barn feel that is a little weird.
I did not order any of the food on the menu. Â The menu looks very tasty, but prices seem fairly high for the portions that I saw being served to tables around me.
The cocktail menu is small and well done, but a little cluttered to read. Â I ordered a cocktail, the "Devil on the Dotted Line" which essentially just tasted like tequila with celery juice in it. Â A little disappointing with all the hype that this place has. Â My partners drink was much better, but simple and a drink that you could find in many bars. Â Cocktails are also a little overpriced for what you get.
Overall, worth checking out at least once, but nothing special enough that I would go back on a regular basis.
The drinks are fabulous and hand crafted. The bartenders are skilled and charming. The waitstaff is fun, charming and skilled. The atmosphere is busy, hip and exciting. The crowd is upbeat, relaxed, mixed age, and lively. Great addition to the Bellingham bar scene. And tapas menu is tasty. Some bars are prosaic. This one is poetic. Dylan Thomas would make it a regular haunt.
Review Source:I was finally able to check out this new little hole-in-the-wall place last night, and while it doesn't look like much from outside, appearances can be very decieving! While fairly small, the decor manages to feel cozy and modern at the same time. The service was excellent, our waitress taking the time to explain food and drink items in detail even with a packed house. And the most important part of course - the drinks were amazing, we tried three different specialty cocktails and we loved each one. And the food really blew our minds too. Small dishes, just a few select choices, but each really packed with flavor. The lamb skewers in particular, you just have to try.
Can't wait to go back, I hope this place does well because it's a real jewel.
The Real McCoy is finally open! Â I've been waiting for months and the wait was well worth it. Â Excellent cocktails--possibly the best in Bellingham. Â I like that the menu has such variety. Â All are modestly priced, though smaller portions. Â The ambiance is great, good wait staff, and the food was good. Â Looking forward to my next visit. Â Highly recommended.
Review Source:I came in here with a few friends on Saturday. For their grand opening week things certainly went off without a hitch! Great drinks, superb service, and a packed house. This bar has a very laid back yet classy vibe which I am a fan of.
The drink menu is great. They have prohibition-era cocktails, wine, and beer. Including an Old Fashioned cocktail and some wines on tap which I had never seen before, even in Seattle. I had more than my fair share of cocktails and they all went down easy and tasted amazing. My favorite was the Nasturtium - you must try it! We munched on some lavender almonds and they were so good. I definitely want to try their small plates in the future ... Â if they're anything as good as the cocktails then I will be in for quite a treat.
