Excellent service as well as food. The only negative is that the beef is grain-fed instead of grass-fed. The salad was wonderful and fresh. I ordered the portobello mushroom with goat cheese. The mushroom was grilled perfectly and the goat cheese was better than I have had in a long time. Key lime pie for dessert was a nice touch. It could have been a bit more tart. Overall, I would definitely come here again.
Review Source:Great wine prices. Â I loved the Fish Dupuy and it was redfish that day. Baked and sauced just right. The salad was good featuring mixed greens. Â But what I think was sauteed green beans was not good. Overcooked, wilted, maybe too buttery (can that be true?) or maybe the butter had been cooked too long because it had a bad flavor. Â Great interior, high ceilings, tasteful and not over-themed in decorations. Wait service was attentive but I wished they had brought out the bread sooner. It was small loaf of french bread, fresh, and so yummy. My friend really liked her oyster trio for appetizer. It's just this: Â I've had great meals in restaurants with similar menus in Baton Rouge and New Orleans and it just didn't stand out in overall experience. But when in Marksville again, I would go back and I would recommend it to anyone going to Marksville, as it was recommended to me.
Review Source:Very nice, quaint place. Â After 3 pm, there ain't much happening in Marksville but this place is always putting out quality food. Â The panned fish is good, the steaks look even better.
Gotta say, the bread pudding is all wrong. Â It is almost like Red River tried so hard to make their bread pudding unique, that it tastes like someone chewed up Captain Crunch and spit it in some sugar sauce. Â But all else was good. I had mine at the bar by choice but all of the folks stopped by and were most hospitable. Â Will go back and try a mousse dessert.
