I've only visited Clarksdale once, and it started as a one night stay...which then became a 2 night visit...and after making some friends (locals and tourists) I ended up staying a 3rd night so I could check out T-Model Ford (RIP T!!!).  I am glad I did.

Red is great as long as you're not being an ass or being cheap.  The cover is cheap, but that keeps the place afloat so bring some singles if they pass the hat.  Beer is cheap, but you can also bring a bottle and get a "set up", which is just another way for saying soda and a cup of ice...or maybe just a cup...I had so much fun but it's a bit of a haze.  Arguably this is the type of place why you visit Mississippi.  I fell in love with the town, the state, the people and Red's is a large part of that.

I would stay at the Shack-Up in or the Riverside Motel (very close to Red's) or upstairs at Ground Zero but I would really try and be there for a weekend or Blues festival.  Maybe if your nice Red will make you some BBQ.  Definitely offer him some cash.  Red is the man.

Oh, unless things have changed the bathroom there is no highlight...best if you can avoid it...

Authentic juke joint experience.  Saw a great show with a fun crowd.  Not to mention cheap beer and very nice locals.  This isn't the House of Blues, so know what to expect, tightly packed, great crowd and geat acts.

A one of a kind experience, a true juke joint. Red is often cooking up some good BBQ outside too. I stop in at least once every time I make it through town. Excessively claustrophobic on festival weekends, but who doesn't like feeling trapped in a building that's seems ready to collapse?

THE juke joint. I get in here when I'm in town for the outstanding musicians Red manages get in this place. The beer's cold and the music excellent. Sitting at the counter listening to Red translate for the late Tater one evening will be remembered fondly and forever.

I've been here three times, and each time has been different. The first time, the crowd was mostly locals, the music was too loud, and the band could barely corral their heavy-drinking frontman. It was awesome - maybe the most fun I've ever had in Clarksdale - but it wouldn't be everybody's scene. The second time, it was mostly tourists and everything was much tamer. The third time, it was the DJ's birthday party. The place was packed to the gills with locals and tourists alike, food and liquor was free and plentiful, the music was some great trance-y Hill Country kind of stuff - sort of a mix of my previous two experiences. So, Red's varies from night to night, and it may or may not be your thing depending. Regardless, if you come in here looking for a good time, you'll always find it. The beer is cold and cheap, the music is good and loud, and if you can't find a seat, just start digging around one of the piles of flotsam laying about and you're sure to find a ratty stool or a milk crate.

There is a cover here - usually $5, sometimes more on special events (the DJ's birthday was $7, but they had food and liquor). My favorite T-shirt also came from Red's. It has a scripted baseball-style logo and says "Backed by the River, Fronted by the Grave" - an allusion to the nearby river and cemetery. Major points for that.

The real deal. Red's is a must if you love the Blues and the Delta. Red is a great man that has been keeping the Blues alive and providing the best Blues greats for years.

Just about the funkiest place I've been.  Music was great, beer was cold and the last cleaning crew must have left in the 70's.  Started to take video of a friend who was playing and Red threatened to "cut me" if I didn't stop.  Reactions were mixed about whether or not he was kidding.

Was there on a Friday night, $5 cover for  T Model  Ford to play.  He is a 91 year old local guy!  Good music, ok beer prices.  Not crowded at all when we were there even though this was a highly touted guy to see.  Have never seen so much stuff piled into a small bar,,,did not get that!    Real juke joint!

Oh WOW, I was there a year or so ago and loved it.  I was raised in the area and know what Dixie is all about.

This true no frills Blues Juke Joint is as back to the basics as they come.  Its in the heart of Dixie and you will find true Blues music here.  Don't get all dressed up togo here or you will stand out in tghe wrong way, and wont't be nearly as fun..

Relax and drink a can of beer and listen to old times in music!!

True Blues fans will understand. This is a no frills"juke joint".The best  Blues anywhere . Pay at the door and find a seat, maybe or just a place to stand, than get into the coolest  blues you'll find anywhere.Grab a cold beer, and turn the heat up.The show goes on till whenever, and if you get hungry the BBQ outside does'nt get any better. This place is legendary. Don't let Red scare you at the door.
     Best damm party in Clarksdale
