I love the Red Zone. I don't care too much for sports, but the TVs don't bother me because the food is fantastic, and they have cider. My drink of choice.
The food is varied, including hotdogs and burgers, to nachos and wings, and wraps and sandwiches, literally anything a girl could ask for. Service is always at the very least good. The attractive men serving and bartending are nice, but they're not just jerks at a sports bar..I've been here late at night for drunk nachos, and early morning breakfasts with my brother! Its always awesome!! Good job Austin!!
So this place is actually my favorite "normal" place in Ashland. The food is good, the service is great, the crowd is good.
It's also run by a husband and wife team, the commitment to good service and quality is evident.
My only knock on the place, the pepsi is usually flat. Someone needs to suck it up, pay whatever service charge Coca-Cola wants out of Medford and get this problem fixed.
I was craving hot wings, Â I heard from a friend to visit and I wouldn't be disappointed. Â I would say that I am hard to please as I have owned businesses in the industry. Â My wife was once a waitress and she is hard to please too. Â
On our way back from Cali a few days ago, we decided to stop in and try the Wings (with "hot" sauce). All I can say is EXCELLENT! Â They were crispy, not dry, not oily, and well covered but not saturated. Â Later found out that the recipe is from Buffalo. Â I had the Bacon Blue Burger with a side of Chili. Â The burgers are hand pattied so naturally I asked to have it cooked Med. Rare (tough to pull off on a burger) and the cook nailed it; nice pink on the inside and great sear on the outside. Â The bacon was hearty and thick (I was expecting skinny overcooked bacon). Â And the bun! Â The next important thing to me; big, fresh and toasted. Â The chili was good! Â Rustic and hearty, like wings I am picky about my chili. Â Though not a gold medal, an easy silver though! Â
Today I tried the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with blue cheese and a green salad. Â First off the salad was a mix of greens and red lettuce (thank god it was not Iceberg!) and a slew of dressing choices. Â I thankfully picked Ranch because it saved me regarding how hot the sauce was on my sandy. Â Chicken was not dry, and the hoagie roll was soft and toasted! Â But let me warn you the "blazing" hot sauce is very hot! Â The blue cheese, lettuce and tomato was a nice help with the sandwich spice!
I gave them 5 stars because I was not let down on service and food. Â Prices are reasonable and the 12 taps of beer was nice for a guy who likes his beer! Â For sports bar, they so far has impressed me and taken their food a new level from your typical sports bar.
One thing I would like to see changed is the ability to bring our under 21 friends and kids. Â I was told OLCC has refused to let it happen.
My boyfriend and I were visiting my parents at their new second home in Oregon. My bf is a die-hard Michigan football fan and told me he wanted to be at a bar for the game so he wouldn't look crazy cheering in front of the TV at my parents' house. After doing some research, I found RedZone.
We arrived there at 8:30am, and the owner said they opened at 9am, which bummed us out because online it said they opened at 8am. Things got better though, because he let us in, chatted with us, and ended up serving us early. He was really friendly and attentive to our needs.
I had called ahead and written on the bar's Facebook wall to make sure the game would be on, and it was. There were A TON of TVs and games on, and the owner showed us the best seats. You can tell that they really care about their patrons.
The service was outstanding, and so were the drinks and food. Way better than your average bar food.
Stopped in one day in-between matinee and evening performances of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Â We were very happy with the food, the service and the overall vibe of the RedZone.
Even though Ashland is quite the tourist town, I got the feeling most of the other customers were locals, and not festival-goers like ourselves. Â Still, we were certainly made to feel completely welcome and appreciated as customers.
When we first walked in, it was LOUD. Â (This is a sports bar, after all, and the RedZone has a surprisingly large number of TVs for its size. Â It was a Saturday afternoon in the fall and there was lots of football and baseball and probably some soccer going on.) Â But, it was a good-natured crowd just out to enjoy their game(s), and, within a few minutes, I adjusted to the noise level and just relaxed and enjoyed my meal.
Our server could not have been more friendly or on-the-ball. Â I had a quite yummy turkey burger (love that that was an option) with some tasty fries and an even tastier salad. Â A decent glass (ok, two decent glasses) of house red at an amazingly cheap price accompanied my meal.
If we lived in Ashland, I could easily see the RedZone becoming a place we visit often. Â Since we don't live in Ashland, for now, it remains a pleasant memory from our trip there. Â If we are ever back in town, we would definitely drop in again.
I absolutely love this place. It makes me wish it was around while I was at SOU. The people that run the place are fantastic! And hands down the best burger in town now. It makes a real difference when you cook with all fresh foods that aren't your frozen box varietals like other wannabe sports bars in downtown ashland.
If you plan on watching a game and having a beer, you won't be disappointed as you can literally see ever game from where you are sitting. Its a college football fan's version of heaven.
Ok yes I did give this 5 stars. These folks have put 5 stars worth of effort up in this mix. Seriously! The folks that work there are super nice, the TV's are perfect. I do like louis but this is a proper sports bar. I should also mention the tap list is awesome. Thanks for the good work guys and keep it up....
Review Source:Well this is interesting.
This is one of those locations where restaurants never seems to make it--too far from downtown, doesn't quite catch on, something else.
RedZone may be able to break the curse. It's a hard-core American-style sports bar--I counted 13 or 14 big flat-screens arrayed around the room--with tall tables and stools. The bar from the previous occupant is still there, but flanked now by reach-ins with energy drink logos. I think I saw at least 8 and maybe more taps, and it's still a full bar so libations should not be a problem.
Food is okay, sports-bar food. Don't come here looking for white linen service and you won't be disappointed. It's mostly fried, although there are a few salads on the menu, but this is definitely not a place trying to do particularly healthy alternatives of traditional dishes. Service was friendly and very polite, if a bit overwhelmed (too many patrons per waiter).
If you're looking for a sports bar in Ashland, this is definitely one to check out.
