What a lovely surprise on our journey home from the Adirondacks! Â Part cafe, antique store and B & B, this small town entrepreneur would do great in the big city, too. Homemade soups, awesome chili, fancy Chicago Dog on worlds best bun, incredible and HUGE chicken salad sandwich all served in quaint (but not too "foofy") dining room in old classic home. Â New Berlin looks like its fallen/falling on some hard times, hopefully this quality place survives! Â We will plan our next trip up to make it to a Friday Fish Fry, I'm sure it will be wonderful. One tip, hard to tell its a cafe when driving through town, so keep your eyes peeled!
Review Source:Although I have done much traveling and spent many nights away from home, I generally don't care to stay at hotels. inns, etc., but I loved my weekend at the Remember When. The room was fantastic, the folks that run it and work there are sincerely super nice and the food was great. I hope to have an opportunity to get back there in the future. Russ B. Clinton, CT
Review Source:I've been meaning to try their fish fry for a few years now. Last weekend, I decided to run in and grab a fish fry dinner to go. I was greeted by a very pleasant young host, and she quickly found a waitress to take my order. Â I figured I would have some time while waiting, so I started to explore other areas of the building, besides the front hallway. There is a nice little cafe/dining area consisting of (I believe) two rooms, and there were also people dining outside on the front porch, where the tables have umbrellas. This old building has charm, and I think they have guest rooms upstairs.
Just as I began poking around a room that I realized was an antique shop, the waitress came and found me, and my dinner was ready.
Definitely a nice experience at this place.
I took the food home, and I was satisfied. The very large piece of haddock was nicely breaded and tasty. Â The baked potato was also very good - I think it was baked with sea salt, resulting in a very flavorful skin. The cole slaw had pineapple in it. Â I thought this was weird, but when I finished it, I definitely wanted more. I think this meal cost $12 and change, and I felt that it was a good value.
This is a solid spot for Friday fish fry, especially considering the surrounding area. Â
I'll be back, not only because of the food, but the service and character.
