Driving across Colorado - and the pickings are slim. Determined to NOT eat at a BK or McD, I hit up Yelp for a local favorite - and I was very happily surprised. Huge drinks, very tasty food, and smiling service made my lunch stop a winner. There's a small patio out front (it's a quiet street), and the decor (down to the bright-colored plates) is very sweet. I had the chicken fajitas and my son munched away happily on the tacos. The guacamole was fresh, my dish was nice and spicy, and we were back on the road in no time at all. Â There aren't many choices on I-70, but this is a win! :)
Review Source:Not bad for Mexican food in the middle of nowhere, but not good in comparison to good Mexican food. I had the carnitas tacos and some rice. The rice was flavorless (and somewhat stale), and the carnitas, though plentiful, was a bit dry. To top it off, there was a sign that said "99 cent tacos for the summer," but when we got our bill the waitress said it only applied to beef tacos...definitely NOT on the sign.
Anyways, the food was ok. I'd recommend it over the local Arby's.
1. Â Driving through rural eastern colorado..
2.  Had to stay at an All American Value motel  ...sad face.
3. Â wanted a meal that didnt have the word: MC - Arby - Box - King...etc.
4. Â Found these guys...small down home family owned mexican restaurant.
5. Â sweet service...honest food...local spot. Â
If you are driving through - this is a safe bet!
This is a small family run restaurant. It was clean, friendly fast service and the food was good. We were there on a Friday night. It was fun listening to the locals who were eating there. It seemed that everyone knew everyone. Great small town atmousphere. We enjoyed our food and the evening.
Review Source:I agree with the previous reviewers. Here is my take:
Nice ambience, clean and colorful. Excellent service. Half the customers were Mexican, that says a lot!
Huge menu with some authentic Mexican items like menudo, gorditas, and sopapillas, other non-authentic items like fajitas.
Very reasonable prices we felt: $14 got us two nice lunches with a side of beans.
Our fantasy is that all Mexican restaurants can be judged by the quality of their beans and tortillas, as that is the real, down-to-earth every day food available in Mexico to rich and poor. The beans at Panaderia were first- rate, homemade, just like Aunt Lupita makes. The tortilla in my taco was a pre-bought fried one, something not many Mexicans I know would tolerate or consider to be palatable.
The carne asada gordita was the real thing: tasty thick corn tortilla, fried, filled with real chewy carne asada and not a lot of other fake fillers like lettuce and tomatos. The cheese, however, was Safeway shredded colby. The enchilada was typical but without real Mexican cheese; probably it was colby. It should be queso like that used in Mexico. The releno was not real appetizing and unusual: something wrapped up in a tortilla and deep fried to a very chewy texture. The taco filling was hamburger, but seasoned nicely. Should be shredded beef. However both salsas were wonderful as were the chips.
For the price, go for it!
Surprisingly great food for such a small town. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone stopping through. Fast survive, friendly waitress, and fairly authentic cooking style. The prices are great too.
Sat in the small out-door seating area, and they have the local reggaetone station playing. Pretty nice.
Also, they're free house salsa is pretty darn good. It had better flavor than most, and was absolutely fresh. And the chips were nice and warm.
Check in, and check it out when stopping through Burlington.
