This restaurant is very quaint.  It is in a historic building, built in 1936 by a prominent area businessman (the story is on the back of the menu).   The service is warm, friendly and accomodating.  The food, however, is inconsistent. I have eaten here twice, and the first time it was very good--the salad was fresh and the ribeye was rare (seared outside, red but warm inside) like I ordered it.  Last night I took friends and they ordered grilled tilapia.  The menu said you could have it blackened, grilled or fried and they all chose grilled.  They all came with blacken seasoning, one so over seasoned and salty that it was inedible. It was sent back (the server was very nice about it!) and when it came back it was not blackened, but it was not grilled either..it looked like it was just put in a cold pan and heated on the stovetop--edible, but no attention to quality. We are still on the hunt for a real quality restaurant in this area as an alternative to our favorite restaurant, Wildflower Cafe, just up the mountain in Mentone,  AL.  Riegeldale Tavern has all the ambience and very good staff-- now all they need is a good chef!! (A beer/wine/liquor license wouldn't hurt either).
