My partner and I went on the half day trip through Brown's Canyon this morning. I had never rafted before, and was a little nervous. We had a really big group (8 rafts full), but the guide that we got was fabulous. Andrea was totally knowledgable, with eight years river guide experience, and four on the Arkansas. I had a blast!! I think your experience really depends on everyone in the raft really working as a team, and our group worked well together. Andrea guided us through the rapids, and most of the time we hit them in just the perfect spot, with lots of drops and spins. I just can't wait to try it again. In fact, we purchased another trip with River Runners through the Royal Gorge to use next year. They were really organized, and I felt safe and taken care of.  Highly recommend!!
My only comment is that I really wish the pictures you can buy weren't so expensive. ($25 for one, and $50 for all the pics of your boat) I would never pay that much for a couple of pictures...

Did the full day Brown's Canyon today. Picked River Runners because the price and location was right. After that, just expecting a crap shoot. Well, we rolled double sevens. Our guide was Jason, and he's been on the river for 20 years. It shows. He was the most outstanding guide ever. He was knowledgeable about the river and the wildlife we saw. He was simply a font of information. He gauged the temper of our tour perfectly and knew exactly what we were after. Then he tailored our experience. The river was not overly high, but we did have a good amount of water (appr. 750 fps) and Jason used it to its maximum. I'm firmly convinced that our experience would not have been the same without Jason. The rapids we did encounter were maximized. He knew I could make a 30' jump into the water no problem and didn't stop me from attempting it. He knew we had a 7 yr-old at the prow of the boat and kept checking to make sure the journey wasn't too intense for him. We're looking forward to a more intense ride next time and I'll not do it without River Runners and Jason. I only wish we had more than $80 to tip him. He's worth far more.

My family of five recently used river runners for our rafting trip. After scouring the Internet looking for the best option we went with River Runner and it was absolutely perfect. By far the best choice. Due to our children's ages we did two rafting rides: one adult and the two younger kids did the family's float and the other adult and teenager did the half day browns canyon tour. The family float finished about an hour before the half day- so dad and kids hung out at the riverside grill and bar. The kids played in the sand pit with the toys and dad had some food and drinks. The scenery is amazing and service was outstanding. Alex was the tour guide for the half day and he was outstanding. We all had a blast! Highly recommend and if we are ever back out in the area we will return!
Thank you for a fantastic day of fun. Our kids are still talking about it! Greg & Heather Pincelli

NUMBERS! I rafted the Numbers section of the Arkansas with River Runners. Great working with groups- good supply of gear to rent and very organized. I wish the trip could have been longer. My guide was alright, but others seemed very fun. I wish he had told us more about the river and the rapids. It was safe and fun but exciting.

Particularly wanted to point out how awesome the River Runners Grill is. If you're passing through on 285, check it out! Excellent Fish Tacos, maybe 8 beers on tap(?), including a bunch from our local Eddyline Brewery, great Margaritas and the River Rummer is another very popular cocktail. New this year on the menu is a carne asada burrito that was very good and sizeable, chicken tacos, quesadillas, a kids menu and a huge new sandbox at the river's edge. If you have kids, it doesn't get much more kid friendly than this!

I've rafted with River Runners twice, and both times I had very good experiences. Browns Canyon (between Buena Vista and Salida) is an intermediate run, and the Royal Gorge (Canon City) is a more advanced run.

Both of my raft guides were friendly and professional... well, as professional as a grungy-type raft guide can be, ha ha. But seriously, each time our guide gave us various directions and warnings as it related to safety throughout the trip.

About the term "resort." I think this is merely a marketing strategy. It's a nice place, with their location right on the Arkansas River. (That's especially nice if you raft Browns Canyon; there's no shuttle to start. You merely launch behind the building.) They also have a few campgrounds, a volleyball court and a small outdoor bar & grill, but ummm, the word "resort" is not something I'd describe the place as.

Love love love!  Took my guy here for his first ever rafting experience and he had a blast.  I've been many times before (everywhere from Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, and a week-long trip in Utah), so I know my rafting.  The drive from Denver is easy, and the scenery is beautiful.  The weather was perfect (we went in August), the river was at a great level, and our guide was amazing!!  We got really lucky and ended up just the two of us in a raft with our guide.  It was a hell of a lot more work, but there are so many different things you can do in a smaller raft that you can't in the larger ones.  We did the full day trip- a few hours of rafting in the morning, lunch break (delicious), and a few hours of rafting in the afternoon.  They also stopped off to let us do some cliff jumping, which is always a nice surprise when you're rafting.  Nothing like jumping from 20+ feet into icy cold river water.  Love it!

I highly recommend this place.  Easy to find, private river drop in, prices are on point, staff and guides were wonderful.  We'll definitely be going back again.

I was searching for a "beginners" run and this place was recommended.  It is a high volume rafting establishment and can be overwhelming to the nervous novice.  Parking difficult to find-even for 2 minutes of questions.  Two young girls running the counter were curt rather than helpful and shocked I appeared without reservations.  It is 4 miles down a dirt road off of 285.  I found a place more anxious to nurture and teach, right on the main drag.  They had many "choices" but appeared to want to cater to large parties and people without questions.  Camping also available.

First time rafter (but previously a kayaker/canoe-er) and had a BLAST.  We were the first of 3 boats with guide Erika (she and her identical, and also dread-locked twin both work at River Runners).  Erika was maybe 90 pounds but damn if she didn't kick the river's ass!

We did a half day trip which ended up being barely over 2 hrs due to the high/faster water, but it was still worth it.

They have a small gift shop which shows pictures of your group taken during your trip (sold for $25!!! for a 8x10 or $50 for a CD...rip-off, especially since I brought my own camera with an underwater casing), and a small bar/grill overlooking the river which serves fish and chicken tacos, and beer and margaritas, which we didn't try at all.

Highly  recommended, and if I ever make it back to BV, I'll be certain to take a whole day trip with River Runners!  I believe they also sell discount tickets to one of the area hot springs ($6 instead of $15 pp).
