Delicious steak! Â I usually recommend friends to a different restaurant when they say they want a steak. Â No more. Â Robert's gets my recommendation for a delicious rib eye. Â My husband also enjoyed a yummy special with pork ribs and shrimp. Â Portions are large so be prepared for leftovers for lunch the next day. Â We were there for a birthday party and the service was also good--unobtrusive and gentle.
Review Source:This review on drinks, ambiance, customer service, and general feel of the place only. Went in for a drink at the wine bar. Our bartender was one of those exceptional customer service people who has a natural knack for providing a great experience without being the slightest bit pretentious. Very well informed, very good conversationalist, extremely professional, and very willing to let you try anything first to see if you liked it. He seemed to also be managing the restaurant as well and was extremely attentive to each and every guest that walked through that door. That place was run as smooth as I have seen a place run. I cannot comment on the food yet as I just had wine, but this is a top notch comfortable and classy joint. If I was opening a restaurant, I would want that guy as my main man. If you want to sample some great local wines with a professional, go here. Thank you Trevor!
Review Source:Very rarely do I find a restaurant with a perfect balance of class, service, decor, and food. With Roberts, our dining experience was exactly that.
The quality of central coast eateries continues to surprise me. Roberts located in Paso Robles is fine dining at its best. A place where the understated elegance expressed class with nary a sign of pretentiousness. At Roberts plating is not more important than the taste of the food nor is it a underhanded way of limiting the amount of food served. Where service means a partner in the dining experience rather than a robot that is there to get you in and out of the establishment quickly and where a waiter knows the difference between dry and wet age and the subtle qualities of of various regional reds - Trevor thank you.
I recommend the Braised Pork Belly on Asian slaw to start with. The Grilled Prime Ribeye Steak - Crispy Mac N' Cheese, Sautéed Broccoli and Blue Cheese Butter is out of this world. Even thought the ribeye was not dry aged, it was still tender with robust essence of  beef and cooked just the way I requested - Seared on the outside politely pink on the inside. The Mac n Cheese? Who told the chef how brown I love my cheese? Follow this up with their Melon Salad to cleanse the palate. You will thank me!
Next time? Heck I went around and tasted every dish at my table and well... next time I just need to close my eyes and point.
Went here last night with some out-of-town friends. Â It was our first time at the restaurant too and we will be back for sure. Â My wife and I shared the crispy spring rolls and roasted pear salad. Â Both were great. Â I had the Mahi Mahi for a main course and I will come back for that dish again. Â It was very tasty and well prepared. Â My wife had the pasta dish with bacon, peas and cream sauce and it was fantastic too. Â Great wine list comprised of mostly local wineries. Â
My only complaint (which drops it to 4 stars) is that the 4 top tables are a little close together and felt like we were sitting on top of each other. Â Only half the restaurant was full and they could have spread people out more. Â 5 star food though.....
Set up a last minute Father's Day brunch here. I emailed a week or so ahead thinking all the tables would be booked, but Kelsey was able to squeeze me in. At first I reserved for 6, but two canceled and I changed last minute with no problem.
When I arrived I was blown away with how nice the restaurant was. Loved the white walls, dark accents and the blue linen and menus. The chairs were also some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in. The prices here are just stupid for the quality of food they provide (like stupid good). We ordered crab cakes for a starter, and they were some of the best I've ever had. I got an ahi tuna salad, and also tried the fish tacos. Dad got the steak salad and said it was great. They were going to bring Dad a glass of champagne for father's day, then we mentioned that I had gotten engaged the night before and were going to order a bottle to celebrate, and the waiter immediately says: then I'll bring out a bottle of champagne on the house. Just like that, no- let me check with my manager, etc. I was blown away by the gesture.
Great food, great service, super generous. That's five stars in my book.
The fact that this restaurant has the same number of stars as Artisan is completely misleading to anyone who has not dined at both restaurants. Artisan is FAR superior!! The two cannot even be compared. To start, we had the wedge salad that was nothing special at all. Then we had the mahi-mahi, which was good, and the salmon which was blah (and a little fishy). I will say that the service is good. However, some patrons were loud and not dressed for a nice restaurant. Definitely I would not expect that a patron would be allowed to have a dog on his lap inside the restaurant during dinner!! It was a smaller dog, and a well-behaved dog, but the fact that there was a dog on a guy's lap during dinner (seated inside) says enough. We will not be coming back.
Review Source:We really needed a nice meal after a seriously long cross-country move and too many hotel stays. Â Robert's offered a really nice atmosphere and good service. Â We picked it because it offered such a good selection of food and we weren't sure what we were in the mood for. Â My husband had prime rib and I had the macadamia nut crusted halibut. Â Both dishes would have been perfect had it not been for the extreme over-salting. Â I definitely believe in seasoning but this was just too much. Â You can always add a little salt but it's impossible to take it away.
Review Source:Can't say enough about this place. Â Excellent location, excellent decor, excellent service, excellent food, excellent wine.
I had perfectly prepared Rib eye (very generous portion) with  Crispy Mac N' Cheese, Sautéed Broccoli and Blue Cheese Butter. It was as good as it sounds.  My wife had the Grilled Beef Fillet with Creamy Spinach, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Red Wine Sauce.
Only real shame is that we're from the L.A. area and can't come back here for a while. Â
Great comfortable atmosphere. Â Service was perfect. Â I love this place.
Excellent service. The wait staff was great, kept my glass full.
I had the poke for starters. It has a cayenne sesame oil which gave it an excellent kick. It was a little heavy on black pepper. For the entree, I had the New Zealand lamb chop. It came out a little salty but other than that the flavor was tasty.
great quite delicately styled restaurant. Perfect service including tasting of wines by the glass before they pour and continued interest in your tables well being throughout the meal. Food was well prepared and all had small twists on classic ideas. Every thing was well executed. Hard to beat the prices as well.
Review Source:We had an enjoyable dinner here. After a day of wine tasting, Robert's was a nice end to a fun day of exploring Paso's wineries.
The best was our ribeye, which was flavorful and had nice sides to accompany it.
Service was very good for a Saturday night (late night).
Wide selection of local wines from the Paso area.
We had an amazing meal here. Â Trevor was an exceptional server, funny, and paced the dinner well. Â The caesar salad was yummy, the special potato soup was super cheesy and had bacon on top....bacon makes it all good. Â We brought a bottle of Tablas Creek, and were charged a 10. Corkage fee, quite reasonable. Â This is a lovely place to dine when in Paso.
Review Source:Just had a fantastic meal here last night. The service and the food were equal stars at this restaurant. Starting with the food, the portions are generous without sacrificing flavor, quality, and inventiveness(I always worry about that at fancier restaurants). They serve warm bread with a tapenade. Yum!
The service was impeccable! Our server gave us tastings of all their cabs and would have offered more if we had not found a great glass. He poured HUGE glasses for each of us and as there was only one serving left in the bottle he gave us the rest of the bottle, no charge.
We had a leisurely meal with our water glasses constantly filled and Sinatra playing in the background. We never felt rushed or unattended. You MUST go there!
Wow! Â Where do we start?
Let's keep it simple. The food was AMAZING, the service was great, and the atmosphere was first class. The place was classy, yet they accepted us in t shirts and shorts. It was also cool that they didn't charge a corkage fee for local wines.
Great experience and we cannot wait to come back.
Having struck out on making a last minute reservation at the more expensive but excellent Artisan, we tried Roberts based on good reviews which was a great find! Comfortable/relaxed but elegant dining area, excellent food (especially recommend the pork belly appetizer (could double as a main), and mahi mahi main course). spinach tart appetizer and halibut were also very good good wine list with many local wine selections with a chance to taste before making your wine selection. Portions are large and in the $20-25 range for mains with side. Attentive, knowlegeable and friendly but not hovering service. Depending on your seating, can be a bit noisy, but definitely worth a visit ( or a few!)
Review Source:My boyfriend and I went to Paso Robles for the first time this past weekend when we chanced on this gem. We weren't dressed properly for such a beautiful restaurant, but they didn't even blink an eye as they led us to a nice table in the center of the intimate dining room. I couldn't decide on which wine to order so the waiter brought me four samples to try so I could settle on the perfect one. He was really knowledgeable and didn't try to push me into a wine he liked- he actually listened to what I like.
My boyfriend never eats fish, but he couldn't resist ordering the macadamia nut crusted halibut with green onion rice. I ordered the short rib pasta. They were both amazing! Balanced flavors, everything was fresh and beautiful and with good portion sizes.
Perfect for a date or a group of friends or even with your family! So much fun!
My boyfriend and I went for Valentines Day.. their menu had some great choices. I went with the lamb and my boyfriend had the land & sea.. both excellent! Their potato pave is to die for along with the reduction? That came with the lamb dish. Definitely want to come back in the future. Just to add, we had wonderful service from Eric and the bussers kept our water classes full!
Review Source:I recently ate here for lunch and dinner and I enjoyed both experiences. Â I went to a lunch meeting and had the seared ahi salad. Â I really loved it...the ahi was prepared perfectly and the lemon vinaigrette was bright & fresh. Â Then I came here with a large dinner group a few nights later and had the lamb at the recommendation of my husband...I also really loved it. Â The flavor was nice and it was cooked well. Â I loved the potatoes that came with it, but couldn't eat them all! Â The service was great for both times, which always speaks volumes of how a restaurant is ran. Â I love the classic American vibe of the place, which I feel really speaks through out the entire experience. Â You feel this right as you walk in with the classic black and white photos against the white walls. Â The photos are some of the beautiful moments captured by photographer greats. Â I know I'll be back. :)
Review Source:I love roberts! Their steak with a side of mac n cheese has definitely won me over. Seriously theres probably no need to try anything else :) They also have a lovely wine list, and have no problem giving you tastes until you find something to fit your fancy. But really, I hate restaurants that get annoyed when you want to taste, then god forbid you do not like the wine. No such service here! they are so accommodating and the food is great! Highly recommend :)
Review Source:We popped into Robert's after a dinner, looking for some dessert and one more glass of wine. Â We sat at the bar and had such a great time. Â
The bartenders/servers who served us/kept us company were amazing! We shared stories and laughed with them. Â They also gave us great suggestions for wine tasting the following day! Â We were able to sample a couple of wines before deciding on a glass of Niner Sangiovese (which was perfect!). And we tried a couple of desserts- which were great.
We had such a great time that we wanted to return for dinner the following night, but had a little too much fun wine tasting and didn't have time to make it there before they closed. Â
Needless to say- we had a great time! Great ambience and awesome staff! Can't wait to return next time we are in Paso to try the food!!
Been here a few times, last experience was with the GF's family. 3 out of 5 orders were not available " we just ran out " I hate when a restaurant can't order enough food to last threw the dinner crowd. Especially if its a " special " . Â So my second choice was ok, nothing special and when it was time for dessert I'm stoked cause I've been eyeballing their chocolate cake all night. Well we all order dessert and the whole table receives there's but I do not. Waiter says " sorry didn't hear your order, what would you like ?" Â I ask for chocolate cake and guess what ?? Â " oh sorry , I just served our last piece to the table next to you" what a F'n joke. Well I def was not Impressed. Â I've been here before and had a better experience. Â However I feel running out of multiple menu items to be not acceptable.
Review Source:I've had a lot of good food in my time, but what's rare is to get great service. Â I'm a food and wine connoisseur-- I want to try everything. Â Our server not only recommended several wines but brought us a whole series of tastes without hesitation. Â With food, he went out went out of his way to offer honest opinions and make sure we liked what we got, and the actual pours of the wines we got were very generous. Â Being generous up front goes soooo far in terms of your overall experience. Â That particular night, we weren't all that hungry and I had to drive, so we split an entree and a tasting flight, but we had a wonderful experience and because of the service we would readily look forward to going back. Â A wonderful memory.
Review Source:Wow! Â Paso Robles is such a fun place to visit, and Robert's is such an amazing restaurant to represent the quaint, wine-centric community. Â My mom and I visited early on a Saturday evening after driving up the 101 on our way to my house in the Bay Area. Â We were hungry, tired, and not looking our best (I was wearing yoga pants and running shoes, whoops) and the beautiful interior of Robert's was a bit intimidating, but our server, Trevor (?) was the best. Â Really kind, knowledgeable about the food and local wines, accommodating and fun! Â
We ate a ton of delicious food. Â I mean... I ended 2012 on quite the gluttonous note, but everything on the menu sounded so good. Â I like that they served a tomato spread with the bread, it was fresh and delicious. Â The bread wasn't the best I've ever had but seriously, I was not here for bread. Â We split a bottle of wine, I think it was a naked chardonnay? Â I don't remember. Â Ooops. Â
We split the tart for an appetizer.  It was covered in delicious buttery mushrooms, bacon, and some crunchy delicious stuff on top.  I dominated it.  THEN, I had the wedge "salad".  That is not a salad, it is a sin.  Buttermilk dressing, bleu cheese, bacon, and CARMELIZED ONIONS on top of a little wedge of lettuce.  But I wasn't done yet!  For my entrée, I had the special which was wild coho salmon, topped with prawns, served with minted snap peas and root vegetables, which I replaced with their garlic mashed potatoes.  Hee, hee, hee, I'm a glutton.  So delicious.  My mom had the arugula salad (ehh, that was more salad like, not like my wedge salad) and the mushroom lasagna, which was so rich and delicious.  A little burned on the bottom, but it just made a delicious crust.  By this point in our bottle of wine, Robert's could do no wrong. Â
I am in love with Robert's and can't wait to come back!
We were passing through Passo Robles. There are a few good restaurants for foodie / wine loving people. Robert's came well recommended.
It has a very discrete, restrained look and feel. It has a certain upscale home-wares catalogue look. I can imagine my mum loving it.
There's nice music, very pleasant staff who try their best to advise on wine. But note - not sure they are trained in that aspect of the menu. And the food was good, if not innovative and it was VERY over-salted.
Definitely one of the better choices in PR.
The food was 5 stars, unfortunately the sevice was 1 star...at best.
We went for lunch and our table had burgers, fish and chips, and a chicken pannini. All of the food was excellent!! We all were super excited to find a new favorite restaurant...that is until we had the worst service ever. Our waitress didn't check on us or even refill our drinks. We finally flagged down another tables waiter to pay, 20 minutes after that she finally brought over our receipt. We will definitely give it another try, but only because we enjoyed our meal so much. The decor was  more upscale, but still comfortable. They had a large wine list, but were a little unhappy that the other "good" waiter was going over all of the wineries with his table, and we were sitting there twiddling our thumbs waiting for our waitress to reappear from who knows where. Hopefully next time we can give Robert's the 5 star review it deserves.
As I planned my first trip to Paso Robles, I decided to check out this restaurant, and I'm glad I did! The interior is super cute with the pin cushioned chairs and black and white photo art. The tarp ceiling could use a make over but, it's not too bad.
The food is delicious! I ordered the artichoke dip (which came out too lemony, so we sent it back). The chef agreed and offered to give us an additional appetizer for free. So, we ordered the crab cakes which was served in a sweet and sour sauce...so bomb!
For my entree I had the short ribs and mushrooms served in a pasta sauce. Man, these are big portions with quality food! The corking fee was $10 which is reasonable.
Overall, had a great experience. The staff was friendly and informative.
Decent food but it took forever to get our meals. Â It does seem a little pricey for the quality of the food you get....but the wine was delicious. Â We ordered a steak and my kids got a burger. Â The burger was good, my steak was just OK and the veggies were down right terrible. Â But on the plus, the frenchfries were tasty.
Not sure if I would go back here honestly.
I was hankering for a salad and had heard good things about their wedge salad so I dropped in to try it. Â I seated myself at the bar, beer and wine only, with only three types of beer (Stella, Blue Moon and I forget the other) which was fine. Â I ordered the wedge salad and crab cakes. Â I was really pleased with the wedge salad which had a little bite to it, and the blue cheese crumbles, bacon and caramelized onions added to it - overall very well done.
Now, the beer was lukewarm, almost room temp..horrible..and the crab cakes, tiny and mushy, which they tried to cover up with appearance and presentation, dashed with a little tomato topping.. definitely  not worth the $10..I guarantee I could buy the same quality from Safeway and make them taste better..don't see paying $5 for a luke warm stella..
Overall, the wedge salad was good, shud have stuck with that and a glass of water. Â It was definitely not a $30 dining experience.
We went on a Monday night, the locals told us that we would not need a reservation. However just to be safe we made one, it was our anniversary. When making the reservation, who ever was on the phone acted like they might be booked, and said they could squeeze us in. We arrived about 10 minutes early to find the restaurant empty except a large table of about 10 people who had been wine tasting all day and were extremely loud and drunk. Â We got sat within two feet of them.
Once seated, we got menus and water, but no wine list. Â About ten minutes of sitting there, I asked the guy who had been bringing us water, if I could have a club soda, he looked very confused. Five minutes later, a waiter came over and apologized he thought we had been taken care of, there were three tables in the whole restaurant occupied.
We ordered:
Spinach Artichoke Dip: Really good, roasted red peppers add a little bit of spice. Great flavors.
Cesar Salad: No flavor in the dressing. None, couldn't even tell what was on it.
Filet w/ mash potatoes & creamed spinach: Filet was an end cut, not the greatest piece of meat. Cooked nicely though. Spinach was over salted, to the point where I couldn't eat it at all. Â Mash potatoes were good.
Ribeye w/ broccoli, & mac & cheese: Ribeye was cooked nicely; broccoli was fine; mashed potatoes had raw onions on top, overly salted.
Once the bill came we went to pay with our AE another waitress took the bill and mentioned, oh well we have problems running AE's so I don't know if it will work. Within two seconds she was back and said, yeah something is wrong with our machine. Â Do you have something else? We did, but what if we didn't and we were sitting there with no way to pay?
We were in and out of the restaurant within an hour. A fine dining experience is supposed to be longer than an hour. What is the point of them asking if  we were celebrating anything if they were just going to place us next to a huge group that was extremely loud, and than not pay attention to us.
I would not recommend this restaurant  to anyone.  We went to Artisian for lunch and the experience was much better.
My husband and I were in Paso for one night for out wedding anniversary and we did a lot of research on Yelp to find a good place for dinner. Robert's stood out among all the local spots so we gave it a shot.
No only was the lamb my husband ordered cooked to perfection, but the pasta w/chicken bacon & peas I order was also superb! The little bit of fat on the outside of the lamb just melted in your mouth! The tapenade that came with the bread before the meal was delicious too. It had little bits of green chilies in it which gave it an amazing flavor.
The service was also top notch. We came in for dinner at 9 and they were closing at 10 that night, but we never once felt rushed to leave after our meal.
My only complaint was the 'soup' I ordered before my meal. The menu said 'roasted tomato soup' but what came to the table was more like a very nicely spiced tomato dip with some flat bread. I think either the 'soup' had been on the stove all night and had reduced down to a much thicker consistency or their idea and my idea of 'soup' are very different. This appetizer would have been much better in a smaller portion with a little more bread for dipping.
All in all, if you're in Paso and want a nice dinner with a great wine list and wonderful friendly service...Robert's is your place!
During a recent wine trip to the Paso Robles area my wife and I had dinner at Robert's. My wife had done some research and concluded that Robert's was a good choice for our first night in town; she was correct! Robert's was definitely a treat.
For our first course my wife had the Wedge Salad and ordered the Roasted Tomato Soup with warm flatbread. Both items were quite delicious. The wedge salad was a nice sized wedge of crisp iceberg lettuce garnished with caramelized onions, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon and chipotle buttermilk dressing. The roasted tomato soup had a consistency that immediately said "homemade". The soup was creamy but had enough texture to let you know that it had been blended recently. For our main courses my wife had the Filet Mignon while I opted for the Roasted Wild Mushroom Lasagna. The steak was perfectly cooked and as tender as butter. The flavor was unbelievable. My Wild Mushroom Lasagna was probably the best choice on the menu (in my humble opinion). I usually prefer meaty lasagna but the mushrooms were a great substitute and the creamy garlic sauce and pesto were the perfect accompaniment.
As dessert time came around the choices for us were easy; Heaven and Hell Cake and Chocolate Soufflé Cake. Both dishes are a chocolate lovers dream and when paired with a glass of your favorite zin, is the perfect way to finish a meal.
Speaking of zin Robert's corkage fee is a mere $10. They do have an extensive wine list but if you've got a great bottle that you've picked up along the why not bring it in?
WOW!!
Hubby and I dined here based on recommendations from our hotel. I quickly checked the Yelp reviews and decided it looked promising and it definitely lived up to expectations. Actually it exceeded them. Robert's was simply fantastic!
I cannot rave enough about their wedge salad. Loaded with caramelized onions, crumbled blue cheese, bacon and creamy chipotle buttermilk dressing, this is my new favorite salad. It melts in your mouth and is absolutely to die for! I mean seriously, can you really go wrong with anything that has bacon in it?
Honestly, the salad could (should) have been enough for me, but I ordered the filet for dinner and, not surprisingly, it was a delectable delight - juicy and tender and just melted in my mouth. It was so tender I could cut the meat with my fork!
Robert's boasts an impressive dessert menu - I had a difficult time choosing. At this point I was not the least bit hungry, and since my full tummy hadn't popped yet, (and being the peanut butter whore that I am), I had to try the Heaven and Hell cake, made with layers of angel food cake, devil's food cake, and peanut butter mousse! Paired with a glass of zin, it was heavenly.
I wish I remembered our server's name as she was exceptional. Â Also, the $10 corkage fee made this a very reasonably priced meal.
