Roff School Tavern

As far as beer goes, this is the best beer selection in Meadville. They had the rotating menu of microbrews with the chalkboard before there was ever a UPick or a Taphouse up in Erie. This is a great bar with good food and a huge outdoor space that is great during the summertime. If you go to the Crawford County Fair, this is the perfect place to wind down and end the night afterwards.

How are there not more awesome reviews for this place!?

I was visiting my parents a while ago and dropped into the Roff with a few friends.  I had been away for a while and didn't realize the bar was even in existence.  This place had always been a bit of a dive in its previous ventures, so naturally I was pretty skeptical walking in the door.

As a craft beer fanatic, I'm always on the lookout for a good venue with a good selection.  As a former resident of Meadville, I had gotten skeptical with expecting a good brew selection from most Meadville venues (aside from actually visiting the local breweries).

Roff proved me wrong.  They had an impressive number of selections which were available at amazing prices.  Maybe the prices are only amazing to me because I'm used to Southeastern PA's inflated bar prices.  

Anyway.

It's a good place.  It's an even better place for out-of-towner reunions where you're looking for quality brews to try.  I knock one star off as the back room still looks kind of sketchy.  Maybe they've fixed that up a bit since, but the fluorescent lighting looks so, so tacky.

Roff School Tavern is a beer-lover's dream.  Brews from all over the world are on display at RST, ranging from the big-business brewers to lesser known microbrews.  Drafts are rotated frequently, providing an amazing variety to please everyone's palate.

RST has also begun serving food!  You can expect typical pub food, but also delicious flatbreads, burgers, and much more, and for a very reasonable price.

The highlight of Roff School Tavern is it's atmosphere.  There are many events, including music showcases, BBQ's, etc. in its outdoor beer garden.  The Beer Garden also has ladder golf, horseshoe pits, and Bocce.  They've recently attracted a lot of great local musical talent.  

Roff is also the venue for a great trivia night.  (Monday Nights during the school year.)  Teams compete for weekly bragging rights, and the event draws large crowds.  

Roff also offers a beer club, providing prizes and recognition for those who try many unique beers.  They're really doing a great job of expanding horizons!
