My husband and I stopped by here for lunch this past Sunday when we were in the area touring Interstate Park and the glacial potholes.  It was a busy day at the restaurant, so we expected a bit of a wait when we sat down.  We were lucky to find a table that had just opened up.  It didn't matter how busy the place was--our waitress came over within minutes to clear the table and to take our drink orders.  She quickly brought us our pitcher of pop.  When we ordered our food, our Rueben poppers appetizer came out super fast.  According to the menu, these are new on the menu.   They were delicious!  We had a bit of a wait for our burgers, but we felt fine relaxing in the sun after eating our appetizer.  Eventually, our burgers arrived.  My husband had the Ragin' Cajun burger, and I had the California burger.  Both were great!  We found the red onions that came with my burger quite fresh and flavorful.  I upgraded to a full order of onion rings, and they were perfect.  If the food is this great when the place is swamped, it must be amazing when they aren't so busy!  I highly recommend Romayne's.

Romaynes is a Taylors Falls institution. Inside is just your every day average sports type bar. The real attraction is sitting outside on the patio and watching the action of downtown Taylors Falls. Bikers are always welcome!!

There is one thing I would recommend about this restaurant, being in Taylor's Falls. However, my enthusiasm for this place doesn't go a lot further.
Some friends thought Romayne's would be the perfect place for a Boody Mary and lunch. They had talked all summer long about the great Bloody Mary's. On our arrival, we were pleased to be able to get a table as the place was packed.
When the Bloody Mary arrived it appeared to be decent with a beef stick, a good sized pickle slice and a pepperconi. I was mistaken that it would come in a GLASS glass with the salt and paprika around the top. It turned out that the beef stick and pickle were good, but they didn't create a good drink. It was OK. (One of the guys had requested a spicy drink and didn't get it). Nothing special. The chicken sandwich I ordered was good and they had added seasoned potato chips.
The burgers that the other five people had ordered arrived at the same time. My husband and the other couple who had never been there compared notes later and complained about the burgers being burnt.
Our server managed very efficiently. But mostly this place coasts along for it's location and apparently some very generous coupons. My husband said he would not return.

On a beautiful day exploring Taylors Falls, this is the only outdoor area to get a burger.  So it's hoppin'.

Sadly, it's not worth the wait.

I know they were ridiculously busy, but there are so many great burger joints in MN that a dry burger plus a dry bun is inexcusable.

Everyone at my table shared my sentiment.   It took forever to get our check and get out of there, and that's all we wanted to do.

There are a few other places down the road.  Try those because this place is only good if you sit at the bar inside and have a few beers to get out of the summer heat.

    And the bathrooms are gross.

PS:  It really does pain me to write a bad review, so I hope the powers that be try to improve the food quality.

I head to Romayne's once a year to see my boyfriend's dad's band play at the annual city festival that they have.  This summer, lightning struck the bar just as we arrived, there were firemen everywhere within minutes, and the show had to be canceled since there were tornadoes in the area.  (I'd like to point out that we drove through said tornadoes to get there, that's how fun it is.)  Since Romayne's is cool, they had the band back last weekend to do a make up show.

I really love the bartenders here, they are no-nonsense chicks who I think I'd be friends with if I saw them more often.  Very friendly, and always quick to spot the one in the crowd who's craning their neck to try to catch their eye and get a drink.  (One of them served my dad blended margaritas all night without rolling her eyes once, which pretty much deserved a medal.)  They have a food stand out in the "yard" (it is fenced in...) that serves the most giant walleye sandwich that I've ever laid eyes on, and their onion rings are fabulous.  Didn't love the tartar sauce, but the sandy was so good it didn't need it.  The fire pit was a nice touch, I've always only been during warmer months so I was quite thankful for it on Saturday night when temps were hovering around 40.

Finally, I'd like to share the fact that the ladies' is a room with two toilets in it that are not contained by stalls.  Nope, they're just freestanding in the room a couple of feet away from one another.  Better hope you're in there with your best friend or sister!  It's hilarious.  (Yes, the door locks).

There are already countless reasons to go to Taylors Falls, so just add this to the list the next time you're there.
