I went in here knowing it was super cheesy, I just wanted  a cocktail. I ordered a sidecar. The bartender didn't know how to make one and asked me if I knew. I don't know if it gets any simpler than that. I know the score with ordering cocktails in small towns and I'm not trying to be a pompous new yorker, but that's a little extreme. The place looks like a teenaged girls bedroom also. That or a strip club.
Review Source:The bartender was nice, we asked for hot toddy's on a cold December night and he kindly obliged. Â The place looks fancy, they are definitely going for a bouji fancy look and can come off a little over the top for the area, especially when their bathrooms are infested with fruit flies. Â But regardless not a bad place to stop in for a quick drink before or after your walk-about in the zocalo nearby.
Review Source:I liked the joint. Â It's snazzy interior and the kind folks I met, Bartenders Johanna (who knew the WIFI code) and Winston. Â The owner, Heidi was warm and welcoming to my out-of-town pals. Â I agree that the well drinks are pricey (they'd get another star from me if they keep the same atmosphere and great customer service, if they lowered their prices some). Â I didn't know this but you can order off the menu of La Boca and il Piatto and the servers will bring it to the Rouge Cat -- that is very cool.
Review Source:Hip, young crowd we've not seen anywhere else in Santa Fe.
Drinks on the weak side and priced high but the lounge feel was cool and the music was just loud enough to enjoy but not drown out the conversation as we kicked back in the love seats. The downstairs was closed off which was fine. We were in the mood to relax with cocktail in hand and not grind to house music.
If I'm near, I'll pop back in for something different from this town.
I'm sure the locals have a snarky, derisive nickname for this place, and I'm guessing it's "The Road Kill."
Thankfully, it was empty when we went, so we settled out the tab after only two watery cocktails. Twenty dollars? Seriously?
We left, laughing and grateful to have learned that lesson early enough in the evening to escape with our wallets intact. Yes, Rouge Cat, we get the message. You don't want us to come back.
This is a wonderful bar/night club! It has the largest dance floor in Santa Fe, (downstairs), and a really beautiful upstairs lounge. Both floors have full bars and bartenders who are very friendly and make great drinks! There is a variety of music on different nights by local and visiting DJ's, including mainstream dance, funky club, progressive house, trash disco, electronica, and now a monthly 80's night! The atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable, and not only is the staff friendly and professional, but i have met some of the most wonderful people there! Â Santa Fe can at times be a little cold to tourists- but not here! Staff and patrons welcome everyone and try to make everyone feel content, and to have a great time. It is an everybody, (over 21), bar- so it is easy to feel comfortable here. Also, the bartenders are really great! They are welcoming, professional, inventive, and practice mixology- yum! For some original drinks, try the Dreamcycle, Feng Shui, Moulin Rouge, or a Raspberry Pineapple infused Lemon Drop if you have a taste for something sweet- also they make an amazing traditional style Cuban Mojito. Or- if you like things a little more savory, try a Tokyo Underground, an Effen Cuke or a Roasted Green Chile Margarita with a powdered green chile and salt rim- invented here! If you are a local, or just visiting, it is a must to check out! This is a really wonderful little gem of a place that is warm and welcoming and so much fun!
Review Source:OK, so now I've been to the Rouge Cat, and I'll up it a star just for being another bar, but I can't see me coming here much. For one thing, I asked EVERY visible employee what the WiFi key was, and none of them had any idea what I was talking about.
Train. The. Employees.
Now granted, this was a gay pride event, with outdoor access (no beer outside), leaving many a queen bitching about that... I mean really, why bother?
$10 dollar cover seemed excessive, and the large amount of security boys (all straight) was an interesting choice to make.
$7.00 well drinks were poured OK, but even so, $7.00!!! This isn't New York City! Even in San Francisco, well drinks are $4.50!
