Roy Rogers

I used to be a fan of Roy Rogers, particularly the fried chicken, the sandwiches, and the burgers. The fixins bar was always a big plus. I was disappointed when many of their establishments closed, but also because it seems they never kept up with the competition. Now the majority of their establishments in New York State are along interstate rest areas, and unfortunately the worst aspects of fast food service are in effect here.  You're limited to whatever is available in the warmer trays, without knowing how long it's been there, or asking for a special order, which seems to take forever here.  And of course, you're paying rest-area fast-food prices for the food and especially the drinks.

Ironically, Roy's will still be where I buy a meal if I stop for one at this rest area, because it's still my preference over what else is there.
