    3.5 Stars- Yum

    PLAIN, SIMPLE, GOOD EATS.

This place is your little neighborhood hole-in-the-wall that makes "that thing you like".

I have only eaten here twice, but ate the same thing and it's my favorite thing.  Their big burger and I will tell you why...

    BURGERS- need I say more?
The burgers are handmade patties and they have a flavor to them that you just aren't prepared for that is so yummy you get addicted to it.  I swear I think he puts oregano or thyme in the burgers and it gives such a distinctive flavor that you MUST try it out.

    ATMOSPHERE
Yes, it's a dive inside. Clean, but old and divey.  But, some of the best food I've had comes out of someone's good ole labor of love.  As long as it's clean and the food is too, that's all that matters.

    SIDES
I suggest keeping it simple with onion rings or fries on the side and that's it.  The burgers are fairly large, especially the big one, so you won't need to eat anything else.

These eats satisfy that burger craving you've been having that even Five Guys and Great Plains cannot hit.  This one hits the spot.

Best place for a bite to eat in Milan.  Friendly staff, great food, excellent value and plenty of parking.  Burgers are huge and delicious.  Just brace yourself for the food coma.

This is our favorite kind of place. Mom and pop bbq joint tucked away just off of Main Street America. You can watch the food being cooked right in front of you while the owner is sitting at the end of the counter with a half eaten sandwich calling out the answers to Jeopardy. Waitresses call you by name and if they don't know it they'll just call you darlin'. it's that kind of place and we love it.

There wasn't anything on the menu we didn't like. Burgers and fries. Chicken sandwich. Pulled pork sandwiches with the coleslaw thrown right on top. And damn is it delicious. Cheesesteak. The bbq sauce is a bit sweet so if you prefer the bite of a KC style sauce you may have a hard time with it, but if you don't mind the sweet stuff, you won't mind this. Also, I know people are gonna think we're full of shit, but consider we grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania and have tried all the Philly chessesteaks out homeland has to offer, we think we have earned the right to say this: Midwestern style cheesesteaks are better than Philly cheesesteaks and it's not even close. Maybe its because the hoagies are smaller and stuffed fuller. Or because they use orange American and not cheese whiz. Maybe its the cut of meat or the fluffier, lighter buns. We don't know. We just know we prefer it.

I would have been nice maybe if they served beer, but that's probably the only real complaint and it isn't much of one. Any time you find yourself in Southeast Michigan, seek this place out. Please. Thank us later.

Hands-down the best pulled pork for the money in Michigan!

Make sure you go to Roy's in Milan, I tried the "original" Roy's in Ypsi and it was garbage compared to Milan.

Pork, coleslaw, grilled bun and the perfect sauce (a little bite/spicy...not Applebee's sugar-goo...I'd suggest extra sauce if taking it to go).

I live about 30 minutes away so I tend to get 5-6 sandwiches to go to make the trip worthwhile.

Their burgers are also tasty and any of their fried items (chili cheese fries?) will bring a smile to your face.  The fries are steak fries so the chili cheese fries can be a meal on their own.

I've been eating here since I was a kid and have never had a bad meal (29 years later).

There isn't much else to do in downtown Milan (walk through Wilson park afterward?) but it is well worth the trip.

Slow's in Detroit is great but a different experience all together.

I was turned on to their BBQ pork sandwich by a friend and now make regular stops for it.  It's one the best I've had anywhere.  So far, this is only meal I've had there. The fries are your basic big wedge style steak fries, but I recommend the fried zucchini sticks with your pork sandwich.

First word that comes to mind...interesting...Second word: Dive!

We sat at the counter in front of the grill to get the full ambiance of the place. There is another room in "the back", but we wanted to be where the action is!

3 of us got the the  1/2 pound "Big One" with Cheese. The name aptly described the size (I can only imagine what the 1 pound Bubba Burger is like). The burger is automatically topped with onion, tomato, lettuce, and mayo (I could have done without the mayo, but didn't know to ask for it without). The cooking method is unique and results in a very good tasting burger with good texture (not too much overworking of the beef here!). Personally, the only downside was that it didn't come "to order" Everything was pretty much well done. This too could have been my fault, but we were never asked how we wanted anything cooked or topped. Several of us had the Big One, and the consensus was a big thumbs up! Another in our group got the quarter pounder (way too small for me!).

2 others had the cheese steak Hoagie. one with onions & peppers, the other with unions, peppers, and mushrooms. They looked extremely good, and the sirloin looked so fresh I could have eaten it raw. As it was, both reported that the monstrous sandwiches were top grade!
Side include a mix of zucchini fries, fried mushrooms, fries, and chili cheese fries. All were pretty standard "throw the frozen side in the fryer and serve it up" types of dishes. There was certainly no lack of grease to be found. The chili cheese fries I had were maybe a 1.5 star, certainly nothing to write home about. The chili was bland, the cheese was a slice of American from the burger grill.

Stopped by for a carry-out pork sandwich.  Can't vouch for the restaurant itself.

This has to be the best $4 you can spend.

    Pork, sauce, coleslaw, bun.

    Thanks for stopping by.

One sunny afternoon, two young lovers entered Roy's for the BBQ pork sami. The young waitresses offered them basic little and the regular crew at the counter watched as the lovers walked past them to the quiet of the back room.  The boy ate his dripping sandwich on a plain white bun and remembered his childhood and how Roy's looked exactly the same and the sauce was just as he had had as a little kid- brown, spiced and rich. The girl devoured it and day dreamed of Lizano sauce from Costa Rica and concluded that the two sauces were very similar. And, in fact, the eatery and Costa Rican stands, were also quite alike.
All in all a good experience was had. The young couple left with full stomachs, full pockets, and a pleasant simple American dinner.

Best BBQ pork ever!  We order it for every party we have. I think people come for the BBQ and not the party. We occasionally eat there but the place is your typical hole in the wall that you aren't quite sure about till you take that first bite. All of a sudden you could care less about the anything but level table or the bathroom door that's 2 feet away and savor every bite.

I'm from South Carolina but was visiting family in Michigan and was lucky enough to get a burger from Roy's.  I LOVE everything about this place.  The burgers are AMAZING.  I'm craving one 3 months later.
