Came on Sat July 6th and got very good service and a fantastic meal. The tri tip sandwich was hot, flavorful and juicy, loved the horseradish sauce. We also had 10 buffalo wings and the rib  special, lots of leftovers. The absolute highlight was the jalapeño cornbread that came with the special. Def worth a return visit
Review Source:I went to dinner here on Saturday night with several girlfriends and my 1-year old daughter. I had the Pesto Chicken Sandwich and it was very good. Food on the whole was better than what you would expect for pub food. The waffle fries are GREAT!
Our server was very friendly and accomodating, and we didn't wait long for our food. ..
I would definitely recommend this place - It seems to be one of the best food options in the area!
My wife and I stopped here on our way to Bordega Bay and grabbed a couple burgers - blue cheese, bacon, mayo - YUM! Standard selection of beers and booze - but exactly what we needed to make a black and tan and a gin and tonic. I want to schedule another trip to Bordega Bay just so I have an excuse to stop here!
Review Source:This off-the-beaten-path pub for locals was just the spot for our group of five over Memorial Day Weekend. It was a Saturday Night Birthday too - woo-hoo! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner of chicken wings, hamburgers, fries, and ice-cold beer on tap. The service was excellent and dinner was far better than your typical bar food. We had no idea that Triple D had been here before, but I bet he thought it was 'off the chain' too! Free jukebox, a pool table, and new friends at the bar.. we were dancing and sashaying and singing and having a grand time. A big shout-out and thanks to Eric, our bartender, for keeping our glasses filled and contributing to a very memorable evening. I'll never forget this place!
Review Source:Haven't been here in ages, but the one time I did go, it was fantastic. The place is very divey/biker-bar-ish, but if that's not your scene, you can always sit outside. We sat outside, not because of any atmospheric discomfort, but just because it was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon. My dad, I think, had some sort of burger, which he loved, and my mom and I shared a big order of the original spicy buffalo wings, which were killer! The perfect amount of spicy, with celery alongside, and I believe I had a Lagunitas IPA., which is always a refreshing choice for hot wings and hot weather.
The only reason I haven't been back is that it's so far off the beaten path..it'd be one thing if I had a reliable DD to navigate River Road back into town after a few hours at Russian River Pub, but when I go for wings and beers, I'm certainly not in any condition to be driving home on such a winding road. Unfortunately, the distance and required driving skill level combine as a deterrent, which is a total shame. Still, sometime soon I really do want to go back..I'll make it a goal for this summer :]
Seriously, though, if you love buffalo wings, try this place. You won't be disappointed. Last time I was there, at least, the patio was also dog-friendly, which I know is a big plus for locals of very dog-friendly Sonoma County.
Went here based on the yelp reviews and was not disappointed. It is a pub, and we were totally in the mood for some good food and chill place. Bartender was our waiter. Had a few beers and went for the prime rib sandwich and tri tip sandwich. The wings looked great and i heard about some turkey special that sounded awesome. Both our sandwiches were good (i knew i ordered well when he warned me it was very blue cheesy!). The horseradish sauce on mine was perfect. Both sandwiches were huge, we took both back to the hotel for a super tasty snack the next day. Definitely go visit and enjoy!
Review Source:I friggin LOVE this place. Ultimate dive bar food. The wings are the best and I've loved everything else I've tried here. The Pesto Chicken Sandwich on Ciabatta Garlic Bread is my favorite. The servers are always super friendly and they have a full bar and some awesome beers on tap (if you're into that kind of thing). Sometimes I feel like driving the two hours just because I'm craving their food!
Review Source:Russian River Pub is just oh so Russian River. It has been locally owned and operated for over 25 years and you can feel the character and history sing from their charming and warm interior.
Wendy has since taken over the place since 2005 and has done a masterful job of keeping the place inviting and friendly. We stopped in here on Sunday morning for some breakfast and sunned ourselves on the outdoor patio. Due to it being the weekend and a number of festivities happening in the area - the place was slammed and we waited awhile for out food, but Wendy and the rest of the staff made sure to check in on us throughout our time.
I ordered a large size dinner salad - which was basically fresh greens, sliced carrot, tomatoes, and cucumber and a side of house-made vinaigrette. The salad was basic, but was bursting with flavor. The rest of the crew - stuck to breakfast fare and got a delicious assortment of poached eggs, superbly seasoned potatoes and sausage. Our bill was absurdly low. It ended up being around twenty dollars for four of us!
If you're in the hood - definitely stop into RRP and try their unreal chicken wings. Cozy up to the bar, check out their free jukebox, get a cold pint, and get ready for epic-ly animated Russian River conversations.
Trust.
The Mrs. and I were in Guerneville for the 4th of July last week and alway find it a bit challenging to find decent food on the Russian River. Â We always try to eat at Boon Eat + Drink but with our picky 11 year old son this just wasn't an option.
Yelpers recommended this spot and they didn't disappoint. Â It's a bit divey but very clean and there was a nice mix of locals and tourists. Â I definitely didn't feel all local eyes on us the minute walked in and that's a good thing.
We ordered both the hot and BBQ wings, a side salad with homemade ranch and the French Dip with their fries. Â Each one was cooked well and very fresh. Â The burgers ordered around us were HUGE and looked amazing. Â Next time I'm getting one for sure....
The staff seemed very attentive and the poor waitress was slammed since it was a holiday and we heard her say she was supposed to get off at 5pm (it was around 7 when we showed up). Â Still, she was super nice and never made us feel rushed.
Big props to the nice beer selection, the FREE jukebox and a nice pool table in the middle of it all that my stepson felt comfortable enough to play on. Â When we're up that way again we'll make this a regular stop.
Stopped in to have a bite before arriving in the Russian River area. Â I wasn't sure what to expect, having seen it on Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives. Â I would say it is in the Dive category. Â We arrived right after one o'clock and the grill stopped serving the advertised Crab cake benedict. Â I instead ordered Coconut prawns and a side salad. Â I had a small child with me and was worried she would not be allowed inside to dine since it was a bar area. Â Instead they greeted me and also offered a toy box for us to browse through by a very welcoming server who took her time to explain the menu to us. Â We also ordered chili cheese fries. Â The salad was excellent with field greens and balsamic vinegarette. Â I did not expect this in a pub. Â The coconut shrimp was tasty and 5 pieces were plenty for me since we also ordered the chili cheese fries which were a huge portion and even two of us could not finish them. Â I loved the atmosphere of the inside of the building looking like a log cabin and very rustic. Â It is signed by all visitors that come in throughout the interior.
I would definitely come back on my annual visit to the area. Â My only complaint was the floor was carpeted and seemed very dirty.
First of all, don't trust your GPS to get you here. Ours took us to the wrong place and then we couldn't find it!
When we finally arrived we were surprised to see how quiet it was inside. Our server was friendly, took our orders promptly and the food came really quickly. My husband got the tri-tip and I had the pulled pork. And the amount of fries that came with it!!! HUGE portions. The food was great, the prices good and the place was friendly.
Russian River Pub is a great little place to stop for a bite at the end (or start) of your River Road wine tasting adventure. Perfectly situated at the crook of the River, this place has a little something for everyone.
I've been a few times now, and enjoyed myself on each visit. I highly recommend the wings -- the sauce is spicy & delicious, and the bleu cheese dressing a perfect complement (even though I don't generally like bleu cheese).
There is a great beer selection and even the good stuff is fairly priced.
It's interesting to read some of the reviews for the Russian River Pub... I suppose you will either love it or hate it, depending on how "snobby" or how "open" you are, or aren't! I can't fathom how some people wouldn't feel safe here, though, referring to a previous review. In fact, many local winery owners and winemakers are regulars at RRP.
For us, we're glad we found it... We didn't see the DDD show on TV, but this place is a perfect candidate... dark, divey, and comfortable, with friendly folks and great food.
Other Yelpers were right on the money when they recommended the prime rib sandwich, pesto chicken sandwich, and the pork. I would also add the eggs and chicken fried steak to that list. It's alot like the ones I miss from my childhood in the South, sans the sawmill gravy.
Everyone in our group was happy and pleasantly surprised with the food here. We'll definitely return
The Wifey and I first found out about the RRP on TV show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We like to frequent the Russian River area and decided to try it out. I'm glad we did! This restaurant and pub is small and has a log cabin style interior. They have several big screen TV on the wall and a pool table that dominates the eating area. Â
The staff and owner, Wendy were super friendly and very attentive to their customers. I ordered their "Killer Prime Rib sandwich" and my Wife had the "Pesto Chicken Breast" sandwich. The prime rib was cooked exactly as I requested it. The prime rib is not thinly sliced, It is a slab of prime rib approximately 1/4 in thick smothered in jack cheese, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. I ordered mine with onion rings in a beer batter. Finished it all off with a 1554 Enlightened Black Ale by New Belgium Brewing. It was delicious. The pesto chicken was moist and served on what tasted like a homemade roll. The pesto was tasty without being overpowering. The chicken turned out to be half a breast. Way more than my wife could eat in one setting. RRP is clean and homey.  We really enjoyed ourselves and will visit it again the next time we come up.
I read that one reviewer from Oakland saying they felt they were lucky to leave (alive) and get back to the city? With a rate of 15.3 violet crimes per 1,000 people, Oakland is the most dangerous city in California and you're worried about Forestville? Really?!
I went here with my friend on our visit to wine country because it was featured on the pilot of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Â There was a great local feel to the place and the food was amazing. Â The onion rings were the best I have ever had and the buffalo wings were juicy and delicious. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was really good too. Â Definitely will come back!
Review Source:This place is only dive-y in the best sense of the word. Unpretentious might be a better fit. It's clean, everyone is friendly, and if you feel that they're looking at you as if you're from Mars--you probably are. (That for another reviewer)
The food is excellent for pub fare and I'm addicted to the prime rib sandwich. Large screen TV for sports (two slightly smaller ones). The best place on the river that I know of. And after 100,000 miles of two-laning in all 50 states the last 10 years, one of the best places in the country.
Best food per buck on the river!!! Best spicy chicken sandwich I've had since stony point grill in Santa Rosa closed up shop. My lady was crazy for the blue cheese burger. And if she's happy I'm happy! Plus service was fantastic. The resturaunt is clean and rustic outside seating, surrounded by trees and a huge green lawn too! Oh and the prices, its like were robbing them. Private parking a plus. Unless your a snob and drink massive amounts
of haterade, and I mean Luke iv injected, you'll love this place.
I saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network. It looked good on TV and was good in person too! I went with friends. Half of us ate breakfast and half of us ate lunch. You know food is good when a normally chatty bunch is silent as they are all stuffing their faces. No complaints.
The atmosphere is garden like on the outside and bar-like on the inside - pool table and all. Bring your own permanent marker to leave a note on the wall with the thousands of others left there. The food matches the atmosphere. You can sit outside, sip your coffee and eat breakfast. Or, you can sit at the bar with a burger. You pick to match your mood.
I try to eat healthy, so when I'm out I tend to order turkey burgers a lot...and they usually are pretty bland and tasteless
RRP's turkey burger, however, was DELICIOUS! I loved it, the pesto I had it will, and the side salad with dressing on the side!
It's hard to find local places with great service and yummy food...but this place is one of them!
Most certainly heading back when I'm up north!
We saw this place on Triple D and since we were going to be in the neighborhood we thought we would give it a try...we are all glad we did!
I had their Famous Pub Burger which came with sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar cheese (I can't have cheese, so I had no cheese), I added BBQ sauce, and also it was topped with of course lettuce, amazingly fresh tomatoes, pickles, and red onions. Â It came with either fries or if you wanted to be healthy you can have a salad, or you could substitute your fries for curly fries for an additional fee, I had their regular fries.
I knew just from looking at it that it was going to be a good burger, and although I ordered mine medium rare and it came out medium, it was still dripping juice and tasty! The fries where golden crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the kind of fries I want to accompany a great juicy burger!
All of my friends I went with enjoyed their meals as well - we all ordered the Turkey Burger, the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, and the Russian River Breakfast w/ Bacon. Â
Yes, we all agree we have all had "better" burgers, pulled pork, or breakfasts, but would this place be a place we would drive back for, ABSOLUTELY! Â The food was worth it, the price was worth it, and the service was worth it! Â We will definitely come back again!
I normally like hole in the walls, but in this case I'm going to go with: no please! I went here for breakfast after leaving the campground and here's a couple of things I learned:
1. If you are not a local they look at you as if you were an alien from mars.
2. The people in the place, probably locals looked a little like something out of the hills have eyes...I'm not trying to be judgmental, I'm just saying I felt slightly unsafe!
3. The coffee is literally the WORST coffee I have ever had...and I've had bad coffee!
4. The food is greasy (I'm not going to lie I don't always mind that, but I thought it was worth mentioning).
5. You have to get up and get your own coffee...which I actually thought was pretty cool and unique until I tasted the coffee and was annoyed that I had to get up for that craptacular cup of coffee!
All in all I was glad I made it out of there and it made me appreciate the city more so it wasn't all bad!
I LOVE locals-only places like this. Â It feels like you have discovered a treasured secret. Â
The atmosphere is very divey-- thus why it was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Â The atmosphere is dark and old, exactly what is appropriate at this kind of place. Â But, it is clean and the server was very nice. Â
We started with some of their famous garlic fried with ranch dressing- they were only ok... The curly fries looked better in the end. Â We got a grilled chicken sandwich and their Spicy BBQ burger (sub out a turkey burger patty) which was absolutely amazing!!!! We were able to sub out the fries for salads, so overall we were very satisfied eaters.
The best part of the pub was sitting with the regulars at the bar and chatting with them and the bartender. Â
This is a great lunch stop as you are heading from winery to winery in the area.
My fiance and I have been here twice now and we still like it. Â The first time we walked in here, we didn't know what to expect. Â The place looks like a biker bar/dive but the food is very tasty. Â The people who work here are also genuinely friendly, not at all what you expect from a place that looks like a biker bar. Â We love the killer prime rib sandwich and the chicken wings (naked, with the sauce on the side). Â The second time we visited, we took my fiance's brother here and the cook was backed up. Â However, our server was able to get our food to us very quickly, which again was a pleasant surprise. Â They ran out of the prime rib so I tried the french dip sandwich which was still tasty, although I preferred the prime rib.
Whenever we go back to this area, we will most likely visit this place again.
Really it should be a 3.5 but it's not a 4.
The food here is good, not great but certainly good. Â I had the prime rib sandwich and it was tasty though the bread was hard to chew which on a prime rib means the whole thing starts to get difficult to eat. Â The flavor was there though and while it took some time, it was pretty well worth it.
I also had some chili fries which could have been better but the fries were cooked well the chili just tasted either canned or 2nd day. Â What I mean is the flavor was just kinda muddled and one note. Â Fresh chili has lots of flavors kinda like a fireworks show finale, they all pop and they all come together but they are distinct. Â This just had one giant single color explosion of chili powder flavored beef. Â Not bad, but not great.
My mom had the onion rings and they were great fresh, but by the end of the meal they had lost a lot of their charm. Â But if you order them and don't let them sit through the meal they are quite good.
My guess is that if you were here for a beer and sandwich it might be a bit better. Â The place seemed to be as much bar as restaurant.
This review is for two things: Location and GARLIC FRIES. Right between Hilton Campground and River Bend campground.
We ordered garlic fries from here and they were the best I've ever had. They are skinny thin fries with tons of garlic and parsley heaped upon it.
If you are camping at either campground, you must stop here. It has also been on the show "Diners, Dive, and Drive Ins" on the Food Network. I can't wait to have some beer and try this place out again.
Surely you've heard by now that this place was on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"? Â If not, they put it on the front of the menu and their sign that is visible from the road. Â =) Â Can't blame them for trying to get some milage out of this, though.
We sat on the patio (Dog-friendly = nice!) and I had a great french dip while my wife had a turkey wrap. Â Service was slow but friendly and we we're impressed enough that we would definitely go back again.
This place didn't change our lives, but it is definitely good pub food (not just greasy comfort food, but healthy options as well!). Â As far as pub food goes, this should have a four-star rating, but the slow service brought this down to a 3 for us.
Best buffalo wings I've EVER had. Â I judge every other place against this one. Â And if I ever go to Buffalo, NY and have some "original" ones, if they don't measure up I'll tell the chef to come out to Forestville and learn how to do it right!
My husband and me and any friends we can round up always trek out here at least once a summer to go swimming and once we're thoroughly sun-baked sit by the river and eat wings and drink beer. Â And it's ALWAYS worth the trip!
I can't believe this place was on Diner's Drive In's and Dives on the Food Network. It's not that it was terrible...they have a good variety of foods and everything sounds edible.
I'm just shocked that they landed on that TV show because there are WAY better burger joints and pubs around town-- and they haven't landed on TV! Could it be a case of nepotism? After all, that Guy fellow (from the show) is from around these here parts, you know?
The burger was small and didn't have the charbroiled flavor I expected; worst of all, the beef was fatty and low quality. I was quite disappointed but I wouldn't rule out going there for a beer on rare occasion. I may try the hot wings next time...if there's a next time.
Cute little local pub with nice patio seating and decent indoor seating. Took a seat and the bar mistress quickly came by with menus. Great variety for a pub and decent specials.
C ordered a bucket of wings, A ordered mozzerella sticks and I got a chili cheese burger, hold the onions.
The cheese sticks were greally good and seasoned well. The wings were quite spicy and I gobbled up 3. The chili cheese burger was great and the fries were only OK, I like thicker cut fries and these were quite thin.
The juke box pumped out nice music until someone started playing nothing but Van Halen (1 or 2 are great, but after that, variety, please) and the fresh flowers on each table were a really nice touch.
I would love to return!
You need to hit this joint up if you're ever near the Russian River. After a day of kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking -- whatever it is you're doing - this is the place to talk it up with the locals and watch some baseball.
The bartender was workin' the jukebox and playin' old school songs like, "Just the Two of Us" (I thought Will Smith made that song up!?) as I sipped on my cold Cider Ale and dug into my juicy sorloin steak burger and dunked my super curly fries into some mayonnaise (it's delicious, you know it). Locals chatted it up around the bar. One of the cooks came out to greet his friends. Out of towners showed off their pool skills.
A Sierra, Cider Ale and two sorloin steak burgers - less than $33.
I'm glad I wore my wifebeater and torn jeans that day - this was definitely the place to do it.
Some of the locs in Guerneville can be a bit surly. You know the kind... mountain men with long hair and gnarled yellow teeth, big dogs and bigger guns? How the gays were able to take over the Russian River, I'll never know.
Anyway, locs congregate like flies to the honey at the Russian River Pub on a cold and rainy day. From the look of all of the initials and hearts carved into its log cabin walls, this place has long been a fave for the townies. Wendy happily sashays around, taking orders and slinging ice cold beers with a smile.
Some of the best pub grub around town is made in their kitchen. Their Famous Wings were spicy deliciousness (as featured on the Food Network), the Famous Pub Burger was juicy and overflowing with veggies and cheese and daaaamn, they make a good curly fry. Why no Famous Curly Fry? I like my fries to be famous.
So, settle yerself in, have some home grown brews, carve yer initials into the wall, shoot some stick and see what happens! If you end up brawling with the locs over the 8 ball you can just chalk it up to experience.
Good pub food.
We had the spicy wings. Â They were actually spicy! Â So many places don't know how to make spicy things that are spicy. Â But these were good. Â They were tasty, and not too spicy.
Son and I had the spicy burger, with pepperjack cheese and jalapenos. Â It was good, but a few too many jalapenos for me. Â Not that it was overly spicy, because it wasn't, but the jalapenos detracted from the taste and texture of the burger. Â Can't remember what the wife had, but she enjoyed it.
The onion rings were ok, and the fries were pretty good.
Service was good. Â Very friendly. Â The music coming from the jukebox was very good, too.
I'm not a huge wings guy but after reading about the wings at Russian River Pub I knew that I had to give them a shot. Not only were they some of the best wings I've had but they were so good that we brought a group of friends to try them the next evening.
Beer was ice cold, our bartender couldn't be sweeter (especially when she topped off my friend's margaritas after their first couple of sips) and the food a notch above your typical pub fare. Definitely try the wings and the pork ribs!
What can I say, I love eating outdoors when it is freezing in the city yet 75 up at the river. Â Its a mini-vacation only an hour or so from home. Â Anyway, we are members of a couple of wineries up around here so the last few times we have stopped by for grub. Â Also since our dog can sit with us on the patio and harass the other patrons with sad dog eyes and whines for food, which embarrasses the gf but I find amusing.
Anyway, both times we both ordered the same thing:
Me: a Famous Pub Burger. Â It is big and really really tasty and the side of fries is always a huge portion and season salted nicely.
GF: the spicy BBQ burger which has pepper jack and jalepenos on it. Â The gf is also a big fan onion rings and luckily the pub has some of the best I have ever eaten. Â They are light and crunchy and for some reason when you bite in the onion doesn't slip out of the breading. Â I don't know what they do, but they do the rings well.
The gf is also a mozzarella stick connoisseur. Â I bet she would like the engagement ring better if it were deep fried. Â Anyway, the moz sticks are really amazing too. Â They seriously have to be home-made. Â The breading is excellent and cheese all melty...even I could crave those.
The waitress is really nice and works her ass off. Â There were some chicks camping in the area eating lunch here and were fighting over the bill one even complained about the avocado on her sandwich costing a buck. Â The waitress was like "it says it cost a buck on the menu but, whatever take the buck off" she was not pissy or snooty in anyway. Â She probably seriously could give a fuck. Â We had to roll our eyes...goddamn hippies go eat your granola and walk someone else's Earth. Â This all after the waitress told them about some Native American festival they may be interested in at the junior college...
The other patrons are mostly locals,  tattooed artsy women and  bikers but even though I had a sloppy yuppie weekend exterior of city folk up at the river, we never get a sideways glance.
Anyway, I know we will be back at least 4-5 times a year. Â We both look forward to it too!
