Went at an off hour so I wasn't hungry enough for any of the meals although they looked delicious, if not expensive.
Had the Thousand Island Pale Ale which was delicious, just slightly hoppy and not very bitter. It's a perfect traditional IPA. I also had a few sips of the 1812 which was light and fruity, but I think I like the IPA better.
Also enjoyed the Cajun Tots which weren't spicy at all, and the salad which was delicious.
I wasn't super impressed by the food, probably could have tried more of the beers and enjoyed that. Pretty expensive for nothing mind blowing though.
I had a filet mignon which was overcooked, but that may have been my fault since I asked for it medium...probably not my fault, but maybe. Â Ambiance is very good, and the beer is decent. Â Don't get me wrong, given the choice between Sackets Harbor 1812 Amber and a mass market brew, I'd get the 1812, but in the world of ambers it was just ok. Â At the time, I don't think an IPA was available. Â I would definately go here again to give it a second shot, but for beer there is a bar just down the road a bit with a better beer selection in my opinion.
Review Source:During my last visit to the area, this was the only place open and serving any type of food past 11pm that I could find on the Main Street strip. It was only fryer food at that hour but I was still grateful. The portion of chicken fingers and fries was plentiful and the beer (they brew their own) was very enjoyable, although I'm afraid I forgot the name of the one I tried.
But the main reason for writing this review is for the bartender, Lindsay, who even at that late hour, was incredibly personable and provided great service. She let me eat in, rather than take out, checked to see how everything was, AND even remembered what dipping sauce I wanted when I came back the next night. Five stars for her!
A cute place for a waterside dinner! Because it was raining, we were seated indoors. The decor in the dining room was a little dated and looked as if it could use some updating; I raised an eyebrow at the plain white table linens. It was also noisier than I would have liked. One or two big groups in the same room were pretty rowdy, making it difficult for couples such as ourselves to have much meaningful conversation.
As for the food itself, I myself am not much of a beer person, but the fiance seemed to appreciate the 1812 ale he ordered. For food, we got the Seafood & Chili Alfredo, which was excellent and full of seafood pieces. I expected it to have a little more spice. We also got a chicken entree (I can't recall the title) that was dressed in herb butter and came with potatoes and vegetables. This dish was a little underwhelming; they made it sound fantastic on the menu, but taste-wise it was a very standard entree. Nothing very remarkable.
Judging from the other reviews, I think the bar would turn out a more satisfactory experience. Next time I think I'll come for beer and bar food.
Definitely did not expect this for lunch! They have a small side terrace - not the main terrace - where they allowed our dog. Brought out water and all! Step up from pub food in all, salads were great (both the brie-fruits & the steak caprese). Pulled pork sandwich was awesome according to y daughter. Great fries and as it is a brewing company the independence wheat beer was great. Really nice service, all of them super friendly. Great experience for the whole family and excellent value
Review Source:3.5 stars, had a good meal but wasn't wowed by anything. One problem I have is that depending on where you sit there are two different menus even though it's coming from the same kitchen. If you're in the dining area you can't order from the pub menu and vice versa. This is frustrating because you may want an app from one menu and a entree from the other. We sat in the pub, the cajun kegs are literally just tater tots with dipping sauce. French onion soup solid. The fillet mignon salad was good, the rocket wrap was good nice size, and the fish and chips were very good and again big portion. The 1812 Ale is a great beer, unfortunately their bottling plant closed so don't bother trying to buy any to go. Probably will go back again but definitely not in any hurry.
Review Source:Great spot to stop in for a delicious 1812 pale ale in the wainscoted bar, a lunch on the patio overlooking the harbor, or a meal in the airy dining room. We brought two tots and they were very happy with the grilled cheese and the fish and chips. We had the Cajun tater tots to start - delicious. Â I shared the Harbor beast which and the brie and berry salad with a friend. The beasty was an incredible take on a traditional French dip. The berry salad was a little sweet for me. Another friend had the burger and raved about it. Our service was prompt if not 100% accurate.
Review Source:The pickles always say a lot about a meal. They are usually an afterthought, soggy, and tasteless. Not so at Sackets Harbor Brew pub and this is where the delight begins. I am the pickiest restaurant goer. I was in town for 4 or 5 days and ate here more than a couple of times. (I had to make myself try other places because I knew I could just eat here the whole time and be happy). I had the Adirondack cheeseburger with their "dirty sauce" and it is out of this world. I had the sea bass. Heavenly. So delicious. My husband had the ribs. He was going mm mmm mmm all over the place, each bite. The Harbor Beast sandwich is out of this world. Perfect lunch. The best thing on the menu that really I would pay triple for is the duck nachos. I don't want to spoil the surprise but this is truly imaginative cooking and so so so sosoooo delicious. Everything is good. Now lets talk about the beer. I don't like stout. I don't like Guinness which is synonymous with stout. THEIR stout which Saint Stephens is insanely delicious. It tastes like a slightly fizzy ice coffee with some chocolate undertones. It's light and has less alcohol and fewer calories than all other beers. All the beers are great though. Every damn one. It's nuts. This restaurant is like some kind of secret. I would definitely go back as soon as I get back up to Sackets Harbor. (we even bought 3 of their growlers to bring back to Brooklyn with us).
Review Source:I should probably write two separate reviews.
The Bar: Â Great service, delicious local brews and a fun and interesting crowd! Â Do try it!
The Restaurant: Stay away! I Â ordered their soup and entree special (rib-eye with garlic mashed potatoes). Â Soup arrived- and was cold. Well not cold, but not soup temperature. Â Not sure if the waiter lost his way from the kitchen or it just wasn't hot. Â I sent it back. I figured one mistake is OK. Well, the entree came- potatoes and rib eye (not a cheap entree either) were also cold. Â Either the kitchen is located in Watertown 8 miles away or the kitchen is incompetent or the server was distracted. Â Alternatvely, the server did seem to be very inefficient. Â He went back inside (we were on the deck) and returned with another party's check, then turned and went back in. Â Maybe he needs training- make your trips and movement multi-purposed and more efficient.
Management offered to contact us and make up for the unpleasant meal (constant companion's meal was also luke warm at best  and I'm being generous). We'll see if they follow through with any contact.
All in all- great bar, lousy food.
Our experience was not good today. We have visited restaurant a few times before and we always have had great food and great service.
Today was not the case sadly.
I ordered nachos with steak and I was half way done with them when I came across a hair. It took a while for our waitress, Katiee, to come back and check in on us. I showed her my chip with the hair. She said " oh, I'm really sorry about that, but all of our cooks have short hair" and then she walked away! She went to the next table. I was like.."What??" Was she going to come back?
Well obviously I couldn't finish my plate. She never came back to me and offered me a different dish, refund, etc.
Again, very long wait untill she checked on us and by ths time, I actually had to go inside of the restaurant to let the hostess know that we were ready for our bill. She saw me and said she was on her way...
When she came to the table to give us our bill, I asked her if she was going to take off the nachos? Here's the shocking reply..
"well actually, I must say that that is the chance you take when dining outside" I replied, "what? how can that be?" She replys, " yes it could be possible that a hair flew on to your plate. I mean, was it a nacho on the top layer or was it underneath?"
I said, "I don't know??!"
She said " well like I said before, all of our cooks have short hair and they wear hair nets.."
She said that she would look into it for us. My husband paid the bill and he was nice enough to tip her because the other meals were fine. She never mentioned anything again about it. The nachos had not been taken off. Did she even ask her manager?? I wasn't there of course when the bill came, as I had taken our child to the restroom.
Very disappounting for a nice restaurant like this. Even Mcdonalds would have immidiately refunded your meal without hesitation.
I would have apologized sincerly and would have offered the customer any other choice on the menu.
This Sackets Harbor restaurant & bar is a must-do for all visiting the area.
A bit more pricey than hoped for upon entering the establishment, this
local business earns the prices in the quality of their products served.
This is a local's hangout. You'll get the 'everyone-knows-everyone' feeling.
The restaurant's indoor & outdoor seating overlooks the harbor entrance.
The bar is equipped with flat-screen TVs; all tuned to sports channels.
This is a micro-brewery. Expect to find no domestic or imported beer.
The Amber 1812 beer and the Raspberry Wheat beer are very nice beers.
An assortment of liquors for mixed drinks are also available at the bar.
***I'm not going to spoil the surprise here, but if you are into adventures,
I suggest you visit this location shortly after 5pm on Wednesdays for a very
unique treat :) If you take your sweet time arriving, expect nothing ~ 7pm...
I am not saying what the entrees are... I had two priced at $12.99 each...
The food is great! I visit this business each & every Wednesday night!
An excellent brewpub.  The fried seafood appetizer was very good.  The adirondack burger was done perfectly and was so good we didn't feel the need to add ketchup.  The raspberry layered white  cake with raspberry buttercream was perfectly balanced between sweet and tartness.  The St Stephens Stout beer was excellent, too.  Highly recommend this brewpub.
Review Source:First tried it a few weeks ago. The seafood basket was delicious. The service, not so much. There was a chunk of cigarette ash on our plate. Got a new plate so ok. But was slow in coming over to refill our water & our beers, especially after we've been waiting about 15 mins.
Second time I tried calling to order the seafood basket ahead of time at 2:00pm & was told it was part of the dinner menu which didn't start until 5pm. By the time 5pm roll around, when my friend & I visited the restaurant, we were told that it wasn't available for dinner. So headed over to the boathouse instead. The mussels there more than made up for missing out on the seafood basket. They need to up their customer service before I'll be back.
Update: tried calling at 9:00 at night a few weeks later to order the seafood basket to go & had no problem getting it. The oysters were delicious, but the calamari were dried like hard chewy rubber bands. Scallops & crawfish tails tasted like they were redipped & refried from earlier in the day. I think I'm done with SHBC.
I love breweries therefore when I got word there was one in a 10 mile range I automatically booked my Saturday to drink beers at this place. I'm in Watertown, NY on business so my weekend was free as a bird and I enjoy good local beer,
I enjoyed the scenery of Sackets Harbor while drinking my 1812 and being able to see Lake Ontario was a perfect combination. I enjoyed the few beers i tried and samples and walked out of there with a Sackets Harbor Brew Co shirt as a souvenir.
GO BEER
We just had dinner here. Very expensive for small portions. Everything is alacarte.
But the sea bass was fantastic it was carmalized with spinach- $27 -nice chunk of fish-service good/we also had the stuffed chicken-it was small & hardly any mozzarella inside but taboli was great that it was served with.$21-So that was all you got a small plate of good food- no salad- came with hot bread which was good and whole grain- We just finished & still hungry! So bring your wallet- the location is right on the water which probably costs them a pretty penny-not only that better ingredients do cost more- you can tell it is healthy and some organic-the service was great!
This place is awesome!  I love the burgers but they also have some excellent entrée specials.  The chocolate peanut butter pie is amazing, I highly suggest it.  The beer is really good but I wish they had an IPA. The wait staff is decent but I don't really remember anything amazing about them.  Altogether it's a great place, get out of Watertown and try this place!
Review Source:This brewery is amazing! It is located in the peaceful town of Sacket's harbour, and is right on the lake! The beers are delicious, and they only serve their own, which I really like. Try the 1812 Amber, you can also buy it in all the stores in town. There is a family friendly restaurant, (with spectacular lake views), as well as a bar area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, or looking for somewhere cool outside of watertown!
Tip:
Daily happy hour 5-7 $2 pints and well drinks!
Thursday offers $2 drinks all night, along with great trivia. (also $8 beer and burger night).
Usually have an excellent selection of brews on tap with the seasonal offerings being better than the standards (although the standards are good). The food is above average for a brew pub with the Drunken Sow and the Duck Nachos being extra good. Be aware that they always seem to be out of one or two menu items, so you'll want to have back up picks made.
Review Source:I wish I could say that I loved my recent experience at this restaurant. I have a lot of sentimental feelings towards it and experienced a lot of REALLY fun times in my younger years. However, I can only say that I left, after dinner, feeling seriously depressed, frustrated, and sad over what has happened to this place. First off, it's a nice location, on the water, but it seems that they have given up on their outdoor areas...weeds growing everywhere, defunct outdoor bar, cobwebs, duck poop, etc. The prices just don't reflect the atmosphere. Cobwebs all over the table, no table clothes, but $15 for a Caesar salad? I am a vegetarian, but wanted a salad without meat....there are very few veggie options, but, no biggie, I can adjust! I asked if I could get a Caesar salad WITHOUT meat. My waitress, who was not that friendly, said no problem, but my meal came with meat (after a super long wait, which seemed odd for how "unbusy" they were). When I brought this up to her nicely (at the end of dinner, because she did not check on us for 30 minutes... until we were done eating and never asked how things were), she argued with me about it. She did end up taking the salad off the bill, but not without giving me a death stare first. The bottom line is, good beer, good wine, mediocre service (but with a pretentious attitude), and a horrible atmosphere. I'm so sad that this place has gone downhill. Go to Tin Pan instead!!
Review Source:I've been here a number of times. Â Family live near by in cottages on the lake. Â This is always a favorite spot of mine at any time of the year. Â The beer that's made brewed here is surprisingly very good. Â I happen to lean towards the old standard, 1812. Â That's a bit hoppy but not an IPA style. Â It's a good drinking beer. Â The meals are very good as well. Â I don't believe I've had any meal, lunch or dinner that I objected to. Â They've been around now for some time and I doubt if they'll be leaving Sackets any time soon. Â It's a good bet, stop by. Â You'll be pleased too.
Review Source:Had dinner there on a business trip and will try to go back when in the area. Â The homebrew was really good. Â The setting is really nice (old fashioned bar, nice restaurant room with a view of the harbor, or outside seating on the water, the choice is yours).
Service was attentionate without being overwhelming and the food was well executed and well presented, the only downside, just a bit bland.
The choices are mainly seafood and steak dishes. Â I had the scallops special that came with asparagus and polenta with a tomato sauce. Â It was well balanced but lacked a kick. Â For appetizer we shared duck nachos. Â It was an interesting blend of flavors: tortilla chips, duck, goat cheese...really nice.
Nice place, good food, good beer, beautiful setting.
Food and beer was very good, but the service was pretty poor. The wait was long even though they were not very busy, and they brought out half of our party's meals and we waited a good 5 minutes for the other half of our meals to arrive. Â Disappointing service. Â This could have been a 4 or 5 star review if not for that aspect...
