Another year and another trip to the Sagebrush for our pre-rally dinner. Â 20 of us invaded the poor little place and the understaffed restaurant worked it's collective posterior off to accommodate us. Â So even if the service had been crap, which is most certainly was not, I wouldn't have knocked a star off.
Good wine, stiff drinks and some pretty good food were to be had. Â I had the chicken fried steak and it was so amazing and tender that I did not need a knife! Â Veggies were cooked to perfection and the sausage gravy was good enough to bring a tear to my eye. Â
I cannot wait for next year to return to this ultra-cool little town and not just for the Sagebrush.
This establishment provided the worst dining experience of my life. I'd brought some friends in to town (my hometown... where I was born and raised) for the day, and, because I'd previously enjoyed the food, decided to drop in. What followed was an embarrassing debacle.
The waitress, who barely had a voice, personality or pulse, basically dropped the menus off at our table and left. Once our food arrived (nearly an hour later), a member of our party asked for more salad dressing. The second request involved me physically getting up and tracking down a waitress--it came about 10 minutes later, with the first request following about five minutes after that. I think we could have walked away from the table without paying--that's how important we were to the staff of about three who took turns dropping things off randomly at our table.
I can understand slow service if a restaurant is busy, but this wasn't the case. We collectively decided that it was the worst service we'd ever been given... anywhere--EVER. It was so bad that I can't even tell you how the food was. I'm not even sure there was a tip left on the nearly $100 dinner. I doubt they cared. Â We wished we'd have gone to Donna's Drive Inn.
