Great dive bar. Love the name (which is a play on the ritzy Salishan lodge located up the street).
Cheap beer and finding shuffleboard out here was a big plus. Not much for food options, so just plan on coming to drink. They use an old walk-in beer fridge that displays all the bottles towards the bar to see.
Talked with some locals and they say things liven up when the fishermen come in for a drink. I then imagined the bar scene from the perfect storm.
Yes, they have Pabst on tap.
Salishack Baby Yeahhhhhh! Â Tin Roof Rusted!
Salishak sits on the right side of the road as you head south on Gleneden Loop, which parallels hwy 101. Â there were several cars and trucks parked out front at 3:30 this afternoon. Â I thought there must be a good party goin' on inside so I parked my car. Â As I walked toward the front door the stale smell of smoke from yesteryear was highly evident. Â As I stepped in, I could imagine that there must have been clouds of smoke to cut through to get to the bar before the ban on smoking went into effect. Â I don't mean that in a bad way but this place just had that feel to it.
Several regulars were chatting it up at the "L" shaped bar drinking cheap domestic beer. Â I sidled on in, pulled up a bar stool and ordered a mirror pond (gasp!). Â I could tell all the people wanted to ask what horse I rode in on, why was I drinking a beer I couldn't see through and what the heck brought me through the door! Â They were either too polite or too drunk to ask. Â I soon found out that it was the former. Â It was a very friendly group of regulars and I was chatting it up in no time about the weather, unemployment issue at the coast and the fact that NOAA was going to bring some good into the area ($$$).
There is a pool table, a shuffle board table and probably the biggest big screen tv on the central coast! Â A nice patio out back and signs all over the walls that cause one (me at least!) to chuckle with amusement. Â The owner is a very friendly woman named Patty who bought the place while she was in town taking care of her dying mom.
This is a dive bar to the greatest extreme and I mean that in an oh-so-positive, I-can't-wait-to-get-back sort of way! Â I am a sucker for a dive bar, especially on just about any coast. Â I will return, possibly even this week!
And there really isn't a tin roof, rusted or otherwise!
Cheers!
