Let me start out saying the food was really good, there were only a couple of issues with the food that could have been the waitress' fault or the kitchens. Â 1. Â The appetizer, although ordered well before meal, arrived only minutes before we were served our dinner. Â 2. Â Order my dinner with mashed potatoes but was served rice. Â 3. Â House seasoned tuna steak had no seasoning on it. Â Although these could have been mistakes by the kitchen ultimately it is the waiter's responsibility to make sure an order is correct.
Now as for the service, OOOOOHHHHHHH WAITER?!?!? Â Had to ask 4 different times to get a refill on one glass of tea. Â Had to ask 2 different times for bread with our meal. Â Watched as she started to server our meal to the wrong table and when that table said it wasn't theirs she still didn't know whose food it was until we gestured to her. Â Once we got the check she disappeared, took over 10 minutes just to get the credit card to her.
I will not post who the waitress was, she knows who she is... just remember the tip and message written on the credit card slip. Â When I sit down I start the tip at 18% and it lowers from there... it takes a lot for me to do that. Â One or two issues are fine and can be forgiven, but when the waitress ends your evening with "I'm sorry about everything"... maybe, JUST maybe things need to be reviewed.
Disappointed with both the food and the service. Â I had the Tuna Ponzu and was surprised by the overall lack of flavor - not a well-conceived dish. Â The She-Crab soup was just okay.
The service - impersonal and a general lack of attention. Â Entree came out 3 minutes after receiving soup. Â
Best thing about this restaurant - view/location
This place would have gotten a four star but (although I liked my fish), my fish dish wasn't the best. I will say that the She Crab soup was EXCELLENT. The other reason why I give them a three star is because they didn't have any deserts that I liked (so we skipped it). The rest of the group was probably full but I personally didn't hear of anything that I liked. Lastly, one thing that I didn't like about the service was that our waitress forgot a salad...She left it on the counter for about a good 15 min. When she was told that a salad was missing, she brought it to the table and played it off as if it wasn't a big deal. I did not like that at all.
Will I go back to this place?? Yes!! You ask why...because the soup was great, the shrimp and grits (that my sister had) was so good. I did fail to mention that the green beans were really good as well.
Soooo....I do know that they are capable of producing great food (and I'm sure great customer service as well). I'll just have to go back, order something else and enjoy the experience!
My plans are to keep you posted!

If you love a great view, friendly staff, and top quality food then you will enjoy the Saltwater Grill in Swansboro, NC. My aunt and uncle took my finance and I there for lunch during our vacation. I ordered a large bowl of the she-crab soup and the crab cake sliders. I never would have imagined that my bowl of soup would be so large! Not only was it delicious at that time, but with the amount served, it lasted me two more meals and was still delicious! The crab cake sliders had a coleslaw on top that really make the dish unique and delectable. The staff, including owner, made sure our table was satisfied and well hydrated.
As you are enjoying your meal, you can take in the sights and sounds of the Brogue Sound that surround the restaurant. It's a very relaxing atmosphere.
Months ago I wrote a honest negative review and was contacted by the owner, Mike Egan. Â I stopped by to speak with Mike to tell him in person the problems that had occurred. Â I was invited back and did so on Friday. Â Four of us had lunch. This time the food was the correct temperature and cooked to order. Â We enjoyed a lovely afternoon on the porch. We asked to speak to Mike but he was not working until later. Â We'll be back - thanks Mike for listening and improving the quality of the food - I heard that you had hired a new chef. Â Good luck with the restaurant!
Review Source:I came here for lunch on a recent Saturday after walking past all the restaurants in historic Swansboro and picking this one judging by the menu. The view from all the tables is beautiful over the water, the staff was extremely helpful and accomodated changes to the meals without a problem and at no extra charge.
Everyone in our party enjoyed their food (fried flounder, a non-seafood sandwich) though I think I got the winning ticket: I ordered a large bowl of she-crab soup, after being told it would be enough food for an entree. How right they were! The soup is incredibly rich, and although I was starved I sadly had to leave a good amount of it when I was full. Best crab soup I have ever eaten, and at 8 dollars a surreally good deal.
This is a 'nice' restaurant that is good for casual lunches and elegant dinners alike and which at lunch has VERY reasonable prices for high quality food. Drink prices are rather on the high end though. I thoroughly enjoyed that this place departed from the simple fried seafood (which it has too - all fried items on the menu will be prepared broiled on request, even though the menu doesn't say so), and the place doesn't have a greasy smell in the air. I would definitely come back.
