This restaurant has great ambiance but sadly it does not measure up to the five-star status of the Tamaya Hyatt Resort of which it is one of the Resort's two major restaurants.  My wife and I and our Morgan Stanley broker from Albuquerque had lunch here recently.  My wife was looking forward to ordering the great salad (including figs and goat cheese) which she had had on a previous lunch at Santa Ana Cafe.   A new menu made short shrift of salads.  I wanted a chicken breast sandwich and thought that I was getting one with a chicken and avocado sandwich, which turned out to consist of shaved chicken breast with avocado spread instead of sliced avocado served without fries for $12.  Someone pointed out that I had missed the word "shaved" on the menu.  This sandwich was worthy of Subway but not of Tamaya.  How could I get a chicken breast sandwich?  According to my waiter I could order from a build-your-own-burger card which was handed out with the menu.  But there was no writing on the card which said that you could substitute a chicken breast for a burger.  Another server told me that you have to make a request for chicken in lieu of beef.  Give me a break!  Why should it be so hard to get a full chicken breast in a time of great heath consciousness at a Hyatt major resort?   I would recommend the Sandia Casino and Resort;s Council Room, which has a great chicken-breast sandwich with fries or baked potato for $10.  Even the unpretentious Range Cafe in downtown Bernalillio has a chicken breast and sliced avocado and bacon sandwich with fries for $10.  The management of this place, the Hyatt Santa Ana Cafe, should be ashamed of itself.

We booked a table for Mother's Day for dinner. When we arrived they told us they were behind in the kitchen and would have to sit at our table and wait 45 minutes before we would be served! So we we left and certainly will never return! This is a four star hotel and resort! This is unacceptable!

I stayed at the Hyatt Tamaya from July 1- July 5, 2012 and ate an assortment of meals here.  The breakfast buffet is nothing short of wonderful.  The vegetarian dishes, while a bit limited, were nothing short of delicious.  The veggie burger is highly recommended.  The service was excellent.

    I look forward to returning.

This review is for the regular weekend brunch buffet (i.e. not a special holiday one). For $16pp (fresh squeeze OJ is an additional $4) this buffet is a really great deal. They have a chef there to make you waffles and fresh egg dishes. There is an interesting selection of hot traditional breakfast items enhanced with New Mexican flair. The breakfast pastries were pretty good and a notch above those found at most nicer buffets. I am a big fan of buffets that serve smoked salmon and all the proper accoutrements were present. Even though I went to this place in the middle of winter, even the fresh fruits were sweet and lovely.

This is not a huge Las Vegas style buffet, it is small, intimate and the food is very fresh. For locals looking for a weekend treat or somewhere to get together with some friends, this is a great option. Even for those who aren't fans of buffet, a traditional breakfast menu is also served.

Had lunch here today.  There are two things to recommend this place: Very nice outdoor seating with nice views (albeit not of the mountain) overlooking the courtyard, traditional pueblo ovens, and kiva pool, and good food.  Actually, my thoughts on the food are a little mixed (see below).

I started with the Chicken & Mushroom Enchiladas, the best I've had here in New Mexico.  It was beautifully plated, piled high on the plate.  Kind of hard to tell, but I think there were three corn tortillas filled with mushrooms and chicken, served on a bed of rice with black beans, roasted corn, chopped bell peppers, a drizzle of flavored cream, and green chili (you could also get red or Christmas).  Plenty of food, great quality, and well executed.  Also came with three different rolls, all good, and two rounds of ice cold butter!  Mmmmm!

Dessert was more disappointing.  I ordered the filled donuts.  I don't recall they name on the menu, but they were basically three filled donut holes.  One filled with pastry cream, one with jam, and one chocolate.  The fillings were a little more complex than that according to the menu, but I couldn't taste it.  The biggest problem I had though was that they were not cooked to order.  They were obviously made earlier.  Maybe not even today.  In fact, they were a little cold.  Disappointing.

Their signature dessert is some kind of peanut butter pie.  I'll try that next time.

Located in the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa, The Santa Ana Cafe is the most casual dining option.  They have a nice breakfast buffet, as well as great menu items.  The decor is South West casual and the service is friendly.  The prices are higher than the local restaurants, but on the reasonable end of hotel dining.  There's a nice view and they welcome families and large groups.  Sunday has an expanded buffet and made-to-order omelets.
