I had the opportunity to check out Sarah Street Grill this past Saturday, 6/22! My duet group, "Stilettos-n-Steel" were the musical guests that night.
This place is a gem! First off, the food is great. I had a California Roll and then a delicious portobello wrap with beer battered fries! Next, the staff were just awesome, truly kind and attentive to our needs. Lastly, the whole environment is truly music friendly, with a great sound guy and system.
Anyway, check this place out! Well worth the experience!
Love & Light,
Jen

Steak was the worst. Thin overcooked and grissly. Sushi was ok but not close to being the best as mentioned. Far from
It. If you want the best, go to Ichiban up the road on route 611 for way better sushi. As for the drinks, too much ice! Bearly 3 swallows and finished. Will not be back. Cover charge to eat dinner too? Really? The owner seems hard up for the buck!
My wife and I have come to Sarah Street numerous times and our first couple visits were absolutely terrific, but our last few times there both the service and the food have been on a steady decline. Got to love when your server informs you that they are out of what you ordered as they are bringing out your wife's dinner. We won't be back anytime soon.
Review Source:We came by here again yesterday and had a better experience than we did the last time around. Â
We may have got them at a bad time when we were in last, since they were just opening up after being closed down for several days because of Hurricane Sandy. Â
In any event, our bartender was the same, and there were others working the bar, as well. Â The service was very good.
Their set-up for NFL games is good, and we were able to get a spot where we could watch our team play. Â We got there just after 1:00, and the place was pretty close to filled up, so it's a good idea to get in a little early if you're looking to sit near a particular TV. Â
If we had a place like this near Scranton/Clarks Summit, I'd come fairly regularly to check out the live music and for the NFL Ticket.
This is my favorite place to eat in the Poconos. Â Their veggie burger was the best I have ever eaten, and everyone else in my party enjoyed their food completely! Â They have great music, and friendly staff. Â My MIL said the Dulce de Leche cheesecake was the best she had ever eaten. Â I would highly recommend anyone to eat here if they have the chance.
Review Source:Great burgers - especially the roll. The fries are six stars, if that's possible. Very nice selection on tap and also in bottles, even some specialty beers. Big fan of the pickle and pepper bucket that comes out before the meal. I would warn you, don't order anything without confirming the price. That, and they could use a few more big screen/HD TV's for a bar that promises to show all games. Definitely one of, if not the best moderately priced restaurant in Stroudsburg or East Stroudsburg.
Review Source:I moved to the area over a year ago and I'm so disappointed that I haven't tried this place out sooner. Â Finally went here for dinner, and oh my goodness, the chicken saltimbocca was to die for! Â I thought about for the next two days. Â The service was excellent. Â Our waiter was beyond friendly and had us laughing every time he came by. Â I can't wait to go and try more entrees. Â I hear the burgers are delicious as well.
Review Source:I really like this place and often drive the 40 minutes to get here.
I was seriously surprised at how good their sushi is and my father-in-law says the wings are the best in the state.
It's still a sports bars with lots of televisions but they will out on your game, serve you promptly and bring you some pretty decent food and at a decent price. Â Enjoy!
There were two other people at the bar when I arrived and I still had to wait five minutes for the bartender to recognize me (after a few episodes of clearing my throat). Â She was too busy talking to the other people at the bar. Â I left and will make sure to never go back! Â What a HORRID restaurant!
Review Source:I was here for a group meeting with about 60 and they did a great job. Â The food was well done and the appetizers were good. Â They had goods service and really tried to take care of our group.
I have also been there for lunch before and the food has always been good and consistent. Â I have heard they have really good sushi but have not yet had the opportunity to try it.
We stopped by this place for the first time today. It was enjoyable and the food was good. They start you off with a bowl of homemade pickles, which was a nice and different touch. Lots of different mixed drinks to choose from. A lot of different coffees. The service, server and hostess were all great. Â It seems as though there is something for everyone here. We'll go back again when we are in the area.
Review Source:I went there a during the week before Labor Day with my boyfriend and we each ordered two burgers. Â He ordered his Med-well, mine rare. I requested a baked potato instead of french fries. When our food arrived, my boyfriend got the rare burger, and I got the med-well burger. Â A big disappointment, being in the restaurant business myself, I said something to my server. Â He replied: Well, we've been very busy. Â For the $9.75 I paid for the burger, I should've refused to eat it- not the way I ordered it, and on top, got charged an extra $1.00 to substitute a baked potato instead of fries. Â For the amount of money, Â I should have gotten exactly what I ordered.
Review Source:I've been going here since it opened. I've never been disappointed. Â They do a great dinner and their lunch and bar options are fantastic. Â I've brought many out of town guests and they've never been disappointed. Â I would say that it's our go to lunch place when we're in town. Â They also have a great bar scene as well as live music.
Review Source:Definitely a good place to go out and eat, though it's a little pricey for the Poconos. The spinach and artichoke dip is amazing and the service is generally pretty good.
The upstairs patio is nice in the summer and it's the best place in the area to watch football by far.
Basically if you're in town and looking to avoid the scrum that Main Street has become on weekends (not that it isn't fun sometimes, especially Floods), this is a chiller option for a few drinks. Plus, it's locally-owned which I'd rather support than the glut of chains up in Bartonsville that everyone seems to love.
So someone actually rated this place based on the sushi??? If you had high hopes for sushi here, please get your head examined.
Food is really good and the times I've been here the service was okay to me. Taps were clean and I liked the outside smoking patio. Plenty of place to sit from what I can tell.
Service doesn't get any better when you sit there and don't say anything. Speak up and maybe your experience would be better... I recommend this place, and although I never ordered it, I'd probably stay away from the sushi.
This place is a staple to the Stroudsburg area. A nice place to go when you want to get out for the night and have a decent meal. I've been here several times. Although I was reluctant to try sushi in a bar/pub atmosphere, I could not help myself. It is actually pretty good! Sarah St also has some great local bands.
Review Source:Sarah Street is a pretty good bar and an alright restaurant. Â They have a pretty extensive (second largest in town) beer selection and the food is okay, albeit a little over price.
It is pretty much the only place to get decent original music in downtown Stroudsburg on a regular basis. Â There isn't that much variety to the types of music (most of them are "artsy" acoustic bands which all sound the same), but once a month or so something comes across the stage that breaks away from the pack.
Half of the staff are awesome and the other half do their job.
WE LOVE SARAH STREET! We travel to Stroudsburg twice a year for business and we always go to Sarah Street! Because they serve a GREAT selection of pub food and sushi, everyone is happy. They also have dinners like lasagna or fish. The price is average, the service is great! They have live music and other events, so check their calandar.
Review Source:Was in the area for a quick 3 day vacation and found this place online. Â A little hard to find because it's on a one way street but once we got in it was a nice place. Â The downstairs is a pretty normal bar setting that plays live acts. Â Seemed nice enough but I dined upstairs where it was a little more quiet. Â I had sushi my girlfriend had a steak. Â Both were very good. Â Service was attentive. Â There were 4 large LCD tv's in the corners of the room that play videos of various artists. Â I liked their whole set up. Â If and when I'm back in this area we'll visit again.
Review Source:Meal started off well enough - plate of pickle chunks and some beer. Had whole family there - 5 of us. Ate upstairs cause we didn't want to be right on top of the music.
We ordered burgers, which were requested medium but came back well+. Waitress disappeared for long lengths of time, and when she did come by, she only retained one request at a time.
Everyone was well intentioned, but it was a very mediocre joint.
Live music was much better than expected! Kind of a bluesy jam thing.
I love this place. Â We have only been there for lunch but each time I am delightfully surprised. Â Great menu with lots of options. Â The last visit, I had the reuben and it was delicious. Â The atmosphere is relaxing. Â I especially like the classic rock music videos they play on the tvs.
Review Source:I've had better sushi at a grocery store. Â Also, they charge you like 5 bucks extra for edamame and 3 bucks extra for miso soup (most sushi places offer both for free as part of the meal), the stingy jerks. Â My wife and I spent 45 bucks here, and I was still really hungry afterwards. Â Also, service was very slow, and I'm not one to be picky about service being slow. Â Not recommended.
Review Source:Had a good time eating there for my sisters rehearsal dinner. Â The food is good and the staff is nice and helpful. Â We had some delicious chicken marsala, grilled veggies, and vodka penne, among other things. Â Desert was a brownie topped with ice cream and hot fudge. Â After the dinner was done we went downstair to the bar and proceeded to party. Â All the bartenders we friendly and fast.
Review Source:Let me start with first saying that I think I ordered the wrong things. The best part of the meal was the pickles and peppers they brought out for a pre-meal snack. The spinach dip appetizer was alright, and my cajun chicken sandwich had a great flavor, but I particularly didn't care for the bun it came out on. And the biggest reason this place didn't get 4 stars were because of the terribly soggy greasy fries. Crispy on the outside but like soup on the inside (I think I just got a bad batch though, my friend said his weren't like that).
Our server was very nice and friendly. And I would give this place another go.
When I first moved here, it rocked. Old green lamps leftover from the 70's, dark hardwood everywhere, a music venue in the middle, with a smoking area on one side, and a non on the other..if you wanted more elegant/intimate dining, you went upstairs. Then they broke down the walls downstairs. For a pool table. ehh...I'm sure the acoustics are GREAT.
Now, it's kind of more like a sports bar..guess that's what sells in stroudsburg. The food's still a 4-5, but the atmosphere's down to a 3.
Grouchiness gotten out, their bands are great, their food is delicious, and their sushi bar was great last time i was there (but that was 2 years ago). The chef from tokyo teahouse oversees it.. Wine selection is meh, but beer is great. Their long islands, on the other hand..more like strong island iced teas! whew!
ok, i'll give it 4 stars, now that i remembered their long islands..
This is probably (so I'm told,) one of the best places to eat in this part of the Poconos. Â The pasta dishes were quite good, and there quite a few beers on tap, including local microbrews. Â It's also very inexpensive, as it seems most of the restaurants in Stroudsburg are. Â There is also a sushi bar here, which I didn't try, and it's a venue for local bands. Â One of the acts coming up was called "Mingo from Big Sausage." Â How can you not like a place that books acts like that?
