Oh, Sassy's! How are you not getting more Yelp lovin'? Just poke your head in the door on a Saturday night and you'll wonder how this place is scoring three stars.

If you're used to big-city clubs, then you'll be disappointed. This is not a big place, and it's not the world's best club. But it is *the* place to dance in Amarillo and as far as this town is concerned, it is most certainly a standard. Maybe even a rite of passage. An epic part of one's coming of age. A legendary fixture! Yeah, that's right... Sassy's is straight mythological, son!

All you need to confirm it is to come in with a few friends after midnight on the weekend. Dancing in any place this packed is a sweaty, transcendental thing... even if the DJ is relatively lame. That has more to do with dancing than the place, but remember what I said about dancing? Where else you gonna go? The Rope-A-Ho? Puh-leez. Even straight kids come here for all dancing needs if they know what's good for 'em.

Just remember that your shiny happy experience is dependent on coming here for cover-free dancing -- not drinks. If you come here to get drunk like this is some dive bar, you will be very disappointed. The waits are long and frustrating, and make you feel like you're in the front row of a standing room only concert. And the payoff is a good drink... that just happens to be really overpriced. Such is life.

I'm not saying don't drink here... the place has to operate... I'm just saying, do a little drinking before you come out. (HA! *rimshot* You see what I did there?)

This place isn't all that great. The reason it's packed Friday/Saturday nights is cause it's FREE 21 and up and no one wants to pay cover anywhere else. They have a dj but I wouldn't consider calling him a dj. Really all they do is just play songs. Same thing as plugging in an ipod and doing it yourself. Mostly trance and top 40.

Went by here looking for a good gay bar while visiting Amarillo.  I went on a Thursday afternoon, and it was empty - complete with no music.  However, I just wanted a drink, so that was fine.  It was clean, not loud, and the bartenders were friendly.  They weren't afraid of offending my delicate sensibilities (haha), and we had a good talk about Amarillo's queer social scene.

Good place, good people.
