This bar kind of stinks. It used to be a really good bar until it went under new management and they got new bartenders who don't know how to make simple drinks and have to look through manuals just to figure out how to make you a simple drink and half the time it never taste correct. It is also just so uncomfortable with the owner sitting there the whole night micro managing his bar staff. Me and my friends used to go here just to chill but now it's too pricey for the weak drinks they put out, specially when you have to wait 5minutes just so the bartenders can figure out how to make your drink. And one more thing, you have to spend 10$ just to use your debit card. Just not a place to go with friends anymore. for us at least.
Review Source:Whiskers is a relaxing place where anyone can go enjoy a few drinks, visit with a great bar staff, listen to the juke box or on certain nights a DJ or karaoke. The bar is nice and cozy, the people are always friendly and compared to a lot of the bars in Amarillo the prices aren't too bad. They always have specials. Overall, it's a great place to start your night or to catch-up with old friends.
Review Source:I've only been here a handful of times so this won't be the most complete review.
This is a really different gay bar than 212 and Sassy's. It's like a classy version of your corner bar. I get the impression it's a pretty regular crowd. The drinks are a bit pricey if I remember correctly but this isn't the place you go to get smashed (that'd be across the street at Rumors). There's a little tv, a pool table that has been open whenever I've been there, a little fireplace and chairs set up around it, and a small bar. It's very comfortable. There's a little bit of an upscale air but it's not snobby. I've also always been treated well there. As a straight guy, I'm of course a little conscious of how I'm treated in gay bars, and where sometimes in a 212 or Bubbas when it was around, I would get obviously eyed up and hit on (which doesn't really bother me, but show some class), Whiskers patrons have treated me cordially, maybe neighborly? I'm impressed by that.
Good place for a quiet evening with friends.
Oh, parking is tight. You're going to be on busy 10th or in the next door lot for Spot's.
