Burried deep in the corn fields of Solon, we found a gem of a spot this evening! The prospect of a wine bar in small town Iowa was but a dream until tonight when, following dinner, we were looking for a wind down spot and Yelp lead us to a pot o' gold!
Savvy is a classy little joint that serves up soups, sandwiches and salads along side some excellent caffeinated beverages as well as beers and wine! Â
The beer selection, while not vast, is quite impressive, They have plenty of the customary inebriants with a number of local microbrews including the delicous backpocket dunkel! Â The wine list isn't huge, but is plentiful enough to keep you busy for quite a while - and for those who like a Spanish flare, they've got some lovely Sangria!
Along with the nice array of sandwiches, soups and salads, they've got nightly specials - our favorite, based solely on names, is Maid-rite Monday's, with grill out Fridays as a close second.
The coffee they serve here is top notch as well. This is the first place in the area that's served a macchiato up how it's supposed to be! My wife had a decaf iced mocha with the "heavenly whipped cream". This stuff is unbelievable - like heavy cream and magic had a kid.
Plenty of room inside and lots of seats out on the patio make for a great time relaxing on a nice evening. The staff are friendly and the decor of the place is simply lovely.
Bottom line - This place is simply fantastic. A great place to enjoy dinner or just have a coffee or brew to begin/end a night!
