I I came here with my boyfriends family for his Moms birthday it was such a special experience. I had never been into a casino before so walking to the restaurant was a great way to start the nights. So many lights! And security guards....eep! Make sure not to take pictures downstairs. I took a pretty cute one with my boy and had the security come up and make me delete it :( boo.
Once we were up to the restaurant we had to wait to be seated although we had a reservation. The bar is located right to where you wait so we all had a round of drinks. My boyfriend had them make him a glass of absinthe which was quite tasty. Although nothing along the effects of the "green fairy" came to us that night. Even after 3 glasses! Shucks.
I got a strawberry daiquiri which was huge, sugary, and topped off with whipped cream. So tasty, but a little on the too sweet end of the spectrum. But that's what you get when you order froo-froo drinks.
The menu here is simple, and expensive. We ordered a couple appetizers fat tire fondue and sashimi to name a few. Both being around twenty dollars each. The sizes are small so prepare for that.
The fondue has a heavy beer taste but is quite good. I honestly liked the seafood appetizers we got much more. Also the warm bread they bring you is to die for, and I kept stuffing my face with that.
Entrees were hard to choose. I decided on a filet mignon topped with fresh crab, my boyfriends sister got the surf and turf which I also thought about getting. (Be careful because it says market price and ended up being 75 dollars...)
The entrees were really good. The steak was not the best steak I have ever had, nor was the crab. But it's honestly the ambience here that makes it so special. The high ceilings, the fireworks (yes there was fireworks that night for some reason) and everyone being dressed to a T. The experience here was overall wonderful. I think the food here is about 3.5 stars but everything else is an easy 5 stars.
We had a large group come through as part of a club get together at Black Oak. Â We understood the difficulty in getting seating for 30 people so the seating in groups of 4-6 was fine, but the attitude we experienced from the hostess (some blond lady in her later years) was just plain rude. Â We kept getting strange looks from her as she patrolled the dining floor. Her demeanor was condescending and unwelcoming.
The quality of food was nice for a Sunday Brunch. Â Not a huge selection, but the food that they did serve was good. Â The wait staff was pleasant and helpful (which attributes for the 2 stars given - one for good food and one for wait staff). Â A major disappointment was that the buffet ran out of several food items. Â What buffet worth their salt does that? Â Ridiculous. Â
The only reason we would go back to this place is because it's the only show in town at Black Oak Casino. Â I think they know it too, so there's no hope of improvement there.
We celebrated my dear friend's birthday party at Seven Sisters. Â We had a party of 10 people (not small, but not huge either). The food and wait staff was great, but I experienced HORRIBLE organization and implementation of our private party details by the special events "coordinator". Â I hesitate on using the word coordinator, because there was no coordinating that went on. Â We had a pre-planned personalized menu arranged (but not implemented). Â We had a huge discrepancy on our bill and it was obvious that what was communicated to me, was not communicated to the staff that evening. Â We were served things we did not order in advance and I found out that special event coordinator had no idea about the items she was recommending to us during our planning. Â The waitress felt bad. Â She gave me the name of the person "in charge" of resolving the issue. Â I left them a message and they never called me back. Â It was embarrassing to me and for that reason I will not be returning. Â Again, great wait staff, and great food, but I would not recommend this establishment for a private party.
Review Source:Last night I had a very delicious birthday dinner at Seven Sisters. It is the second time I have eaten there. Because of my first experience, I decided that was where I wanted my birthday dinner. The first time I had the Crispy Calamari appetizer which was outstanding! Â I loved the mandarin/orange chili sauce. I had the 1 pound Caribbean Lobster Tail entree. So good!
Last night I again had the Crispy Calamari, served with a Fresh Basil Marinara and Ponzu Sauce. I didn't care for the Basil Marinara so I asked my server if I could have the mandarin/orange chili sauce which was not on the menu. She was more than happy to oblige. The Ponzu sauce was very good also. I ordered the Dungeness Crab and Filet Mignon "Oscar". My steak was prepared perfectly. My only small complaint was that I tasted Tarragon in either the crab or the bernaise sauce, which I am not a big fan of, but it wasn't too overpowering. Service was wonderful, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is a bit pricey, but I felt that the service, ambiance, and food are completely worth it.
I had the pleasure of trying the cuisine from your restaurant at the Railtown event in Jamestown on Saturday evening, June 9. Â The appetizers were delicious and put together very nicely; the layered bean dip was delicious, the appetizers with the phyllo dough, and, my favorite, the exquisite brie cheese - Â no complaint there whatsoever.
My problem was with "Melodie" who appeared to be part of the cooking team for this event. Â I had made myself an appetizer plate, finished it, then got back in line to make a plate for my boyfriend, who is an engineer, and was engaged in light-hearted conversation with some of the train crew at the event. Â When Melodie recognized me as already been through the line before, she paused, (gave me a dirty look), then LOUDLY acknowledged (for everyone in her crew and everyone in line to hear), that I had already gone through the line once. Â Melodie THEN asked how I enjoyed the first plate. Â I told her it was delicious, and that I was getting the 2nd plate together FOR MY BOYFRIEND. Â Â She told the crew behind her of my findings, but, come on, was it REALLY NECESSARY for her to put me on the spot by embarrassing me like that?? Â No it wasn't, and for that, and only that, I'm giving my review only three stars. Â Â
There are enough good restaurant out there than for anyone to have to deal with "attitude" Â Good food, but maybe she needs a little Customer Service training.
We had an exceptional experience here! I wasn't sure what to expect after reading some reviews but our dinner was perfect. The servers were all friendly and seemed happy to be at their jobs. The ambiance was lovely; dim lighting and not too loud. Three of us ordered the rib eyes. They were amazing!! Perfectly cooked at medium rare & HUGE. Potatoes were nicely piped onto the plate for a little added touch. Menu said chile garlic potatoes but not too much chile flavor. The garlic flavor was just right. Veggies were okay, nothing to write home about but I didn't come here for those. The other entree was a filet mignon topped with lump crab meat. She raved over the flavor. Each of us also ordered a salad or soup with dinner. The soup was roasted root vegetables and C. said that it was out of this world! Â Very creamy & smooth. Our salads were great. Very fresh and, not too skimpy, and well dressed. Overall, it was a great dining experience.
Review Source:The food was ok, but because of the food to price ratio, I'm giving Seven Sisters 3 stars. I was expecting a bit more from you, Seven Sisters...
I had the Filet Mignon and Crispy Calamari.
Crispy Calamari: small calamari, and a bit over fried. I didn't like the mandarin-chili dipping sauce. Aioli sauce definitely goes better with calamari. I would probably try other appetizers next time and definitely NOT get this dish again.
Fillet Mignon: I ordered medium rare, and it was medium rare. Good job on that. However, it was lacking flavors....I was really disappointed. The garlic mashed potatoes needs more garlic too. I don't like asparagus, and was able to substitute asparagus with other vegetables. Plus for that! Honestly, I prefer the steak from Peppery Gar & Brill (in Sonora) much more! I would try another dish next time.
Ambiance was romantic and elegant. Seven Sisters is definitely a great place to hold celebration parties.
Service was excellent. The waitress tries very hard to make a wonderful dinning experience at Seven Sisters.
I guess that extra $ went into decor and service...
Note: if you're here on a date, the table for two people is a little too big...It was a bit hard to talk to my boyfriend.
Would I come back? Maybe on a Friday night and try out those prefixed date courses.
What a great find of a elegant restaurant in Black Oak casino out in Sonora, the food was heavenly, we had the butternut squash soup and it was out of this world! Catherine, our server, was the best! She took care of us in every way a restaurant should for their guest. We came away. Totally content, ate too much but it was one of experiences you will remember dining at this restaurant . Service and food - top class!
Review Source:If you are in the area on a Friday, they have a 'date night special' for $39.99 and they give you $10 credit towards the casino. The four course meal was excellent and the service was like being in a 5 star restaurant. I wish I could remember what we had, but all I can say is...this is a 'MUST' dining experience
Review Source:It was a nice dining experience the waitress was very nice and the ambience was quiet and intimate. It is very pricey--dishes can go for 30-40 a plate. I had the rack of lamb which was ok. It was my first lamb dish :p I must say I am more of a chicken or fish girl. The creme brûlée was off the hook though. If I go back to Black Oak I would dine here again....if I haven't gambled away all my money that is.
Review Source:My husband and I recently got married at Black Oak Casino and we had our dinner celebration at the Seven Sisters restaurant located in the casino. I called ahead and worked with Black Oak's event coordinator. It was a wonderful day! The food was outstanding and there was so much of it, we could barely finish. As part of our celebration we were ble to customize our menu. We had salmon, filet mignon, and lobster tail. I was able to sample all of it, and it was fabulous! If you are in the area and looking for a plsce to celebrate something special, or just have a great meal, Seven Sisters is perfect!
Review Source:This is our fine dining go-to place to eat when we visit the lakehouse. Been here 4-5 times. Excellent service. Excellent food. I had shark for dinner & tom had filet mignon with lobster. The only order we did not "enjoy" was the calamari steak. We still LOVE the calamari steak @ Terra Mia @ livermore. Overall, this restaurant is well worth the visit. The wood walls/beams .. gorgeous. It was imported from out the country. Absolutely gorgeous.
Review Source:We had a party of 21 for a birthday this weekend. Â EVERYTHING in our four course dinner was excellent. Â I had the salmon, everyone else had the filet. Â Everyone was raving about the food. Â The desserts were to die for. Â The staff was accomodating and always there. Â The restaurant was clean and it may have been non-smoking, as I don't remember having to give dirty looks to any smokers. I will go again, soon. Â Great place for a celebration.
Review Source:Since I live in San Francisco and I am exposed to a lot of great dining options, I had to take the quality of food into consideration with this rating. Let me just say that I really like this place and it is always a great dining experience. The food is nothing over the top but it delivers quality selections every time.
I have had the Crab & Filet a few times as well as the pork chop. We had the Venison as an appetizer last week and it was most delicious. For the first time we ordered the Caesar salad which they prepared right at the table. It was so fresh and delicious I almost licked my plate. For dessert we had the warm cookies and caramel with a Dulce de leche gelato. That was a great dessert to share.
We brought our own wine and just paid the $20 corkage fee which is average for most restaurants. The service was most impressive this last time. It was such an enjoyable experience that I forgot all about the money I lost on the Wheel a Fortune slot machines. We love visiting this restaurant for the experience, the view and the excellent service.
Have eaten here three times and each time the service was adequate and the food was ok. Â Considering the price the food was just passable and the service should have been impecable. Â Service priorities were somewhat askew offering bread by the slice seemed somewhat ridiculous. Â On one event my server came up and made a point of asking each of us our first names......totally un-professional and inappropriate. Â Hopefully the next time I visit things will have improved to the correct price quality ratio. Â They are really missing the boat in the wine department with typically overpriced mediocre California wines that don't pair well with foods
Review Source:After spending two days camping out at Camp Mather during the Strawberry Music Festival (too bad it was raining the whole time), we desperately needed some warmth & good food. On our way back to the Bay Area we decided to stop at Seven Sisters, a short distance from Groveland (at the Black oak casino)...and we are glad we did!!!
The dinner was excellent.  We ordered the grilled sampler which included venison, duck and lamb - all prepared perfectly.  Our appetizer sampler  was also tasty, but wasn't anything to write home about.
The service was Impeccable! Â Our waitress was so personable, yet professional. Â She was extremely knowledgable about the menu and timed our meal perfectly.
We probably won't be making the 3-plus hour drive out there just for the food, but we'll now be much more inclined to visit the casino and enjoy a superb dinner when we are there!
