With the paucity of restaurants in and around Hot Springs Village, The Shack has become both a favorite and a staple of the food scene. Â Absolutely nothing fancy here: Â basically an old-fashioned "drive-in" (that has inside and outside seating now), it serves burgers, catfish, and the like. Â The Shackburger is great, and the catfish is always crispy, tasty, and perfect.
Located about 4 miles north of the West (Main) Gate into Hot Springs Village on Highway 7, across from Jessieville High School, The Shack is almost always busy in the early evening (Villagers tend to eat dinner very early) and the wait can be a bit long for this type of place, but the prices are good and the food dependable.
Worth checking out.
For a small dump like this I can't think of one thing that wasn't really good. The catfish basket and hamburgers are excellent. The service is a little slow but the wait is worth it. Plus, they have a window that opens to parking where they sell frozen custard or whatever moniker you use. And it is wonderful ; esp the chocolate! Just don't take guests you want to impress with atmosphere or charm.
Review Source:Not really on the way to or from anywhere, The Shack is a local staple for burgers and the like. I have been here several times and always look forward to coming back. The Shackburger is one of my favorites. Most everyone is local and will treat you like you've been coming there your whole life.
Review Source:We came back from quartz mining at the Ron Colman mines. Â Awesome quartz mining but that is for a different review. Â All I can say is that my son is pretty picky when it comes to his burgers said, "this is the best burger ever". Â What it reminds me of is a good ole' fashion hand made burger made with some loving care by the people that work there. Â The service was given with a smile and the care you would expect from people that love what they are doing. Â The pulled pork sandwich also was again great and had that home cook taste to it. Â I didn't have the catfish, but it looked wonderful and the smell made me turn my head several times. The prices were modest. Â We would highly recommend this to anyone within 15 miles. Â We bumped into this place by accident and I am so glad we made the stop instead of moving on into Hot Springs to eat. High Recommend!
Review Source:We ate lunch and since it was a nice day sat outside. Â The catfish basket was excellent. Â The hush puppies were especially good. Â The place was very busy and it took too long for the waiter to bring us our drinks (we eventually went and got them ourselves) but that was the only negative. Â I'll go back.
Review Source:Hamburgers and super cute old folks. While on a long Thanksgiving weekend, I had the pleasure of having a Shackburger with cheese and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were excellent, crunchy and well cooked onions inside. The interior has 70's stone walls and cozy 4 person seating. If there's a reason to go to jessieville. This is it. Oh and did I mention the super tasty shakes?!? peanutbutter shake is a must.
Review Source:Looking for the best catfish in state? Â Look no further than the shack. Needs to be on Dive's, Diner's and Drive In's. Owner that cooks built the literal building and has been serving it up for 30+ years. If you are anywhere remotely close it is a must. Prices were excellent, service awesome, food dad gum good.
Review Source:we took a recommendation to try this place from some locals. Â Im glad I did. Â The catfish is some of the best that Ive had and the family loved the place. Â The wait staff is very friendly and always ensuring that you are taken care of with drinks. Â If you are near Hot Springs village and looking for a hole in the wall with great food.... this is the place. Â As a tip... bring Cash. Â They dont take plastic.
Review Source:Also known as "Jessieville Country Club". Â located across the street from Jessieville high school. Â really good food, fast, and very friendly wait staff. Â Small town restaurant feel to it. Â
I had a b-b-q sandwich (I dont' really recommend it since there are better b-b-q places near them in Hot Springs, but not too bad). Â They also make fried catfish which is a real hit to the locals. Â
Good food at really good prices.
