Have to give this place a mixed review. My husband and I thought we'd use Seize the Deal to give this restaurant a try for a Friday night dinner out. Drinks were a little pricey. Our server brought out some French bread with olive oil seasoned with herbs and garlic. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to not be so heavy handed with the salt. We started dinner with an appetizer. We decided to split an order of the stuffed banana peppers. Stuffed with Mineo & Sappio sausage, topped with marinara sauce & bubbling melted mozzarella cheese. While not as good as those at Papa Jakes, they were definitely worth the visit. The sauce was nicely seasoned and made a good accompaniment to the peppers. My husband ordered the panko encrusted fish & chips, I ordered the Cajun broiled fish & chips. Both were served with Shadow Slaw & hand cut kettle cooked potato chips. My husband received a generous portion of panko encrusted fish nice fried. The panko was crispy & the fish was moist & flaky. My fish, however, was overcooked, dry & inedible. The Shadow Slaw was OK, but we did enjoy the chips. Thankfully, we weren't charged for my entree. I don't think we will return to this restaurant.

This place simply reeks of coolness: from the name, to the people that you spot there, to the live music, to the dance floor that just undulates with the edgiest of moves. The bartenders work the 40 foot runway like skilled air traffic controllers and always seem to have their eye on you, ready to pour you a refill. From the simple but serious singlemalt to the silliness of a pinnapple upside down martinee, the two attractive mixocologists at the controls that night were both easy on the eyes and adept at making a jolly good drink.

This is a great place to go for late night fun regardless of your generation.

A weird blend of dive bar + small lounge-like area. Fun, live music but a very "mature" crowd. Kinda nice seeing that grandparents can still go out and get down.

The Shadow Lounge is very highly rated by many people. What I find unfortunate is the dining space. Many great bands are heard here on
weekends, but it is nearly impossible to find a space to watch and listen to them. Very cramped space, drinks seem a little pricey, great music, just hard to find room to dance and enjoy the bands

I've been to Shadow Lounge twice now. Once on a busy night on the weekend, with live and music and a lively crowd, and once during a weeknight, where my fiance and I were one of only two tables having dinner.

We went both times (the first with another couple) for the purpose of dinner and drinks, not just to drink at the bar. Both times we've eaten here we used a http://Restaurant.com gift certificate, so if something went horribly wrong, it wouldn't be a total loss. The rest of the review focuses only on our most recent experience, from last week.

Our waitress was very nice, personable, and did a great job at explaining the specials and desserts not shown on the menu. I think most people probably underestimate the food here, and view Shadow as more of "just a bar", and less of a restaurant. This past trip my fiance and I basically shared a variety of items from the menu, excluding our salads. Our selections included the Chicken Wontons ($7), Cajun Crab & Artichoke Dip ($8), Thai Fondue ($9), and a Caesar Salad ($6/each) for each of us. We split a Coconut & Chocolate Chip Crème Brulée ($7) for dessert.

Especially considering the prices, all of the food was good--cooked well, good temperature, and the flavors were well balanced. For a place that seems to be more focused on the bar and live music aspects, the quality of the food may surprise you. The menu specials always change, and they are usually interesting, so make sure you ask what they are if the waitress doesn't automatically mention them!

Once thing that does throw me off is that even though the dinner tables are nicely arranged and have real tablecloths, they're paired with plastic, non-cushioned chairs. Sturdy? Yes. Tacky? Definitely.

I liked the ambiance. I liked my server, I liked my martinis. I was not insulted by the appearance or age of anyone there. My salad was ok, I wouldn't get it again. My date enjoyed his steak.

I am giving a 3 instead of 2 because of the live music and good service. However, this place could be way cooler(not that I am the authority on cool...) and have better drinks. Maybe since I'm not a martini person this wasn't the best place for me. No Belgium beers...I don't even think you can really get anything imported. The crowd was mixed in terms of ages but mostly I'd say 35+...which is fine but that's not exactly my "peer group". Anyway, I did enjoy the live music.

I've never ate there, but I do enjoy their martini's. they may not be the strongest, but they are enough. my favorite is the playboy martini, very tasty.

the crowd is alright, a group of us go and we have a good time

Shadow has its moments. The martini list has some real gems. As Kelly said, they're not hardcore 100% liquor drinks, but the flavors are really good. Don't expect to get drunk on less than 3 of them though.

The food is average, but the atmosphere is nice and it's a fairly chill place to go. When they have live music it's a little loud, so I would recommend staying clear if you want to talk to the people you go with.

This place is not nearly as cool as it pretentiously tries to be. No, you are not a "cool" "NYC-style" lounge. I wonder if those people who say a bar in the Buffy is "NYC-style" have ever spent any time in NYC outside of Polly Esther's and Culture Club.

The drinks are pricey and weak. The crowd is older-slutty. I saw some women wearing some really inappropriate outfits. Slut!
