Every time we visit my Grandma the kids look forward to having pizza from the Shepherd Bar.  It is hand tossed and very yummy  When my Grandfather was alive he loved this place and it hasn't changed in the consistent quality of food.  This last time I had the Chicken Cherry Salad and it was so very yummy.  We can't wait for next year!
Review Source:We went to Shepherd Bar when they had a limited menu at the tail end of the Maple Syrup Festival. Â The downtown area was pretty dead, but this place was hopping -- filled with happy people drinking good beer and enjoying the evening. Â The Sunday special (broasted chicken) was quite good, and the "signature" hoagies received good reviews from our group. Â The maple syrup beer (brewed by Saugatuck Brewing) was excellent.
Unfortunately, the pizza was just okay. Â It looked great, but fresh toppings (instead of what tasted like canned) would have improved the taste a lot.
All said, this is a great little bar/restaurant in a region of Michigan where it's hard to find a decent place to eat. Â With most of the good Mt. Pleasant restaurants closed on Sundays, this may be our future go-to place, especially on a Sunday.
