I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time, but haven't found the time until now! Â Despite my overall rating, I would like to say that their food is typically decent with large portions. Â I can't say that the authenticity is there in regard to "Creole" but it is good... I especially recommend the crab cake pasta.. I used to get that all the time, until.....
This past summer (2012), I drove to Shorty Pants for an early lunch on the lake.. This place does have a great, quite lake view. Â It was about 11am on a Sunday and there were only two tables in the place.. I live about 25 minutes from Shorty Pants, and I hate the drive... Â Having been there plenty of times before, I always loved that I could bring my 12 lbs VERY WELL behaved Cairn Terrier. Â So on this Sunday, I did..
Until the "Manager" Ashley Tune came over to tell me that I needed to leave as they don't allow dogs. Â I explained that I have been there plenty of times with my dog and this was never the case AND on their website it says dogs are allowed... I also mentioned my hour round trip to have an EARLY lunch at their restaurant.. She demanded that I leave and exclaimed "We have the right to change the policy whenever we feel like it."
So professional right? Â Needless to say, we have never returned. Â In my line of work, I entertain. Â I can say that between my fiance and I, we sent or personally took numerous clients there... They easily lost hundreds of dollars weekly due to this mishap...
FOLLOW UP: if you are wondering where we ended up going, we randomly stumbled upon Larry's on the Lake in Camdenton... We had to drive an extra 15 minutes, but they welcomed us with doggy treats and a water bowl. Â They also shared the days they have doggy days at the restaurant. Â I will review them next!
We come here often, mainly because it's just down the road from our home, and it's just your average American food place, where you can find yourself eating bland $11 hamburgers.  I have yet to try anything spectacular and  I have been 4 times. However the scenery is one to remember and it's such fun eating outside, you forget how insanely hot it is in Missouri!
Review Source:I love love love Shorty Pants Lounge.
My first experience with it was in 2011 with my bachelorette party being hosted here while at the Lake. Â They were phenomenal with service and whatnot then that when I recently returned to the Lake, I knew where I was going to take my husband once in town.
Due to fall weather, it was a bit cold so the deck wasn't open this time but the atmosphere inside is just as electric as outside. Â Our waitress ended up being from our area in St. Louis so it was fun to talk to her about all that and how she landed at the Lake.
Their drinks are great and you get a keepers cup to take with you.
Their food is good and if you can't find something on their menu, then I don't know where you're going to eat. Â I got the buffalo chicken with fries and it was good. Â But then again a lot of places can't go wrong with buffalo seasoning.
Just a word of caution, their driveway to park is at weird angles so if you're going to drive instead of boat in, be sure that you haven't had too much to drink so you can figure it all out. Â They have plenty of spots for both cars and boats.
Thank you Shorty Pants for being a great addition to the Lake - we will be back!
My wife and I are fans of this lake front restaurant.
The service is always very good along with the food. Having been in Louisiana many times I can say their Cajun creations are good, but not always authentic. Â I like the catfish poboy and my wife likes the muffuletta. Â The sweet potato fries are great and prepared with sugar and cinnamon. Â The red beans and rice are also very good. All of our guests have liked this place as well.
We also like the fact that they have PWC slips along with boat slips to park there if you are coming from by water.
Maybe I should chalk this one up to unrealistic expectations, but I was woefully disappointed in Shorty Pants Lounge. The real bummer? My expectations were for it to be a hot mess of an Ozarks lake bar. Instead, I got a boring, dull, uninspired waterfront version of Applebee's.
Let's talk about why I had these expectations in the first place:
1. The name is Shorty Pants Lounge
2. There are two ways to get here: by boat or dirt road
3. The name is Shorty Pants Lounge
We were all giddy to check this place out, expecting some sort of roadhouse cougar den. While we did get the cougars, the rest was just a really generic experience. Lame early 90s music (and I came of age in the early 90s!), bad decor that was not bad enough to be unintentional, and kids running around everywhere. boo.
I can't speak for the food, as we didn't eat, but what I can speak for is the drinks. The menu looks expansive and promising, but EVERY. SINGLE. DRINK. we ordered was incredibly weak. Frozen drinks tasted just like slushies. My margarita tasted like pure sweet and sour. We all moved to beer, because we knew they couldn't find a way to siphon off the alcohol from a pre-packaged bottle. We did notice that the wine pours seemed ridiculously huge, but none of us felt like drinking wine.
Other than the poor drinks, nothing about the place was particularly offensive, but it was just dull dull dull. And when you're on vacation, that's the most offensive thing of all.
Four of us stopped for lunch at Shorty Pants while boating. Â Our waitress was friendly and efficient and very accommodating. Â Our drinks (Mango Margarita, mimosa, and frozen hurricane) were as excellent as the service. Â Food was great too. Â The jambalaya signature side could be a meal all by itself. Â The asparagus was flavorful and cooked to just the right tenderness. Â The shrimp BLT wrap was very good as was the Cajun Wrap. Â They were also very large. Â We took our leftovers as we had a cooler on the boat. Â A smaller portion would have sufficed though. Â Great service and great food made this a great experience for us. Â I'd go back if I wasn't going home tomorrow.
Review Source:One of the best spots on the lake for sure. Granted, the food is pretty much bar food (still better than most places out there), but it's the atmosphere that sells me. I feel like this place is always pretty busy, not so much family oriented, though I have seen a few kids running around. Overall it's just a good time every time.
Review Source:New menus... EXPENSIVE Â $20 for a sandwich and drink.
Charged me extra for each topping that "came with" the sandwich and almost every side is now a "signature" side and charged an extra $1 for sweet fries.
Food is great, but way over priced and the drinks are watered down and expensive. Going to take out guests elsewhere this summer. Very disappointing Shorty Pants.
Shorty Pants is also a lake staple for my boyfriend and I - and with good reason! They're owned by the same people that own Dog Days - so they're somewhat similar in that regard. Like Dog Days - what really gets me is the awesome outside deck they have right on the water - and the delicious and dangerous frozen concoctions. They serve Cajun food, which is a nice little change than the standard American fare.
