Stop #2. I wished that I had gotten the opportunity to review these guys based on something other than a mind-boggling excuse. I had slated Silver Creek for my second stop on a brewpub trifecta. The website states that they're open from noon until 6:00 on Sundays. When I got there there were four guys outside smoking and one told me that they were closed for brewing. Unless they have the Chicago city worker mentality, where one guy would watch two guys supervise a fourth who was actually doning something, this leaves me scratching my head. I ran kitchens for years and couldn't imagine telling someone that we were closed for cooking. I mentioned that it would be nice to post this inexplicable lack of service on the website. If you can list your hours of operation you could casually mention being closed on the 23rd of March. Thank you very little.
Review Source:I've been to the Silver Creek Brewery a few times before and those experiences have been okay. Â However, on this trip, we just wanted to come on in for a beer. Â When we arrived at the entrance around the back, there was a rope up. Â But the sign said that it was open on Sunday's from 12pm-6pm. Â So we decided to just take a peek to see if the doors were open - which they were. Â We were impolitely greeted by the brew master, when I kindly asked if they were open at all today. Â He angrily said to us, in a yelling manner, "WE are CLOSED today....we are BREWING" - just in that tone if you can imagine. Â We turned right around, feeling very anger ourselves for being spoken to in that way. We will never be back there again, nor buy any beers in any store that come from this brewery. Â It's quite a shame because, from what I remembered from previous trips, the beer is pretty good. Â But that's about it. That's why it gets just 2 stars.
Review Source:Really a 4 1/2 stars. If they had food of any kind, it would probably be 5 stars. You can, however, bring in or order food to be delivered to the pub.
I just love this place. As folks have said, a place to chill with a great beer especially during nicer weather sitting alongside Cedar Creek (not the Milwaukee River as some have said). I love coming in the afternoon since it can be harder to find a seat later in the evening, especially weekends. Check their website for the hours since they open at various times in the afternoon.
In my opinion, Silver Creek's Maibock is among the best beers in Wisconsin. Period. It is higher octane so definitely sip slowly and don't overdo it. The other beers are good also.
This is a great place to stop while trekking through Cedarburg. Â It is on the beautiful river, and the entryway is breathtaking. Â It is, as several other reviewers have stated, somewhat dungeon-like - very cool. Â I had a raspberry frambois beer that was absolutely to die for. Â It was the sweetest, most delicious beer I think I have ever had. Â I can't wait to go back when the weather is a little warmer and sip something delicious as I watch the ducks float casually by on the swirling water.
Review Source:Ok, I am loving this little spot not only for its great beer, but for its location and entrance. Â Seriously, dipping down behind the old mill and finding this gem is what makes it so perfect. Â Right at the waterfall, you open the large oak door and walk across a bridge inside the bowels of the mill where the water was cycled through for the mill (yes, the water is still running through there) and its pretty darn cool.
I also find the micro brewed beers to be delicious, but my favorite is the Dunkel Weis that is on tap 365 days a year. Â Yum. Â Check it out.
Oh man, is this place COOL. Â
No really, I think breweries can be "effective". Â I think they can be "delicious". Â But rarely are they as COOL as this one is!! Â Once you find it (the others are right, it's hard to find!) you walk along a little walkway over a waterfall. Â
It has a dungeunous feel to it. Â And you pull open this huge wooden door, and your transported into this dark and swank bar with tables that look like they belong on a patio. Â
There was one open table, and we snagged it. Â We arrived before happy hour ended, so my husband's beers were only $4-6 each. Â Score! Â
I don't drink beer, but the margaritas I ordered were SO good. Â Very generous pour! Â It was basically ice and tequila. Â Delicious!!
My husband said his beers were amazing, and he even went back and got a growler of something delicious. Â I wish I could tell you what it was, but alas...I don't know enough about beer :)
Excellent beer. Â Tables by the creek are the best in the state. Â Beware the headbanger music indoors when the kids take over the bar. Â No problem with that if the crowd matched the music....but when we were there it was a Crosby Stills Nash kind of gathering.
The beer gets better every year. Â My wife can now have a glass of local wine. Â Some interesting spirits as well.
Only thing we worry about is too many people finding this hidden treasure.
Let me set up the ambiance first folks. This brewpub is located in an old mill, on a side street parallel to downtown Cedarburg, right along the Milwaukee River. So you walk along the river, and through their beer garden. Â You hear the rushing water from the damn up the way and continue on. Â You then turn left and walk across a bridge, over the mill and finally into the cozy clean bar. Awesome.
Because this gem is a little hard to find, the place is usually less busy. Â The brewpub makes three different beers. Â My favorite is their porter. Â It is a nice combination of malt and sweet goodness. It is an even concoction of both, making it easy to slide down. This place has awesome beers on tap all of the time. And it is never stagnant. Â Once one beer runs out, there is a different one to replace it. Â Constantly changing, always something different when I go. If you are unsure of how a beer is going to taste, the staff is more than ready to give you a sample. (awesome)
And the staff! They have always been pleasant and are educated on their product. Tell them what you like, and they'll recommend something similar.
I have one gripe which is - if a band plays there in winter, the seating is limited. It is fine if it's during summer because you have the entire beer garden to sit in, right on the Milwaukee river.
My little recommendation, this is a fun chill relaxed atmosphere, not really a place to get rowdy. If you're going to go, go for an awesome brew and good conversation.
This is the most intimate, fun yet functional, charming brewpub I've ever been to. Â I was at the German festival on Saturday and won a $20 gift certificate to Silver Creek Brewing Company so my girlfriend and I gave it a try.
Finding the place was a little difficult, but once found, I was very impressed with both the beers and the charm. Â You approach the brewpub by walking along the creek, where the beer garden is located. Â The inside where the bar is located is equally charming and intimate. Â The beers were great, and looking back I should have gotten a sampler. Â My favorite beer was the hefe-weiss which wasn't overly wheaty, and had a nice banana aroma to it.
Oh, and just in case(of what?), there's a shower in the bathroom.
Cheers.
Every time my wife and I go on a trip we always like to stop into the local brewpub. Â We took a trip up to Kohler for the weekend, and I was scouting for a brewery to check out. Â On the way up we had a couple of hours to kill before we could get into our room. Â
Cedarburg is such a cute little town. Â We went through the town checking out all the little shops. Â They actually had a little home brew store. Â
We had a little bit of trouble finding the place. Â When we drove in we went past the sign, but there isn't much parking by the mill. Â You have to walk around the building and thought a pathway where the water goes over the old water wheel. Â The bar and brewery share one long room. Â
I love a brewery where they don't hesitate to pass out the samples. Â We tired a few and I went with the IPA. Â It was light, crisp, hoppy and well balanced. Â Just the way a IPA should be! Â
Another thing to note. Â They had a AWESOME patio that over looked the river. Â Just GORGEOUS!!! Â I bet it is the place to be in the summer.
Came around a corner and stumbled onto this brewery thanks to prior Yelp reviews. Loved the outside tables by the river in  September '09 and the funky stream you cross getting inside. Dunkleweiss home brew a must try. Maybe a touch short of 5 stars, inside not quite as cool as the deck, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. Did not eat here, that could change ratings too.
Review Source:This is my favorite brewpub in Cedarburg. It's location is amazing especially when you walk through the mill and water to get to the pub. Their beer is fantastic. You can buy a small portion of it in a jug. I've bought beer that way and had a delicious addition to the meal.
The bartender gives great advice as to which beer is the best for your tastes. I like their blonde rootbeer too. Definitely try it. It's so good. They offer cheese plates if you're hungry. It's a great, little gem in Cedarburg.
