We totally loved this place.  The menu had good food and our group ordered a lot of beer that was tasty.  To top it all off we could buy books during the meal! Good times.

We stopped in Dayton on our way to Palouse Falls andwere quite pleased to have stumbled upon Skye Book & Brew for lunch.  It was a gorgeous day over Labor Day weekend, so we ended up sitting outside on the back patio.  Service was attentive, food was very good (we had soup of the day, which was a lentil & sausage, and sandwiches), and the brews were wonderful!  Would definitely visit again when we are in the area.

What a great idea! Beer, Food, Coffee and Books!  This little place is framed by a bookstore, but has a great menu of items to choose from for lunch and dinner.  I went in for dinner and ordered a soup and sandwich combo and it was delicious!  The service was great and very accommodating when I asked to have the sandwich altered a bit.  As I was heading out the place was filling up with locals coming in for a after work drink with neighbors and friends.  It was a nice dinner and I might even return for lunch today!

After a morning playing around in the snow up in the foothills, I swung in to this unique looking place for lunch.  My wife and I had often talked about our dream being to one day open a used book store/pub.  These fine folks took it one step further by making it a BREW PUB.

Not huge...maybe 10-12 tables, and 40 linear feet of used books upstairs, with new books and board games you can play while you wait for your food.

I ordered, or course, the Reuben...and to go with it got the Caeser Salad and some potato chips.  And since it is a brew pub, I felt it was my responsibilty to try a tasty adult beverage.

They had 4 on their normal menu, plus a newly release Oatmeal Chocolate Stout.  That sounded A-Okay, so I order a pint to go with my sandwich.

Tasty, tasty sandwich.  Plenty of corned-beef and kraut, and Nice, Thick Rye bread.  The salad was nothing fancy...lettuce, croutons, shreaded parmesean, and a nice tasty dressing.  Didn't taste like it came out of a bottle.  The least impressive part of the meal was the pickle...sigh...I miss nice fresh east coast pickels...

The beer....the Oatmeal Chocolate Stout was AMAZING.  After finishing the first one, I didn't think it would be responsible to have a 2nd one, but then the nice waitress told me that they do half-pints too..and that I felt I could fit in.

When I went to leave, I asked if they have some of their beers to go.  I was told they do, either in growlers or 22oz bottles.  The only sad part was that the Stout wasn't available in bottle.  I eased my pain by picing up a bottle of their IPA, Scotch Ale, and a Honey Wheat.  So far, I have drank the IPA and Scotch Ale.  I'm not a bug fan of IPA's to start with...but this one had plenty of bold flavor if that is your thing.

The Scotch Ale was also very, very good...a fair amount of smokey, almost peaty flavor to it....but very smooth...went down WAY to easy.

Can't wait to bring my wife back to the cute town of Dayton to have another excuse to hit this fine establishment.

I think it's amazing that Dayton has this little gem of an eatery tucked away.  You walk in the front door to find yourself surrounded by books, a great distraction while waiting for your order to arrive at the table.  The atmosphere was set just right with an acoustic selection.  My Chinese chicken salad was good as was my husband's hot sandwich.  We didn't try any of the house brews, but we did try the peach crisp and licked the bowl clean.  We'll remember to stop again.

After a day of snowshoeing in the Blues (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsiksika-scottish.blogspot.com%2F2009%2F01%2Fsnow-s.html&s=e2c26d17f0bc918c4ea6a59c309ed4ff5821c86eb5222e714005743efccfd390" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://siksika-scottish.…</a>), our group decided to stop by the Skye (as in Isle of Skye in Scotland).  We ordered a couple of nachos (veggie and "normal")---they were pretty damn good.  Several of us ordered some of their home brews as well, and they were good.

The server was nice and made us feel at home.  There are also new and used books to shop for, as well as some board games to play while wasting the time away.
