Slaton Steakhouse

As I was driving through Slaton we suddenly realized that I was starving. I lucked out and drove past the Slaton Steakhouse, feeling adventurous I stopped. They have a diner vibe and not necessarily a Steakhouse feeling.

I had surgery a few weeks prior to this on my foot and was still having some difficulty getting around. The friendly waitress saw this and offered to go through the salad bar for me. I appreciated the offer but did not want to impose so I kindly said that I could get it. She agreed, left the table and calmly walked to the salad bar and started loading a plate for me. After she saw that I ate the watermelon first she came back with a bigger plate loaded with melon.

We asked her advice on what we should get from the menu and she made a couple suggestions, I ended up going with the chicken fried steak because I was told they were hand breaded. The suggestion was perfect and the steak was great.

The only odd thing (to me) about the restaurant is that you have to walk through the smoking section (which seems weird that they still exist) to get to the non smoking. I did not enjoy that aspect of the meal but my great salad, fruit, and chicken fry made up for it.
