My boyfriend took me here for an afternoon date.  He had purchased a deal on Living Social that included a wine tasting and tour of the vineyard. The tour guide Tony was AMAZING.  My boyfriend is the type that likes to ask a million questions, and Tony was able to answer all of them.  Not only was he knowledgeable, but he was also extremely friendly. All the wines sampled were excellent. I really enjoyed Bashful Ewe, while my boyfriend loved Winey  Mary. So many different flavors to choose from.  The location is beautiful.  I would recommend stopping by if in the area.
Review Source:DO NOT HOLD EVENTS HERE! Â Dear friends of ours chose to have their wedding at SCV. Â Paid $3000 just to hold the wedding out in the field behind the store. Â SCV was to have provided a tent (in case of inclement weather). Â Apparently the vendor they normally use had no tents available for that date, and SCV didn't pursue the matter with other vendors. Â The personnel were rude and unaccommodating. Â Snidely commenting that they were open for business, and couldn't be of any assistance. Â Due to terrible storms/heavy rain that day, the couple eventually had to move the wedding indoors. Â More uncooperative behavior by the winery staff. Â Got the wedding over, then everyone was run off before pictures could be taken. Â 'We're open for business.' Â They'd double booked! Â Having a HIGH SCHOOL homecoming event at the same time. Â No. Â Never again. Â Please, DO NOT subject yourselves to this kind of treatment for any special event.
Review Source:We took a trip to the sleepy Creek vineyards today ,they had Salt Fort River Art Fest 2011 going on .
The weather was perfect and so was the wine and the people that work there.
They have a wine tasting on the weekend ,great choice .
Got to try 7 wines white and red ,we liked 3 out of 7 the best the rest was not bad either .
We purchased 2 different kinds of bottles of wine and one bag of Wine ICE stirs and Lemon wine freeze for slushy oh that stuff is dangerously good.
They had lots of cool stuff at the Art Fest, enjoyed the woodcarving.
Prices for the wine are very good ,been a wine drinker for lots of years.
Wine does not have to be expensive to be good.
I know I will be going back!See ya there!
I went for the first time last night. Â We did wine tasting first. Â The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. Â I completely agree with the other reviews regarding the staff - not pretentious at all. Â A great place if you're just starting to learn about wine.
They had a band from NC so that was enjoyable. Â They performed indoors which surprised me but worked out fine. If you are planning to go on a weekend, check the net to see if they are having a band because it's possible they will sell out.
Nice selection of cheese, and a few, not a lot of good wines. Â They are working on a new release, Scapegoat. Â We could sample but not purchase. Â As other reviews said, their wines are agreeable if you're new to wine.
Only negative for me is the seating is not very comfortable, and we got there late so we had to sit upstairs with no one else. Â
Atmosphere is very casual...no need to dress up. Â Worth checking out if you're in the area.
I came to Sleepy Creek Vineyards on a Sunday after and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience! They had free wine tasting when I went, which was a huge plus! They had about 4 different kinds of white wines and about 5 different kinds of reds. They had their own version of sangria. And they had this slushy wine which was sooooooooo good (must try)! All of which I had the opportunity to try, for FREE!!
They sold wine by the glass (about $5-7) and by the bottle (about $15-$17). They also sold cheese by the block (about $4-5) and they had a variety to choose from (pepperoni- chedder, cojack, sundried tomato cheese).
They tables inside and outside so that you can sit down and enjoy your wine and cheese. They had a swinging bench outside facing a nice, small lake.
I will definitely be going back!
What an awesome find! Â On our way to Kickapoo State Park for a picnic, my friend and I realized we had forgotten to pick up wine! Â Right as we were wondering whether St. Joseph would have a place to pick up wine, we pass a billboard advertising none other than Sleepy Creek Vineyard! Â What are the odds?!
They have free wine tastings on the weekends, and fun events throughout the month. Â Things like Wieners & Wine every Friday, food/music/art festivals periodically, movies, live theatre shows, live music, etc.
The wines this vineyard has tend to be on the sweeter side and have playful names like Sour Puss, Â Bull Headed, Three Amigos, Little Woody, etc. Â They also have these really yummy wine slushy mixes you can buy where you just add wine and ice (they are soooo yummyyyy. Â You can hardly taste the alcohol).
Of the ones I tried, I liked their Bull Headed. Â It's one of their drier wines (though that's not saying too much as all their wines were pretty sweet), red, which had this yummy vanilla smell and finish to it. Â
Their bottles range from $12 - $16, and they have a mini art gallery in the upper level of the tasting room. Â They also have a gift shop section that carries some interesting things, so have a look around.
The staff is nice, and not pretentious at all, so don't feel intimidated at all if you've never been to a vineyard or to a wine tasting before.
In one of the last places I would've thought to look for a vineyard, Sleepy Creek was a great find! Â I will DEFINITELY be back!
