I agree with the other two reviews regarding the Dave Matthews show on 4/27. Worst concert experience ever!

Venue was too crowded and the sound was terrible!

i agree with the others who have reviewed for the recent DMB concert.  HORRIBLE VENUE!  placed all patrons is danger by overselling seats!  had the severe weather actually approached snowden grove...well, that would have been a disaster!

lines for the bathroom & beer were easily 40-60minutes, and the acoustics were THE WORST i've ever experienced.  i've had better experiences at mud-fest in may music festival (memphis in may music festival)!   i barely heard the concert...in fact our group commented on how strange it was to be able to carry on a "normal" conversation at concert!  then DMB had to compete with the county fair noise/music....shame on you snowden grove!

Was very excited to see DMB. Unfortunately, a few things got in the way. We were general admission and it was an absolute mud pit. This I could deal with. What I couldn't deal with were the smokers who were allowed to light up anywhere their little heart desired. It was so mad we moved down to stand on the ramp for the remainder of the concert. We couldn't see anything but the sound was better and no smokers. Overall, it made me realize that I will not be back. I'll travel for a concert before I go back to Snowden Grove.

I saw Wilco at Snowden Grove last night, my first visit to this relatively new live music venue. I had such a good time listening to one of my favorite bands that it's tough for me to suss out my actual take on the venue itself. To help, I decided to split my personality into Wilco Fanboy Dave (WFD) and Devil's Advocate Dave (DAD). Be patient with me:

WFD: I love Snowden Grove! Wilco was freakin' awesome!

DAD: Wilco, schmilco. Why in the world could not MEMPHIS build a place like that? Oh wait, they have--it's called Mud Island, and people don't go there. Anyway, I've got reservations about so many things...I could go on and on and on...

WFD: Don't be such a stick in the mud.

DAD: Speaking of mud, what about that "parking lot," eh? Now I know why it's called "Snowden Grove"...you literally parked in the woods. On the grass. And mud. Good thing the ghost of the hurricane stayed mainly south and west of here...and YIKES. Ten bucks to park? I hate it here.

WFD: Well...true. You do have a couple of points there. But the SOUND was great!

DAD: Sure it was...that's what third-row seats will get ya. But you got pretty wet, didn't you?

WFD: Sure I did. But I didn't care...I was too into the show to notice. Plus, we had ponchos!

DAD: Cheese dip could not possibly have made you feel drier.

    WFD: No, no...pOnchos, not PAnchos.

DAD: Whatever. My point is that even your precious third-row seats were uncovered...fundamental problem in my eyes. By comparison, the (former) Starwood in Nashville and (former) Hi-Fi Buys in Atlanta at least have covered seating for the, ahem, Big Spenders.

WFD: Sure...but if it had been a sterry night, we would never have noticed...

DAD: "Starry," you mean? I think you have a spelling reputation to protect. And how about those bathrooms?

    WFD: What bathrooms?

DAD: Exactly. Ten bucks to park, no overhead covering, AND a short row of Johnny-on-the Jobs...or Johnnys-on-the-Job...either way, First Class, baby, First Class.

WFD: "Either Way"...hey, nice Wilco reference!

DAD: Purely coincidental. And don't change the subject...the potties, remember?

WFD: So they're still probably working on that. In the meantime, what did you expect--the Hotty Toddy Potties from the Ole Miss Grove? I bet they get the restroom situation worked out.

DAD: But they didn't have it "worked out" by last night. And that's when YOU were there, so that's all you can judge it by.

WFD: Good point. But...man, it WAS a great show, though, wasn't it?

DAD: At least that's what you said.

WFD: But YOU liked the show, too, right?

DAD: Of course I did. Wilco was freakin' awesome. But don't tell anyone I said that...I have a reputation to protect, too.
