Service was good, FOOD was terrible. Â This was my third experience at this place since the new chef. Â They served our party a cheese platter for an appetizer and it was the worse cheese and the jelly did not compliment the cheeses at all. Â I will not be going back. Â Overpriced Food for quality.
Review Source:Went there last night for valentines day. There was a price fixe menu for 80.00 a couple. It included a nice glass of champagne. Â We were told we would be brought warm bread, which never made it to the table. The cream of crab soup did have a couple generous lumps of crab, but the soup had a distinct burnt taste. The salads were unimpressive and the entrees were surprisingly small portions. When we had not gotten any silverware for our entrees in over five minutes, I went to speak to the manager and was very sympathetic about the busy nature of the holiday. He was unimpressed and had a waiter bring us silverware. The entrees were mediocre. The dessert was pretty but not delicious. At the end of the dinner all of the ladies were brought roses, except for me. Had we received better service or any comment of remorse for our evening, I would have been much more lax in my reviews of the night. Because of this experience, I would not patronize this restaurant again.
Review Source:We went here on a Wednesday. Â We chose Wednesday because it is Sobo's half price wine night, and the fact we had a couple of Southern Boy Concept's Loyalty Cards we needed to use before they expired at the end of the year. Â
The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and casual. Â Unfortunately on this night the roof was leaking and there was a puddle in the middle of the floor. Â Also, someone forgot to light the candles that sit on each table. Â Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu, and offered us some suggestions on the wine. Â He was pleasant enough, but he could learn to smile some. Â It would warm up his presentation. Â All of our appetizers were good. Â We had the meat and cheese tray, the baked brussels sprouts, and the crab dip. Â Our entrees consisted of the Lobster Carbonara, the salmon, and two of the meat specials, which were 12 ounce cuts of New York strip from grass fed cows. Â The farm the beef was from is in Maryland, according the our waiter.
The Carbonara was delicious. Â An ample portion of homemade pasta with lots of lobster throughout. Â The sauce was very good. Â The salmon was fresh and cooked to the proper temperature. Â The two New York strips were huge pieces of beef, truly 12 ounce cuts. Â They were seasoned perfectly and cooked to the requested temperatures, rare and medium-rare. Â Everyone in our party was thoroughly satisfied with their meals. Â Only item that got a little criticism was the chocolate souffle, which the diner said was a bit under cooked. Â I also thought the slice of pecan pie we shared was a bit tiny for the $7 price tag. Â
All-in-all we had a very nice experience and left thinking the food was worth a trip back in the future.
