Very pleasant place, although seating is limited and the chairs spartan and none-too-comfortable. Clean with adequate lighting. My husband had the regular hamburger, and I tried the French Dip. They didn't skimp on the roast beef on my sandwich, and the au jus was tasty and hot. My husband was delighted by the bun on his burger, saying that it was light and not gummy like so many other burger buns. Both of us enjoyed the fresh-cut chips. Prices seem right in line with most pub-type places. I like that they offer regular dinners and not just burgers and sandwiches. This was our first visit; we will go back.

I finally got to try the clam chowder. Drumroll, please: it was great! Full of goodies and flavored right. The club sandwich was tasty and the service accommodating. I'll be back!

We wanted a good place for breakfast in Hillsboro instead of always driving clear into Portland.  Success!  We've only been here once but the breakfast was very good and plentiful, and the service was friendly and social.  Spanish coffee was excellent, bonus!

I read the reviews and went to see for myself. I am really looking for a quick place for breakfast on the weekend near my home. I found it. I had a really nice meal, great service and the country fried steak breakfast was really a hand breaded ribeye, not a premade frozen patty like other places. fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, pot of coffee and great rye bread with a boat load of butter. With a 20% plus tip, under $20 for 2 people. Great service, clean and pleasant. only complaint, table was a little wobbly.

We've been back several times, and I have to lower the rating based on the food.  It's just inconsistent.  Some days it's great, others it's sloppily prepared.  Not sure if they hired some new cooks or what, but it has gone downhill a bit.

Pretty good food and decent service but it always takes FOREVER to get food. It took 40 minutes to get my order when there were only a handful of mostly just drinkers in the bar.

Went here for breakfast after a night of working and had the "two egg breakfast" that had two eggs (duh) hashbrowns toast and a choice of two slices of bacon or sausage. I choose bacon. It was around 7:30am and the place was empty. The lady who served us (I assumed might have been the owner) was real nice and friendly.

I got my food and it was. eh.... Nothing fancy. Good, but not great. something I could easy fix and taste the same. (I'm a bad cook. so much that I tend to eat out more then I should)  Hashbrowns tasted like they might have been frozen. Eggs were good. they were not as fluffy as I like them to be, but they did not taste like rubber. Something I wish other restaurants will understand is not how you cook an egg!  Bacon was crippy and toast was good.

I'd go again as I always believe in second chances. Maybe try something different.

tip: if you have kids, they can go here. they just can't go in the bar area, but everywhere else seemed fine.

Just went back to Social Lies over the weekend and had another good experience!  Several of us had burgers; everyone agreed that their meat is really well-seasoned and they have great buns (lol).

One of my friends accidentally ordered the Social Lies burger, not realizing that it had THREE big patties.  The look on her face when the plate arrived was classic.  While she didn't finish all three patties, she said the burger was delicious.

I have taken gruff from my MIL for taking her to a bar for breakfast. She is new in our land and does not know that our bars have to serve food and most of them serve pretty good food.

This is not one of them.

Now, that isn't an insult. Mostly.

It reminds me a lot of Original Hotcake House out on Powell. It's not dirty enough, or seedy enough and there is no part of Hillsboro that I have been in that is remotely as...colorful as that part of Powell, but you will see the connection by and by in this review.

For breakfast on the weekend, they offer an all you can eat breakfast plate, which is what we ordered. It is a base of hash browns, then breakfast meat, then scrambled eggs and then topped with gravy. This is all on one plate and served with each item on top of the other. Like your weird Uncle Dave would say, "It all gets mixed up after ya swallow it anyway."

I think you would be hard pressed to call it anything other than stuff to suck up the booze that you drank too much of the night before.

I did not expect much of the coffee and was not disappointed.

Would I go again? Yeah, and I'd try something different.

There are about four different places I can think of within a mile that serves something like this though.

It does look like a fair enough watering hole for someone looking to get a glow on in an unpretentious sports bar.

I'm giving it a "meh" because of that, but maybe I can raise the star flag higher after another go-around.

My girlfriend and I stopped in and was a little early for Happy Hour, but the really nice waitress gave us the deal anyway plus the food.  What a sweet person. Food really good and the place clean and tidy.

I woke up in the morning with the yearning for brunch. Normally I would whisk my way to Portland with a 30 minute drive then a 30 minute wait for some iconic brunch staple. Then, I remembered this new place 3 minutes from my house. Plus it had decent reviews. Why, not?

I should have drove to Portland.

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday at 10AM. There were only 2 tables ahead of us. Our food came out at 10:50AM. I tried to save time by eating in Hillsboro for once, but Social Lies only had one chef/line cook working the kitchen. So, yeah, you can imagine with 3 tables of brunchers he was in the weeds...BIG TIME. While waiting, I finished a decently price Bloody Mary at $4.50 and received no apologies from the one waitress who was also doubling as a bartender. I would have appreciated an apology or discounted drinks to make up for the wait, but I received neither.   I can't imagine the wait for the 3 tables that followed us.

To the one cook in the kitchen: I could see you working your butt off. You were baking biscuits, working the stove, flat top, fryer, everything. It's not your fault the place is understaffed. You tried to hustle and that bonus star up there is for you, buddy.

Almost an hour later my Chicken fried steak came out. They claim it is a ribeye, but the point of chicken fried steak is take make the best out of a cheap cut of meat. So the ribeye just looked like a cheap cut of meat. The steak was plated atop the steaming pile of hash browns. Boys and girls, what happens when you add crispy breading and hot and steamy...SOGGY. The bottom of the soggy breading came right off.  What was left of the breading could have used more seasoning. The gravy was run-of-the-mill gravy that lacked some depth. It could have used a tad more pepper or cayenne or herby rosemary. Did I mention they forgot my toast?

Under staffing, shortcuts, and lack of flavor is what kills places in Hillsboro and the burbs. I shouldn't have to wait an hour for food with only a 2 top and a 4 top in front of me. Social Lies totally frustrated me. I was hoping for a good brunch spot near my house, but I prefer the drive and wait at Screen Door rather than having to wait so long for just decent food 2 miles from my house.

My mom and I went for breakfast this morning. It was wonderful! Best French Toast. Breakfast is only 6am - 11am only.

This place is NOT your typical Hillsboro restaurant. The food is great and fresh! The restaurant/bar is clean and trendy! The staff is fast and attentive!
I am tired of all the work it takes to go into Portland for some drinks and a decent meal. This place is great and local, and the prices aren't bad either.
I highly recommend we get this place jumpin.

Oh and ps, I have had the veggie wrap twice and its delicious.

Social Lies Pub & Grill is a neat little restaurant right on 1st street in downtown Hillsboro. This delightful pub offers extended hours and a simplicity theme that extends to the exterior, the interior, and the menu.

Service here is hospitable, friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our server, bless her heart, talked us out of having nachos with our hamburgers. When we received our burgers we were so very glad she did! The food proportions at Social Lies Put & Grill are enormous.

The menu is concise and focuses on items like burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, salads, and appetizers. Most of the items are below $10. On our visit we opted for the "Morning Burger." This brought us a burger consisting of two 1/3 pound hamburger patties, ham, and fried egg in an onion roll. One of the best if not the best hamburger I have ever had.

Social Lies Pub & Grill serves homemade potato chips with the burgers. They sprinkle the chips with parmesan cheese and my goodness gracious they are to die for. The homemade potato chips are so tasty that they don't even need dipping sauces.

Social Lies is a pub that cares about their food service and it definitely shows. I've reached a point in my life where just about all I need is a tasty hamburger, some good company, a brew, and being treated well to make me happy. Social Lies Pub & Grill filled my belly and warmed my soul on a hot Hillsboro night.

Excellent food, great atmosphere. Very nice lady that waited on us when we there. The burger that I tried was massive and it was good. It was the triple burger. Would recommend to anyone.

Second visit at Social Lies! First visit VERY impressive, food beyond delicious! Second visit was take out and it was exactly like the table food. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu! I will have to pace myself as I can see my family getting carried away here. I have yet to have their breakfast BUT that is next on my list. GO GO GO to this FABULOUS new spot. Keep in mind this area has never really been successful as far as restaurants so I would love to start a word of mouth conversation regarding Social Lies. LOVE!

Tried this place on a whim, looking for someplace new. Had the fish & chips and was impressed...a generous portion of hand battered cod for only $9.95! The service was prompt and very pleasant without being obnoxious. Decided to go back a few days later and had a Ruben, again, great quality corned beef with awesome homemade Parmesan chips.

Since then have been back multiple times. The menu is small and pretty basic, but everything is homemade and prepared with excellent ingredients. Tasty homemade soups, great country fried steak, Hugh burgers, nice salads, and really good service. I'm so happy to have found this place!

Great food & service again ;)  My husband & I had the 10 oz. sirloin patty with grilled onions & mushrooms with mashed potatoes & gravy with broccoli. My mom had the chicken fried steak. The gravy is a true southern style.  Home made everything.  A friend with us knocked out the Social Lies burger. A one pounder, yes it had 3  1/3 pound patties on it, with home made potato salad. I will be posting pics shortly of it all ;)  Nice & open on the inside, lots of walking room. LOVE THIS PLACE

The hubs and I went here on their grand opening weekend and I must say, I am impressed! The service is top notch for sure and their karaoke was absolutely packed - standing room only as they have a very well known local kj who now does his thang at Social Lies so come early to request a song.

Prices are super and they have a full bar as well as food. We only tried the hot wings, but they use a super secret rub on their wings in addition to hot sauce which made them unique. I am sure there will be kinks to work out but I would highly recommend giving them a try...support our local biz!! Kids welcome through dinner then it's grown up time.
