I like the gyro's here. The pizza looks amazing but is just ok. The service varies by day and server. This place could do better if they took the 70's sitcoms off of the TV and put on some sports. The atmosphere is kind of dark and a little uninviting. The beer is usually cool but not cold. If it wasn't for the gyro I probably wouldn't go there often but all in all it isn't bad.
Review Source:I wouldn't complain if someone took me there and paid for my meal. That is about the best I can say, and I won't return if I am buying.
I think this place was opened to be a bar that happened to serve pizza, and thats exactly what the pizza tastes like. The lamb is clearly frozen and they don't even attempt to hide that fact. I will say that the service was friendly and my drink was never empty, but you are a greek restaurant located right next to a local butcher. I think you could find a way to get fresh meat, and perhaps higher quality pizza!
Son of Greek is a pretty cool little spot. Â I like it because it isn't super fancy and has a relaxing atmosphere that is a little different than the normal "pizza place" around this area. Â Gotta get a kick out of people bashing this place because it isn't upscale. Â Uh, it's a pizza joint in McDonough, not a 5-star restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Â Let's take a deep breath here people.
While they do not have a massive menu selection, what they offer is pretty good, with big portions. Â Their pizza is our personal favorite, but everything else we have had has been top notch as well. Â For the drinkers, they appear to have a full bar, though we have never given it a test. Â Our children can get something to eat and the portions are big enough where we can order something and they split it between the two of them.
As for service, this is tricky, because we have been when they have been nearly empty as well as when they were packed with a line out of the door. Â When this place is really hopping, the wait and service takes longer, but name a place where that isn't the case. Â Normally, their service is on point and we have never had an issue there. Â Always friendly and smiling.
When the Georgia weather isn't equivalent to being in Oprah's armpit, the outdoor seating is great, with the occasional live music provided on the weekends.
For our family, the price is right here. Â Friendly service, good food, close to home, and the whole family can eat there. Â I'll put that in the win column.
If you've ever wanted to try Bruschetta made with a hot dog bun, this is your kind of place. Â The decor resembles that of late "80's bowling alley". Â The Greek Lasagna was obviously made from a frozen Stouffer's entree. Â Unfortunately, the only positive comment I can make is that I will never forget my family's experience at "Son of a Greek."
