Our first time in, will definitely be back.

We stopped in to hear a local musician, and decided to go early for dinner.  The menu was extensive and the entrees looked delicious, but we were in the mood for hamburgers and such.

I had a cheeseburger and coleslaw and they were both great.  I can't remember what my husband had, but he really enjoyed it.

They have a large selection of IPA beers, which our guests really enjoyed.

    Looking forward to returning.

Meh. Hostess and waitress were welcoming, cheerful and helpful. Drinks arrived quickly and were both creative and tasty. Unfortunately, our experience went downhill from there. Scallops appetizer smelled so overpoweringly of the refuse pile at an outdoor fish market that I was only willing to venture one minuscule bite-enough to recognize that the minty fresh crest flavor of the weird sauce was rather disturbing. To her credit, waitress immediately notice our distaste and immediately removed from the bill. Unfortunately entrees were only marginally better, with the "fresh mozzarella" described on one recommended pasta dish lost in the strings of onion that outnumbered the pasta.  Penne with vodka sauce was pretty good, although the waitress' offer of "fresh ground cheese" turned out to be a shaker of parm courtesy of Kraft. The waitstaff here deserve a better kitchen...

You may notice sometimes I'll do a "split review" for lack of a better term, within which I will break out the service and food aspects as they were completely out of synch with each other. I never thought I would have to do this with Sonoma.

My husband and I have become something of "regulars" at Sonoma, having gone nearly weekly since our first visit. I should note that the restaurant is broken into 2 sections: the dining side and the bar side. Until this week, we had consistently sat on the dining side and never had anything short of stellar service and quality food. But apparently once you cross over the threshold into the bar area, you transport yourself into some sort of alternate universe.

We joined a couple friends at a table in the bar area, and were greeted by a young lad who shall remain nameless in this review. Let's call him "Doug".

"Doug" seemed to be way off his game, like "had the munchies" off his game, if you catch my drift. He was nice enough, but extremely dazed and slow. On a Tuesday night in a relatively empty restaurant and sitting NEXT TO THE BAR, there's no reason to wait 10 minutes for a diet coke refill, or another beer...

Anyway, we proceeded to order dinner which "Doug" so valiantly took without writing it down. In high end restaurants, it's generally accepted that the wait staff does not take notes and they are utmost professionals. "Doug" was not, and I wanted him to write it down. But alas, he didn't.

Fast forward, one of the people I was with is gluten-free and ordered a gluten free pizza. The chef came out and apologized that there was an issue with the crust and would accomodate her as best he could. He was nice enough to whip something up that was off the menu. Crisis somewhat averted.

Once all the meals were ready, "Doug" brought them to their respective orderers. So far so good. Until he got to my dinner. He had entered the order for my dinner on the GF crust and my friend's on the normal one. So, what I had before me was not what I had ordered. And what was worse, had the GF crust not broken and gotten mixed up, my friend would have gotten terribly ill. "Doug", take notes!

"Doug" apologized and put my order in again with the kitchen. You could hear the chef now yelling at "Doug" - this did not sound like his first mix up of the evening.

By the time my food came out, everyone else had finished their meals. I had to order a to-go box to accompany my dinner.

At the end of the day, the restaurant made amends and comped both my meal and my friend's meals. And while the experience was sub-par, I'll still go back as I know they can and will do better next time!

We did takeout and I can say it was okay.

Portions were large but a bit overpriced for what it was. Hubby's sandwich was not at all what we ordered. Salad was good, but not enough dressing.

We would go back if need be but won't be running there anytime soon.

I have been visiting this area for the past week (from CA) and have eaten at Sonoma several times. Their food is consistently outstanding, the baked or fried Haddock is the best ever! The front end (Carrie, the owner and our favorite waitress Jayme) are very accommodating and professional. Complaints I've seen on here simply did not exist during my visits. Try it, you'll be back. If I could package it up, lock, stock and barrel and take it home to Ventura County, I would do it in a heartbeat. Oh yeah, try the lamb chops...superb!!!

A nice local restaurant with quality food and service.  I have eaten here twice, both times at the bar and had great experience.  The food was fresh.  The wine/beer list are extensive.

I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out for a good price.

What kind of business does not keep track of gift certificates??  My Aunt gave me a 100 dollar gift cert. for Christmas to Sonoma.  Unfortunately I think it got thrown out with the wrapping paper.  I called Sonoma, figuring no problem, they'll have a record of the purchase.   Quite the opposite the manager basically said tough luck, and that if I lost it, it's my own fault.  What the hell.  Are you freaken kidding me.  You call yourself a real business and can't keep a simple list for gift cert. just in case this happens.  You Sonoma sir are the worst.  And crooks to boot!!!!  You will never see me or every friend I tell this story too, in your establishment ever again!!!

I need to add some more.  I recently hosted a retirement party for a good friend and held the party at Sonoma. What a wonderful party it was.  Kerrie (new owner) helped with the food and planning and all was perfect. She timed everything perfectly from when to serve the food, do the champagne toast, and serve the dessert.  The party flowed perfectly. People commented on the food and service all afternoon. All of the food was perfectly prepared. Our server, Danielle, was on top of everything. I got compliments all day and still get compliments on what a great party it was. There were 30 people in attendance and there was never a dirty plate sitting or an empty glass around. Thanks, Danielle.  Kevin, the bartender, kept up with keeping all the glasses filled.  No one was ever looking for the server or needing anything. It was an absolutely perfect party, a great venue, great food, perfect service, and a wonderful memorable event.

We go to Sonoma all the time and I had previously reviewed, I was pissed tonight because after going for dinner and pool, with our bartender(Nate?) who is a fantastic bartender slash server we went to to pool room... The new owner who bought the place literally walked in and said "I hope you didn't just start a new game because we're waiting on you to leave". We love the bartender and the atmosphere but after being treated like that...we won't be back. We came in tonight with new friends who had never been and safe to say they were not impressed!

What a terrific surprise! Stayed in a local hotel and this was recommended. Very good menu, casual, with excellent service. Great chicken parm. $110 incl tip for 3 people.

We went here for a private party, so can't comment on a full meal.  What I can tell you is that the staff was well trained, friendly, and efficient.  The food that we did have at the party was appetizing and well presented.  This place appears to deserve the reviews it is getting.

The typical bar food selections like sandwiches, burgers and pizza are great. The dinners, however, are even better, highlighted by several Greek dishes (the owner of Sonoma Pub used to own Jason's next to the Showcase Cinemas in Warwick).  I've been there several times and have really enjoyed the steak sandwich, souvlaki sandwich, barbecue chicken pizza and meze platter.

The beer selection is amazing with almost 40 beers on tap and another 60 bottled selections.  They have beer flights, so you can sample different brews.  The wine list is extensive and well-developed (the restaurant used to be called Sonoma Grille, which was more of a wine bar/restaurant).

The bar is comfortable and, with flat screen TVs anywhere you look and a new room for pool tables, it's a good place to watch a game or play a few rounds with friends.  Several nights per week, they have live music in the bar.

Not to be overshadowed is the restaurant area of Sonoma Pub, which features a private event room that is often frequented by local organizations and clubs.

Sonoma Pub is a great place to go in North Kingston and is worth a little drive to try out.

I have to say the  food has definetly improved since the new ownership took over. We went back after a while and eventhough the combo app wasn't too impresive the rest of our meal was very good. Service was great and friendly.  Maybe next time she can offer if there is anything else we need before the check, I could've gone for a cup of coffee or dessert, but our check hit the table before i finish my wine.
    I would still go back,

We stopped by Sonoma Grille on the way to Narragansett and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a welcoming decor, very clean, and the service was extremely friendly. We just ordered appetizers and they were presented well and delicious. We ordered the appetizer combo which included; fried mozzarella, potato skins, garlic butter wings, and Rhode Island style calamari. Additionally we ordered the hummus platter. The only thing we did not like was the wings, a little too greasy and flavorless for our taste but everything else was spot-on. The hummus was perfect, served two ways, traditional and with roasted red peppers - both were moist and flavorful, served with warm Syrian bread. We'll be back to sample dinner soon.
