I'm a little surprised about the comments on the décor. I mean, it's Sparta, WI. It's a small town and anything too fancy would be out of place. It has a family restaurant sort of feel, rather than a "New York steak house" feel, but that was just fine with me :)
My ribeye was cooked exactly as I wanted, the baked potato was just right, and although the salad was nothing special, it was nice and cold and the lettuce was crisp.
The server was friendly and prompt without hovering. All in all, a very good value and a very good experience. I will definitely be back when I am in the area!
Nice spot in Sparta that's run by a SGM and his wife. Both are really nice. Came with my crew and we were pretty loud. Steaks are super good and so is the beer cheese soup. Never had the latter and I was impressed.
The SGM even joined our table for a bit, that was nice. The decor is a little old fashioned but didn't bother me one bit.
Ordered the biggest steak they had (forget the name) and got it medium-rare. It was cooked perfectly and it really was tasty. Cheese curls were ok, not fantastic. Everyone else told me their meals were great also. A fish dish was ordered and some other cuts of steaks.
Just okay.  Small menu.  The steak was good but undercooked.  The salad was a typical iceberg variety-when I asked for vinegar and oil , they brought white vinegar.  Weird-no red wine vinegar or balsamic-like they never heard of  it.  Service was slow and spotty.  I tipped 15pct and I never so that!  Decor was 80's country-lots of wreaths and plastic flowers.  Advice to the owners: update the menu, add a large salad or two, the silverware is of the cafeteria variety.  I am not going to steal it so get something better.  The piped in Patsy Cline will not draw the people with money you desire-change it.  A few updates and maybe you will actually be busy next Saturday night!
Review Source:hey, this is a damn great steak house in the middle of the wisconsin countryside. Â they do a tremendous job with the steaks here. Â i was pleasantly suprised at the quality. Â
they have an amazing array of choices of potatoes as well, including has browns, of which i love. Â the neat thing, is that they are somewhat greasy, which i love as well.
the cocktails are great too.
the decor in this restaurant is interesting. Â cannot figure if it is 50's, seaside, or countryside. Â all depends on which table you are sitting at.
