We tried this place this past Friday night. Â We noticed this place is fairly new in Downtown Gresham and wanted to see what it was. Â I have to say the signage is a little misleading. Â We weren't sure if it was a comedy club, some sort of live rap venue, a place catering to skaters, or a drive bar.
We were pleasantly surprised once inside. Â It's inside a nifty old church that they've turned into a restaurant/bar with a full menu upstairs. Â I believe they do live music downstairs, but we didn't go down there. Â Anyway, it's definitely a cool setting in an old church. Â We were very impressed with the menu--good stick-to-your-ribs kind of food--Burgers, appetizers, sandwiches, pasta, fish and chips, with a large variety of options. Â We started out with mozarella sticks with marinara (yum). Â Then I had the bacon mac n cheese and a side salad, and my husband had the philly cheeseteak. Â The mac and cheese was yummy--very creamy and the salad was good too--not just a plain salad but had some little goodies in it. Â My husband liked his philly cheesesteak but said it wasn't the best he'd had but was good. Â However, he was very happy they had Ninkasi Total Domination on tap.
Overall, we will definitely be back--nice neighborhood place with a great menu in a cool building. Â We might suggest changing the sign a bit though because it's really unclear what exactly "Spinella's off the wall" with a drawing of a guy in a baseball cap means. Â Doesn't really denote "nifty bar/restaurant in an old church".
