Awesome!  Don't go here if you want fancy liquor.  Go here if you want friendly locals.  After ten minutes I got invited to play some dice game with everyone in the bar.  Good times.

Pretty sure this is the same place, but Jay M. says is closed.  Maybe opened up again under new owners??? ((If I Have The Wrong Place.... please email so I can correct))

Anyway, went there with my husband and a friend during our stay in Dunsmuir and the place was pretty dead except the local town drunk and few other people.  Then again, it was also a Sunday night.  The place was nice with one coin pool table, and area for darts and a cool little smoke room that was open to the exposed brick and sky light, however, the bar had little selection.  Maybe cause it's a small town, but I was kinda shocked a the little selection and I'm even from a small town myself.  The prices were a little too much though.  Again, I know it's a small town and all, but 5 bucks for a few sips and 7 for a glass that was mostly ice was a bit much.  It was sort of comparable with what you would pay in downtown Sacramento for a drink, but still get a little less.  Service was fine though so no complaints and the place was nice (probably really busy during Fri/Sat night I'm sure), but for the price, I can drink at my cabin for a lot less.  It was just nice to get out though and play some pool.

Spirits bar and lounge is quite a small town experience. The last time we hung out at Spirits we had a long discussion with an old guy on parole.  He would occasionally nod off while telling us the story of how he got busted with all that white powder. He needed something LEGAL to perk himself up. Bartender...one coffee STRONG. There are also quite a few fine law abiding Dunsmuir citizens who frequent Spirits. The guy who works for Southern Pacific, Ted Fay's grandkids, even the dude from River Realty. The bartender also works as a teacher at Dunsmuir High School. There were also a few baby mamas looking to add another kid to her stable. Tight outfit. Boobs overflowing.  Spirits is a good place to kick back, have a few beers, and check out  the local flavor.

    ************

We revisited Spirits over the Memorial Day weekend. They had a parcheessi tournament going on as we ducked in from the rain at the British Car Show. Lots of ashen-looking types with mustaches. Grey pony tail guy was on us immediately. "Hey, look at that shiny ring!" That dude was plastered. I just have a regular silver band. He said,  "You must polish it or something." I shot back, "Look at your fingernails, they're all dirty and filthy...just like your ring". He was talking us up as we ordered a couple of Dunsmuir finest Budweiser. He went on about vigilante justice against some local teenagers. He seemed harmless but not somebody you'd want to drive home late at night. The female bartender reminded me of an east coast type with a lot of worry on her mind. She wore a lot of matching green. She had a pocket in her snug white pants to keep her green lighter handy. The bar also had some folks driving through town looking for a place to have a glass of wine. They definately needed a room. The woman was all over this guy after a glass of red. Spirit's not all just one-eyed men with patches. A country band passing through asked if they could play for tips, so they were playing some cool original rockabilly and country tunes that night. The manager lady seemed excited about the live band playing. She was also spearheading the parchessi tournament earlier in the day. You can tell Spirits Bar is the core of the Dunsmuir drinking scene.
