Dishonest Business... AVOID. Â If you are looking for a bad burger and cheap beer, this is your place. Â I made the mistake of trusting Joe Lanzi with catering our wedding. Â He assured me they could do it (and even offered a very solid price). Â He told us the date was available but could not see us in Jan/Feb because he was busy. Â I called 3 times a week for several weeks to set up a tasting and give him $$$. Â We finally scheduled a day for my fiance and I to visit and when I called to confirm the visit he informed that he had booked our wedding date. Â Not sure when he thought he was going to tell me. Â After trying to blame me for canceling my wedding date on his calendar he then offered to do it another day if I moved my wedding date! Â He consistently argued that somehow it was my fault that he booked somebody else on my big day even though for months he told me the date was all ours. Â Now we are stuck scrambling to find somebody new. Â AVOID these guys. Â They are just about making $$$. Â Having grown up on the lake I expected more from the Lanzi brothers. Â I have thought I could trust the name. Â I was WRONG.
Review Source:Okay place ONCE you know what you are getting yourself into. First of all the staff is great, Joe the owner is always right there and saying hello to friends and strangers alike, and the place is always spotless. A very important thing these days. However, they always try to go wayyyy beyond what they should do with the food. To me it is half frozen off a Sysco truck and half homemade combined in the same dish. And it doesn't work. The food is mediocre but never bad. The clientele? Well it's Sacandaga so you get a mix. Fun in the summer if you stop by with the boat, same thing with the sled in the winter, and familiar faces the rest of the time.

The Sport Island Pub is a fun place to go in Fulton County...most of the time. Â I have gone there with friends for both big and small gatherings, and for casual dining and special occasions. Â
The food is quite good but be careful when you go there late enough to witness to turn over into a night spot. Â They start shifting things around while you and your company are sitting at your table. Â They remove the salt shakers and similar items "for your safety"...hmmmmm? Â
I will admit that I have not been there in a while but I enjoy going there for nice lakeside dining. Â I am a big fan of the breaded haddock & fish n' chips. Â They serve drinks and during decent weather you can sit on the deck. Â There is a beach nearby that sometimes has events going on. Â I would probably enjoy going there more if it was not for the constant fear of an instant high school reunion. Â
My last visit there was the most interesting I had ever had. Â I went with a couple of coworker friends and we were enjoying ourselves and our meals. Â Then the evening turn over began. Â We noticed a group of men congregating around the bar area. Â One friend left and the other stayed with me as we relaxed and had a drink or two from the bar. Â We were able to stay at our table and by the end of the night did not want to leave the table. Â The group of men got very friendly and very aggressive quickly. Â We found out that they were vacationing on their annual men away from home trip. Â They were from the Albany/Clifton park area, "Do you know where that is?" Well, I don't know, a little country bumpkin like me has never driven an hour away from home before and didn't go to college and shop in Albany for years. Â They seemed to think that vacation in the country meant easy country girls who want to party with city folk like them. Â
A couple of them were friendly & harmless. Â As for the others, I was propositioned by at least 4 of them. Â One named Chuck supposedly was a cook at a nice restaurant in the capital region area. Â He was plastered and commenced to beg me to dance, pelvic thrust our table, and slide across the table to lay a big slobbery kiss on me. Â He also sat with me and got cuddly for a while. Â He was not the one that scared me. Â Then others chatted and asked for dances and acted a little too interested for married men. Â Chuck was the only single one and frankly was the least aggressive and most playful of the bunch. Â One of the other men in the troop came over, sat with me, got angry with me because I would not dance and did not have a good enough reason, in his opinion as to why I would not dance. Â He tried to drag me from the table, left a lovely bruise in the shape of a hand print on my arm and only let me go when 2 of his group members and my friend pushed him off me. Â Eventually they hit on girls who were there with their boyfriends and things got really out of hand. Â Considering that it was not very busy or crowded, I was upset by the lack of assistance from those working at the Pub. Â I am pretty sure the door person and owner were in plain sight. Â When a fight started, the men were finally asked to leave. Of course, there was a tiny bar just a door away, so they were all outside when we left. Â My friend was sure to walk me to my car and make sure I was left alone. Â Thanks to her!!! Â I share this story for the sheer humor and ridiculous nature of it all, but also just to warn you of what might happen if you stay there on a quiet evening.
