Great place to watch the Master's. Amber is the best bartender. Very sociable and tentative. Was very nice to me for my birthday which is tomorrow. I asked if i could purchase the "Fat Tire" beer glass for my collection and she gave to me as a BD present. Even washed it for me. First time here and and we'll be back next time we are in Palm Springs :-)
Review Source:Deceptive Sports Bar tucked away in a strip mall.
Recommended to us by a friend so we decided to try it out for the first time. Â Nice array of TV's playing a variety of sports with music playing the background. Â The bartender (ONLY ONE) tending the bar was very nice and pleasant. Â Went on Sat. and it was an interesting crowd who was gearing up for a night of Karaoke.
Seems like a fun place to hangout and watch sports with friends when a big game is on TV. Â Next time, I'd like to try out the new and improved menu.
Went to the sports shack for the first time last night. Word of advice? Try the Daytona wings. The cook himself actually came out and took my order (waitress was MIA) and suggested I try them. Even said they were his favorite.
This guy asked how many I wanted, how crispy I liked them, if i wanted them covered or sauce on the side, even asked what I wanted to dip them in! He really seemed to know his s#!t, and surprisingly enough seemed to care.
While waiting for the wings, I ordered a beer. Guess who poured that for me? The cook! This guy was everywhere! He was running food, taking orders, pouring drinks, even giving the regulars a hard time, which judging by the laughter they enjoyed. I thought for sure he was going to overcook my food. Not a chance. Extra crispy, covered, bleu cheese dip, and all 8 of them were there.
DAYTONA SAUCE. WOW. Smokey bbq flavor with the buffalo kick! He was right, best wings ever.
When it came time to settle my bill, I flagged the cook down. One man show going on here, and this guy could handle it. I didn't even realize anyone else was working until he flagged someone down to settle my bill.
The woman he flagged down introduced herself as Jody, and asked me what she could get for me. Friendly enough, but had no clue i had been there for over an hour and already been served, fed, and conversated with. Once she brought the tab i guess she saw how much i had already been helped but didn't seem surprised.
"he's just like that. Helps out with everything."
Well i tell ya what. Every place that serves food should have a guy like this.
Only four stars because the bartender didn't even know i was there. If it wasn't for that cook, i would have left and this would be a horrible review.
Go Texans!!!
We had Fried pickles, Wings, and a Chicken tender basket. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD!
the wings were crispy with a got kick of Buffalo wing sauce......yum!
*Only two waitresses, so getting your drinks/order can take a little while.....but the place gets packed so it's really not their fault. The older lady is very nice, and does what she can to have the TV changed to your favorite team.
New and improved food menu. Â With encouragement from the great bartenders, tried the blue cheese burger and the deep fried pickles and they were good.
With Golden Monkey on tap, and the new commitment to food, I definitely must adjust my previous rating to a more deserving four stars.
I was visiting from out of town on a friday and my friend and I wanted to find a place to have a beer, some food and watch the MLB playoffs.  The food wasnt amazing, but it did the trick. (not much in the way of veggie options so I had a basic quesadilla)  There was a beer happy hour special that was nice.  We hung out long enough that they were wheeling out the karaoke system...so we stuck around.  It was a fun crowd of people who obviously all were regulars who were used to nights like this.  They were friendly and when we got up to sing they  were quite nice to us too.  Good karaoke vibe makes up for mediocre food. I would go back.
Review Source:A decent little divey sports bar. They've got plenty of beers to pick from and big screen TVs to watch. There's also a jukebox, pool table, dart board adn video games. Food is pretty lousy though, even by sports bar standards. Biggest drawback is the service. A couple of the bartenders are friendly but they have one nighttime older bartender who is just plain rude. She seems happy with the regulars but put out by anyone else that goes in there. I just go there in the day time now and avoid the shifts she works.
Review Source:The word "Shack" in the name should have been taken as a bad omen. .
We went here after my boyfriend and some of his friends finished in a softball tournament for the day. Quite a few of our team along with members of other teams. When we walked in, some guys walked out because they had been waiting on their food for an hour. It took our waitress 20 minutes to even come around and take our order - and that was still about 5 minutes after a sarcastic (and I admit, it was rude) team member yelled, "Help!". We were discussing leaving to somewhere else when she showed up to take our orders and we didn't want to be rude.
The water I ordered was definitely tap - it wasn't even filtered.
There was only one cook in the back and his hands were shaking when he delivered our food so I'm not sure what that was about. Maybe he was just anxious because he had so many orders. We ordered appetizers which came out last or with our food and some of us were eating way before others. Those who ordered first had an hour wait, those who ordered last were waiting way over an hour.
A guy at the bar - who sure looked like he may work there to me the way he was walking around and I could swear I saw him walk into the back once - didn't lift a finger. Our groups was, naturally, upset about the extremely long wait period and lack of staffing. When another waitress offered to "help" by cleaning up some of the plates when we were through he told her we were complaining too much and not to help us. Seriously, dude? You're not going to complain amongst yourselves after waiting that long?
The food itself was disgusting. The lowest quality of food I have had since high school cafeteria food, and even that tasted better. I didn't eat very much - a few wings and one or two other appetizers. I ate some fruit and a protein bar I had laying around when I got back to the hotel. Â
Many of the softball guys have been coming to Palm Springs for years and one had told us that it looks like a brand new place but it's always been there - they just remodeled the outside. This is really deceiving because it looks like a brand new restaurant - but it is most certainly not.
I was actually worried about using the restroom and held it til we got back to the hotel. As we were leaving, the boyfriend confirmed my suspicions as he came out of the men's room with the "Whew" face. He said it was awful and I hadn't even told him I was worried it might be that way.
Head down the 111 to the Yardhouse. It's a little bit further but well work the extra 10-15 minute effort. I wished that's what we had done.
My first visit to Sports Shack was great. I walked in the door and John the owner introduced himself and made me feel right at home. I have been back many times since then as this is THE PLACE for sports fans. Catch it on Sunday for football heaven.. As mentioned in the previous post, the Daytona Wings are fabulous and a good value. The bottled beer selections is HUGE and they have many draft beer selections also. Bargain hunters - check out the barrel of beers -6 beers at a great price or the pitchers. With all of this going for it , the staff and even the customers make you feel like Norm walking into Cheers which is a welcome feeling when you have come in from out of town and you really could use some familiarity and warmth and no B.S. snobbery that is prevalent these days. pool table....darts... etc.
Review Source:I came here with my boyfriend because he wouldn't stop talking about their Daytona Wings. Â
It was early, so it wasn't crowded. Â The place is small for a sports bar, but it seems more for the locals. Â Which I think is cool. Â The bartender didn't treat us like outsiders like this other place we went to across the street.
Moment of truth - the Daytona Wings were fantastic! Â I guess they're a mixture between hot wings and bbq wings. Â The sauce was delicious.
Living in San Diego, I've had to come up with my own version to make at home - but we always stop by to grab some to go when we're in the desert.
