My husband and I were staying at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda. We were quite surprised at how delicious the food was. My husband had the fresh fried oysters and fish and chips. I don't like seafood, but after tasting the fish I might try again. We have learned its the place the locals go to that you find good people, excellent food, and a place like home.
Review Source:We were here on 3/13/13. So at first this review was going to get a 5 stars, even for a "dive bar"! Friendly staff as we walked in and the specials that were written on the wall looked good! We read the reviews on yelp and decided to eat here after having a couple of beers. My father in-law thought his frozen fried oysters were ok, my mother-in-law thought her shrimp Louise salad was great (it was huge, especially for the "small"!) Â and her and I thought her bowl and I thought my cup of "special" smoked salmon chowder were yummy. My fish and chips (that I got because of all the great reviews) was pretty good for frozen store bought fish and the onion rings that I got for an extra cost were pretty good. Now on to my hubby's "special". So the special on the sign was BBQ ribs, coleslaw, potato salad, and beans for $9.95, great deal!....so the waitress told us, then she asked my hubby what kind of dressing he wanted for his salad since it was "included" with the special...even better deal!! The ribs were fall off the bone (but with not much flavor) and the beans were cold out of the can pork and beans, and the potato salad was nonexistent (yeah, as in never got it).....but the blue cheese dressing on the salad he said was great! So when we got the bill I was a little disappointed when we were charged extra for a dinner salad for a salad that my hubby wasn't even going to get (and didn't even get the potato salad that was on the menu!!!) and we were charged $4.95 for the chowder advertised for $3.95 and $3.95 for the chowder advertised for $2.95. My husband didn't want me to say something, even though I thought I should tell them to change their sign....overall good food and nice people (the owner or manager said Hi an thank you as we left) but funny how a whole $3 can leave such a bad taste in your mouth...if you are that desperate to charge tourists an extra $3 at a local bar I'd almost rather pay the ridiculous prices at the pelican.
