It's a shame. This place had sooooooo much potential, I just don't think it was ran very well. Beautiful building, sound was okay. Definitely needed an upgrade. Bathrooms weren't near big enough. Let the bands have too much control just jumping on a bill. It's a shame, potential was endless. Nice staff also but needed a lot of work.
Review Source:This really sucks to see the City of Bryan put one of their own businesses out of business. Â The Stafford, in a beautiful historic building circa 1913 offered a large live music venue with an excellent variety of local talent. Â Until the Bryan Police started to harass the owner and issue citations for loud music, which is exactly what the venue was designed for. Â You can read about this ongoing saga in local papers. Â It was each officer's "discretion" and apparently the Police officers took it upon themselves to destroy a business. Â Quite counter productive to the revitalization of downtown Bryan.
Review Source:Great little venue in downtown Bryan. Often has live music. Hosts metal fests and Loud!Fest (punk, metal, indie, etc.) with Revolution (bar down the street).
The drinks are usually good and strong. The bartenders are friendly. They usually make a mean Long Island - or Texas Tea if you prefer.
It's usually worth the drive from Huntsville, and it's conveniently located next door to a hotel. And various food places (pizza, Mexican, Subway).
There's also a "gay bar" down the street, so I can drop my buddy off there and go see metal bands at the Stafford. We both win.
